We have run unprecedented, multi-trillion-dollar fiscal deficits and expanded its national debt past $40 trillion, heavily reliant on international capital to fund its spending habits. Despite maintaining the most expansionary budget model in the developed world, the U.S. Treasury Secretary is publicly telling Tokyo to curtail its own stimulus and raise interest rates on its citizens.
Nothing more than overt American financial hypocrisy and an overreach into another sovereign nation’s domestic economic affairs.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has called on Japan to hike interest rates by invoking director Spike Lee’s most famous movie and saying that the Bank of Japan should “do the right thing.”
“I have information that the market doesn’t have,” Bessent told CNBC. “It’s my belief that the Japanese government and the BOJ will do the things that will lead to a stronger yen.”

Steinbeck would point out that Washington running multi-trillion-dollar deficits while lecturing Tokyo on fiscal discipline is the ultimate expression of a nation “greedy and sick” on its own debt. He would view Bessent’s rhetoric not as sage economic counsel, but as the wealthy protecting their position—telling the rest of the world how to behave so the U.S. can keep spending money it doesn’t have.

In late 2012, after returning to Soros Fund Management as Chief Investment Officer, Scott Bessent orchestrated a massive macro trade shorting the Japanese yen right as incoming Prime Minister Shinzo Abe began promoting “Abenomics” (the aggressive monetary expansion and reflationary policy mix).
The trade ultimately generated roughly $1.2 billion in profit for Soros’s firm as the yen plummeted against the dollar.
Questions of accountability take center stage in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, as a Dutch court hears a civil lawsuit involving Bill Gates, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and other defendants.
The plaintiffs allege they were misled into receiving COVID-19 vaccinations that caused serious harm. They are seeking damages.
These are allegations before the court, and today’s hearing does not establish liability.

Charges DROPPED in First Federal Genital Mutilation Case in US

Meet Dr. Fakhruddin Attar and Dr. Jumana Nagarwala. In 2017, charges of performing FGM on young girls were brought against these two Detroit doctors. However, the charges were dropped as it was ruled Congress did not have the right to criminalize the practice of FGM.
Yes, you read that right.
What is especially shocking is that the clinic where federal prosecutors say up to 100 girls had female genital cutting performed on them is still open at a new location.
Judge Bernard Friedman threw out the main charges in 2018. He ruled the federal FGM law unconstitutional because Congress had no power under the Commerce Clause to ban what he called a local criminal assault.
“Congress overstepped its bounds by legislating to prohibit [female genital mutilation],” Friedman wrote, calling it a “local criminal activity” for the states to regulate, not Congress.
In 2017, Michigan enacted MCL 333.9159, part of the Michigan Public Health Code, which prohibits cutting, removing, or sewing closed any part of a girl’s or woman’s external genitals for non‑medical reasons. The question then remains as to why Michigan hasn’t done anything about these two doctors.
Indeed, state prosecutors never filed charges, and the Michigan licensing board took no action. Both doctors simply renewed their unrestricted licenses and went back to practicing.
