Behind this comment by President Obama is a heap of hope. Hope that Obama/Plouffe/Axelrod can quickly plant seeds of doubt inside Perry’s psyche. It’s brutally obvious that Perry has already accomplished exactly that within Obama and his own team.
Obama: Perry “Needs To Be More Careful” What He Says WASHINGTON, Aug 16 (Reuters) — The White House denounced Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry on Tuesday for his threatening remarks toward the head of the U.S. Federal Reserve that represented some of the most inflammatory rhetoric of the 2012 election campaign. Consider me pleased as punch…… Seriously, watching Perry enter this race is like watching a major league baseball player school a farm team. Perry is taking it to Obama hard, real hard, with a direct forceful yet easygoing approach. When asked if he thought Obama loved America he said “you’ll have to ask him, you’re a good reporter, ask him”. And Perry is exactly Obama’s worst nightmare, just CLICK HERE and get the straight unfiltered facts on why.
(Rasmussen) — Texas Governor Rick Perry, the new face in the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, has jumped to a double-digit lead over Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann with the other announced candidates trailing even further behind. (more…)

How do you think they did? Who did you think advanced themselves and who diminished themselves? What do you think the entry of Rick Perry into the field will do to the race? (more…)
(USA Today) …..Hours before the big GOP debate in Ames tonight, Perry’s people are putting out the word that the Texas governor will indeed announce he is seeking the presidency in a speech in South Carolina on Saturday.
“The reports are accurate,” Perry spokesman Mark Miner said in an e-mail. “The Governor will make his intentions clear.” Saturday just happens to be the day of the Iowa straw poll, featuring previously announced Republican candidates. (read more) (more…)
Troubling times can call upon leaders to respond with urgency. Within those responses a leader will be seen as large or small based on their actions, words and deeds. Texas Governor Rick Perry chose to pray for Obama and for America. This did not diminish the speaker, quite the contrary, it enlarges him. Principles really do matter..… Reporting from Houston— Appearing before more than 15,000 people he summoned to a national prayer meeting, prospective Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry prayed for President Obama and asked God to keep the president’s family safe. (WashingtonPost) Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) is “poised to enter” the presidential race and is holding a high-level strategy session with a small group of top supporters this week, according to an e-mail sent by his 2010 gubernatorial campaign co-chairman.
In an e-mail invitation obtained by The Fix, former Perry campaign finance chairman Jim Lee invites an exclusive group to dine with the governor in Austin as he gets ever-closer to joining the presidential race. The dinner is set to be held either Tuesday or Wednesday and is limited to 15 people, according to the e-mail. (more…)
…but especially Sharon. Essentially my “Bat Signal” request is for a thread of consideration and thoughts regarding Rick Perry’s statements about feeling drawn to run for President via messaging from God. I’m noticing quite a bit of cyber-noise beginning to stir about this. Again, more evidence of conservatives eating their own. Consider this article as one example.
(Right Thinking) Oh, just great. Following in the steps of Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry claims he is hearing God telling him to run for President. If he’s hearing God’s voice, that means he’s in. I can’t imagine Perry hearing “the call” and deciding not to run.
I could throw out some boilerplate on church and state, but I’m sure you’re already thinking that. I want to go in a different direction with this, however. This being called by God to run for President thing offends me a lot more religiously than it does politically. Assuming there is a God, I do not think he is so petty and micro-managing that he wants only his selected few to become President. (more…)
I’ve been noticing this “concern” about Rick Perry on several sites referencing him as a former Democrat and thereby he should be disqualified from conservative consideration. The position seems silly to me; after all Ron Reagan was a Democrat, and so were many current Conservatives prior to the Marxist Obama taking charge and the severe hard left turn that took place. But anyhow, here is an article that discusses Rick Perry as a Democrat. Not sure why folks consider it such a toxic issue. Personally I am not concerned about his party affiliation 22 years ago. (Texas Tribune) Gov. Rick Perry, a no-apologies conservative known for slashing government spending and opposing all tax increases, is about as Republican as you can get. But that was not always the case. (more…)
(For those of you that have no idea who Rick Perry is, nor his record, Peter Morrison has written a very fair post, I think, to get you up to speed on the Texas Governor. Visit him directly at petermorrisonreport.com . W2)
Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, is widely believed to be considering a run for the GOP presidential nomination. If he does
choose to run, many political observers predict he will become one of the frontrunners of the contest, as the current crop of candidates, with a couple of exceptions, is less than overwhelming.
More than a few say that once Rick Perry officially declares his candidacy for the Republican nomination, the race will
immediately boil down to a contest between him and Mitt Romney.
For millions of potential Republican voters, this is the first time they’ve even heard of Perry, and now he’s being touted as a possible serious contender for the GOP nomination. So who is Rick Perry, and what does he stand for? Is he a true conservative who deserves your vote? (more…)
