The “Restoring America Event” takes place tomorrow, Sept. 3rd, and it’s quickly shaping up to be ground zero for the political in crowd. Governor Sarah Palin, the featured speaker, is scheduled to take the stage at high noon, at the National Balloon Classic Field in Indianola, Iowa. For those of you unable to be there, C-SPAN will be broadcasting the speech live.
Meanwhile, talking heads continue their swirl of conjecture as to her possible announcement for president. Will Palin’s focus on Obama’s failure to stick to his campaign rhetoric be a foundation for other conservative candidates in 2012, or is she laying the foundation for her own campaign? Whatever the outcome, of one thing we can be sure….she will continue to “fight like a girl”. (more…)
Iowa Ruckus Exclusive: Palin Will Not Run For President (?)
(TIR)(h/t JRD)-As I jumped in my car yesterday and headed home from work, I immediately recognized the raspy, Texas-seasoned voice coming across Newsradio 1040 WHO. It was Ken Crow, founder of Tea Party of America, the organization sponsoring this weekend’s “Restoring America Event,” which will feature former Alaska Governor and 2008 Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Palin Will Attend Iowa Rally After O’Donnell Is Disinvited (Again)

Thanks to a novice group of Tea Party operatives, or as Ken Crow refers to himself – an “old cowboy”, and a hyperactive media…what should have been a simple event has become a messaging muddle. (more…)
Sarah Palin is the puppeteer. We, the media, are her puppets.
(WashingtonPost)…Since rising to national prominence during the 2008 presidential campaign, the former Alaska governor has demonstrated an uncanny ability to not only draw media attention but manipulate that coverage when and how she chooses.
“For someone out of elected office and not running for anything, Palin has a near singular ability to capture the media’s attention,” said Christian Ferry who served as deputy campaign manager for Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential bid. “If you take her at her word, which I do, she doesn’t know if she is going to run for president, but she knows she has this power with the media and she is smart to use it.”

Oh No! Looks like the police are acting “stupidly” again. Would it be appropriate to have a “beer summit” under these circumstances?
(Dailymail)…Barack Obama’s ‘Uncle Omar’ is being held on suspicion of being in the U.S. illegally after he was allegedly being caught driving drunk. Onyango Obama, 67, narrowly avoided crashing his 4×4 into a police car while over the legal limit, prosecutors claimed. He is a long-lost relative of the President and had moved to America in the 1960s, The Times revealed. After he appeared on the drunk-driving charge, a judge ordered that Mr Obama must be remanded in custody because there is an outstanding warrant for his arrest as he is an illegal immigrant. The whereabouts of the Kenyan was unknown – although it had been thought he was living in Massachusetts where he was arrested. The President wrote in his book Dreams from My Father in 1995 that Onyango Obama was “the uncle who left for America 25 years ago and had never come back”. (more…)

(Space.com)…The International Space Station may have to start operating without a crew in November if Russian engineers don’t figure out soon what caused a recent rocket failure, NASA officials announced today (Aug. 29). The unmanned Russian cargo ship Progress 44 crashed just after its Aug. 24 launch to deliver 2.9 tons of supplies to the orbiting lab. The failure was caused by a problem with the Progress’ Soyuz rocket, which is similar to the one Russia uses to launch its crew-carrying vehicle — also called Soyuz — to the station. (more…)
The date was August 29, 1988 when Todd Palin and Sarah Louise Heath decided to forgo the big wedding, and instead eloped to the tiny courthouse in Palmer, Alaska. Todd said, “We had a bad fishing year that year, so we didn’t have any money. So we decided to spend thirty-five bucks and go down to the courthouse.” Sarah and Todd had dated since high school, and reportedly used two residents of a nearby nursing home as witnesses to their nuptials. Palin said that her earrings were a gift from her husband’s Yup’ik Eskimo mother, and the $35 wedding ring from Hawaii she bought herself. “Because with my ring, I always thought, it’s not what it’s made of, it’s what it represents.” (more…)
Karl Rove understands the magnitude of Sarah Palin’s political potential. He knows the effect her declaration of candidacy would have on the GOP lineup. That’s why he’s desperately trying to get her to make a declaration of candidacy on HIS terms and not hers. Last night, on Greta Van Susteren’s ‘On The Record’, he advised Palin to…”Grow thicker skin.”
