(Via SBPDL)  The Warriors is movie in dire need of a re-make. Made in 1979, the movie is a tale of rival gangs in New York City and, well, isn’t a good movie.

Based on a book by Sol Yurick, the director and casting agents of The Warriors was forced to add white characters to the eponymous gang because Paramount (which would be distributing the film) didn’t think an all-Black cast would have any “commercial appeal.”
Yurick’s book doesn’t have a white character, and the re-make of The Warriors should try and be as true to the source material as possible.

With one exception: move the location of the gang-war to Chicago, a city already besieged by the type of violence Yurick wrote about. More to the point, the participants are already the correct racial hue.

The violence in Chicago has been documented here – and here, here, and here – on many occasions (and at VDare), but the night of August 23 and the morning of August 24 broke new ground. (more…)

R. Lee Ermey, the actor best known for his role as the drill sergeant in Stanley Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket,” claims he was fired by GEICO for criticizing President Obama.

During an impromptu interview with TMZ, Ermey also said, “If you’re a conservative in this town, you better watch out” (videos follow with transcribed highlights and commentary):

After being asked about his GEICO commercial wherein he played a psychiatrist calling his patient a “jackwagon,” Ermey said, “GEICO fired me because I had, I wasn’t too kind about speaking with the, about the administration, so the present administration. So they fired me.” (more…)

Yet when the libs at Amazon put together an “election heat map” indicating which states are reading red (conservative) versus blue (moonbatty) books, the result was a countermoonbat landslide:

Only six states are selling more liberal books bought than conservative titles: Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maryland, New York and DC. DC is the bluest of the blue states, with 78% of political purchases coming in blue, topped by Barack Obama’s own two titles, Dreams From My Father and The Audacity of Hope. (more…)

“You didn’t build that“……..  but, you did pay for it

BERKELEY — When Solyndra filed for bankruptcy last year, thousands of employees were let go, dozens of vendors were left high and dry, hundreds of millions of dollars were lost — and millions of glass tubes were abandoned in a San Jose warehouse.

Now some of those tubes, a signature design element of the company’s cylindrical solar panels, have found a second life as modern art. Yet like so much about Solyndra, they’ve become another flash point in the controversy surrounding the Fremont company.

Oakland architects Ronald Rael and Virginia San Fratello used 1,368 of the glass tubes to create “SOL Grotto,” an architectural sculpture on display in the lush grounds of the University of California Botanical Garden in Berkeley. The piece is part of a larger exhibit called Natural Discourse, which features work from a multidisciplinary group of artists, writers, architects and researchers. (more…)

(Examiner.com)  This week, California officials announced that they will begin issuing driver’s licenses to those illegal aliens receiving legal status under President Obama’s ‘deferred action.’

Since 1993, it has been illegal for anyone other than “a citizen or legal resident of the United States under federal law,” to obtain a California driver’s license. That measure was signed into law by Republican Gov. Pete Wilson.

However, as a result of Obama’s executive order amnesty, hundreds of thousands, possibly even millions of illegal aliens will suddenly become ‘legal’ residents. Therefore, Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown felt the need to grant them licenses.

The move basically discards the nearly two decades-old statute. (more…)

WASHINGTON – Saying they’re fed up with being told they can’t do their jobs, 10 immigration agents on Thursday sued the Obama administration to try to halt the president’s new non-deportation policy and an earlier memo instructing them not to go after rank-and-file illegal immigrants.

The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in Texas, adds a legal controversy to the political fight that has been brewing over President Obama’s immigration policies, which have steadily narrowed the range of immigrants the government is targeting for deportation.

The 10 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and deportation officers said Mr. Obama’s policies force them to choose between enforcing the law and being reprimanded by superiors, or listening to superiors and violating their own oaths of office and a 1996 law that requires them to demand proof of legal status from those they suspect are not in the country legally. Do not let the media frame this pending chaos on the “Anarchist” contingent of the Occupy folks, this is the Occupy Wall Street mainstream movement.   The ones Nancy Pelosi “blessed” last year.

The media will frame the violent activity as ‘extremist’ to deflect accountability away from  President Obama and Nancy Pelosi the same way they did when Occupy Oakland turned massively violent.  Watch the bias framing closely…..

Washington (CNN) — Law enforcement officials are concerned about possible violence by anarchist extremists at the upcoming Republican and Democratic national conventions, according to an intelligence bulletin prepared by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security.

The bulletin, which was obtained by CNN, says that anarchists could try to use improvised explosive devices  (IED’s).

It also says that, as of March, the FBI had intelligence indicating individuals from New York “planned to travel to Tampa and attempt to close” all of the Tampa Bay-area bridges during the Republican National Convention next week. (more…)

2)  President Obama’s warning to Syria that the use of chemical weapons would cross a “red line” for the administration drew criticism Tuesday …  The unusually direct U.S. warning on Syria’s weapons of mass destruction echoes discussion of the “red lines” that Iran must not cross in developing its disputed nuclear program.  Iran has carefully assembled nearly all the resources it needs to build a bomb without crossing the boundaries that the United States and others have drawn — such as the expulsion of international nuclear inspectors or the enrichment of uranium to levels that would fuel a nuclear bomb.   (article August 21st)
