Mornin’ dear Bet. Your Cursday images are, of course, most welcome. Today was voting day for me. I have to say it was a very pleasant experience. Something that is quite typical for Texas, and no doubt elsewhere in “flyover” country as well. Standing in line I found myself in a friendly conversation with a retired teacher and a gentleman who turned out out to be a car enthusiast. Our resulting conversation was most enjoyable—we shared teaching experiences and, of course, friendly questions about my vintage ’72 Alfa.
I was of course reminded of the intriguing sociology from Youtube where European visitors post videos of their experiences with encountering everyday Texas life. All tend to be quite positive. These folks fell in love with everyday Texas life.
My fairly brief in-line experience underscored the pleasant everyday life reality that most of us who live here take for granted. You can be at a Walmart, an HEB, Buc-ees, or simply standing in line to vote and experience the same open friendliness that is a taken-for-granted part of everyday life in Texas. So . . . I voted “R” of course, and then walking to my trusty pick-up I found myself being thankful for living where I live.
