It’s been a long time since we saw actual reporting from Gutman about the Zimmerman case.  Today, poof – he’s back… along with a host of other media types who appeared to fill the courtroom much more than before…..  Sharks smelling blood in the water? 

ABC Matt Gutman – A Florida judge questioned George Zimmerman today on his decision to waive a hearing under the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law, which means that he is likely heading for a trial this summer in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin.

The pre-trial Stand Your Ground hearing would have given the judge the discretion to free Zimmerman, eliminating the need for a trial. But the validity of a Stand Your Ground defense would be determined solely by a judge. Zimmerman’s defense team has decided to put their case before an entire jury.

“We’d much rather have the jury address the issue of criminal liability or lack thereof,” Zimmerman’s lawyer Mark O’Mara said. (more…)

We’ve been working feverishly behind the scenes today on some rather remarkable new developments from Miami-Dade (more on that later).  In addition we are sourcing the hearing video and will bring it to you asap.  However, the post hearing presser by O’Mara brings a startling revelation.

At the 7:00 minute mark – O’Mara begins to talk about the pre-trial immunity decision.   What he actually says is quite astounding.

O’Mara claims that George Zimmerman himself was the sole decision maker NOT to seek an immunity hearing.    O’Mara claims that George Zimmerman desires to be “released” ONLY by a jury, and not a judge.   O’Mara further claiming that once George made the decision to only want a jury release, the immunity considerations became moot.   He is putting the absence of a pre-trial immunity hearing squarely on the shoulders of George Zimmerman. PHILADELPHIA — The description of a shuttered abortion clinic as a “house of horrors” is a “political press fabrication,” a lawyer for a doctor charged with killing four babies allegedly born alive there said Monday.

Authorities say Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 72, ran a clinic where desperate women sought late-term abortions they could not get elsewhere. And he got rich doing so, prosecutors said, making millions of dollars over a 30-year career.

Gosnell is charged with killing four babies allegedly born alive and in the overdose death of a 41-year-old patient.

During closing arguments Monday, defense attorney Jack McMahon showed photographs of a relatively neat waiting room and other areas in Gosnell’s clinic, saying that pictures don’t lie. (more…)

APRIL 27th 2013 –  It was revealed for the first time today that the body of murdered Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens was recovered by a secret two man Special “Ops” team that was not affiliated with any of the other security entities involved in the Benghazi attack..

This team, acting under their own initiative and armed with their own weapons, undertook this mission despite very little intelligence available for this exceedingly hostile and volatile environment. The information came to light this morning on WVOX’s Vernuccio/Allison radio show.

WASHINGTON DC – Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on Saturday promised that “explosive” congressional hearings over the Benghazi, Libya attacks are on the way.

“There are more Benghazi hearings coming, I think they’re going to be explosive,” Gowdy said on Fox News.

Gowdy, a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said the hearings are going to be “coming quickly” and seemed to hint that the public might for the first time hear from witnesses to the September assault that left four Americans dead. (more…)

Former CIA operative, and current CIA analyst/CNN contributor Robert “Bob” Baer has been providing excellent commentary on the Tsarnaev brothers and the Boston Bombing.

Generally Baer is a smidge left of center – but on this case he really has been providing “common sense” amid all the reckless speculation from multiple media outlets.

In essence his hypothesis is what I would affirm as “most likely”.

Bob’s approach is from the human element which most analysts seem to overlook completely.   It appears the older brother, Tamerlan, met a person of Islamic Influence, perhaps the “Misha” character who is described as charismatic and a devote muslim. (more…)

(Via Daily Mail)  The deceased Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his wife Katherine relied on food stamps and public assistance from 2011 to 2012, soon after they became parents.

New details have emerged about taxpayer money that was shelled out to the family of the bombing suspects, after the Mass. Gov. previously refused to divulge information on their welfare benefits.

A state lawmaker was able to obtain data about government assistance the Tsarnaevs received and that information was passed on to the media. (more…)

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) –

Part of landing gear apparently from one of the jetliners that  crashed into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, has been  found wedged between two buildings, one of them a mosque site, in  Lower Manhattan, the NYPD said Friday.

The debris is stuck between the back of 51 Park Place and the rear of 50  Murray Street, according to Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne. (more…)

The George Zimmerman Legal Case defense team has filed additional motions in advance of the April 30th scheduled hearing:

• Defense demand for the details regarding the contents of Trayvon Martin’s phone
• Defense demand for the “enhanced audio” claimed to be in existence by Martin Family attorney Benjamin Crump of the 911 call tapes.   Previously Crump claimed a “cleaned up and/or enhanced copy of the calls led to Tracy Martin reversing his original statement about the screams for help NOT being Trayvon Martin.
• Defense notification of additional witness testimony which “might” be used at trial.  An enlarged supplemental witness list of unknown persons.   M-DSPD (?)
• Defense Reply to States response regarding sanctions for discovery violations and a copy of reimbursement expenses demanded.
• Defense amended Notice of Hearing 

Notably absent is any Defense/O’Mara reply to the States response regarding the Writ of Certiorari.   Apparently the hearing will continue forward while the substance of the Writ Request looms as an undetermined Appellate Court Decision [regarding the deposition of Benjamin Crump].
