Guard donkeys.
The family next door to the little church we attended in El Monte, had a donkey. Often when the pastor was preaching, he would start braying! Hmmm, was he encouraging or???
He could be participating. Or he could be guarding against all those teenagers sneaking out. Will they be back in time to fool their parents?
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, and warn Balaam to obey!
Will be a win win if it works.
Protect cattle and wolves.
We don’t have wolves but packs of feral dogs are a menace in many places and more dangerous as they don’t have a healthy fear of humans.
Sheriff’s dept had 2 of their mini horses killed by a pack of dogs a few years ago.
Many people keep donkeys for this very reason.
And donkeys can be very dangerous to smaller livestock and to each other.

Several years ago I let a pokeweed plant grow to small tree size beside my back porch.
I have a picture of my neighbors toddler sitting in it.
It was some good eatin’, too.
The poke salad, not the toddler.
Apparently, Polk/Poke Salad/Sallet is very poisonous if not prepared properly.

Poke is one of the first edible green plants to come up in abundance in early spring.
After a long winter of root veg and hoe cake, it was prized by natives, settlers, po folks and still is by some.
I cook it a few times a year.
Being from way up north I had to look it up, it doesn’t grow this far north. Still I would pass on it because if prepared incorrectly it can be toxic. I’m a very safe eater.
I won’t touch sushi or mushrooms.
We had it growing in Connecticut.

COMMENTARY FOR JOHN 15
Christ the true Vine. (1-8) His love to his disciples. (9-17) foretold. (18-25) The Comforter promised. (26,27)
1-8 Jesus Christ is the Vine, the true Vine. The union of the human and Divine natures, and the fulness of the Spirit that is in him, resemble the root of the vine made fruitful by the moisture from a rich soil. Believers are branches of this Vine. The root is unseen, and our life is hid with Christ; the root bears the tree, diffuses sap to it, and in Christ are all supports and supplies. The branches of the vine are many, yet, meeting in the root, are all but one vine; thus all true Christians, though in place and opinion distant from each other, meet in Christ. Believers, like the branches of the vine, are weak, and unable to stand but as they are borne up. The Father is the Husbandman. Never was any husbandman so wise, so watchful, about his vineyard, as God is about his church, which therefore must prosper. We must be fruitful. From a vine we look for grapes, and from a Christian we look for a Christian temper, disposition, and life. We must honour God, and do good; this is bearing fruit. The unfruitful are taken away. And even fruitful branches need pruning; for the best have notions, passions, and humours, that require to be taken away, which Christ has promised to forward the sanctification of believers, they will be thankful, for them. The word of Christ is spoken to all believers; and there is a cleansing virtue in that word, as it works grace, and works out corruption. And the more fruit we bring forth, the more we abound in what is good, the more our Lord is glorified. In order to fruitfulness, we must abide in Christ, must have union with him by faith. It is the great concern of all Christ’s disciples, constantly to keep up dependence upon Christ, and communion with him. True Christians find by experience, that any interruption in the exercise of their faith, causes holy affections to decline, their corruptions to revive, and their comforts to droop. Those who abide not in Christ, though they may flourish for awhile in outward profession, yet come to nothing. The fire is the fittest place for withered branches; they are good for nothing else. Let us seek to live more simply on the fulness of Christ, and to grow more fruitful in every good word and work, so may our joy in Him and in his salvation be full.
9-17 Those whom God loves as a Father, may despise the hatred of all the world. As the Father loved Christ, who was most worthy, so he loved his disciples, who were unworthy. All that love the Saviour should continue in their love to him, and take all occasions to show it. The joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment, but the joy of those who abide in Christ’s love is a continual feast. They are to show their love to him by keeping his commandments. If the same power that first shed abroad the love of Christ’s in our hearts, did not keep us in that love, we should not long abide in it. Christ’s love to us should direct us to love each other. He speaks as about to give many things in charge, yet names this only; it includes many duties.
18-25 How little do many persons think, that in opposing the doctrine of Christ as our Prophet, Priest, and King, they prove themselves ignorant of the one living and true God, whom they profess to worship! The name into which Christ’s disciples were baptized, is that which they will live and die by. It is a comfort to the greatest sufferers, if they suffer for Christ’s name’s sake. The world’s ignorance is the true cause of its hatred to the disciples of Jesus. The clearer and fuller the discoveries of the grace and truth of Christ, the greater is our sin if we do not love him and believe in him.
26,27. The blessed Spirit will maintain the cause of Christ in the world, notwithstanding the opposition it meets with. Believers taught and encouraged by his influences, would bear testimony to Christ and his salvation.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Today there was a 9/11-style attempt with a Dubai-Tel Aviv flight. A horror flight.
A co-pilot stabbed the pilot. The plane with some 180 passengers and over 100 Israelis went into a long dive.
Heroic Israeli passengers neutralized the terrorist. I didn’t have time to read much news but it looks like the co-pilot (stabber) is from Oman and the pilot is from the UAE.
I had a choice between a blurred footage and the original and I choose the original. So there is a graphic alert because there is a part of the video that shows the stabbed pilot. If you’re sensitive you may want to skip that part.
The pilot triggered a hijack alert and israeli jet fighters were deployed. The entire Israeli Security Establishment was activated.
The day before the Prime Minister alerted against a planned terror attack before the elections in Israel. The Defense Minsiter gave a warning that “if Israelis will be kidnapped, the IDF will flatten Gaza City (Hamas’ last stronghold) until they will be released.
I am not sure how the passengers managed to neutralize the terrorist. I can guess that one or few are trained Special Forces.

Netanyahu said that this was likely an attempt to crush the plane and the terrorist was already messing with the equipment when the passengers saved the day.
The news has been all over the place. Pilot attacked copilot then vice a versa. Russia pilot attacked Ukrainian copilot. Then those were the two that flew after the Omani was subdued.
I had the same question. Weren’t all cockpit doors reinforced after 9/11? How could passengers get in to subdue?
But then, in all that nonsense, something was said about the copilot trying to get the pilot out of the cockpit. If true, that would give an opportunity for passengers. But the pilot could also have been looking for help.
Well, maybe the story will settle down. And maybe we will be told the truth.
But don’t expect leaders to be free from the changing stories. This nonsense gets told to them too.

It was luck or God but there was another pilot on the plane. There is nothing unknown aside for who sent the terrorist if at all. In a few days.I will also know the exact people who confronted the terrorist and where they got their training etc.

Then luckily there was another pilot on the plane who took control.
When asked by Bibi how did he know to do that? He said that he imitated a movie and mentioned the name of the movie. This was a funny moment in the conversation.
There were other passengers who helped to overcome the terrorist.
The hero said that he is sorry that he didn’t kill the terrorist but it will take him a long time to recover.
He then thanked Bibi that he took care of everything personally to get them back home rapidly. Even the little details.

As Jesus and his disciples were proceeding on their journey, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus answered him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.” And to another he said, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.” But he answered him, “Let the dead bury their dead. But you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.” And another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say farewell to my family at home.” Jesus answered him, “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.”

DAILY MEDITATION: LUKE 9:57-62

No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God. (Luke 9:62)
Remember the story of Lot’s wife? Scripture tells us that she was turned into a pillar of salt because she looked backed at Sodom and Gomorrah as they were being destroyed for their sinful behavior (Genesis 19:26). We can assume that it wasn’t just a momentary glance, either. She was looking back at her former life there, wishing that she could return.
Then there’s Elisha, who inherited Elijah’s calling to be a prophet to Israel. When Elijah first called him, Elisha literally had his “hand to the plow,” as he was working on his family’s land (Luke 9:62). Hearing Elijah, Elisha begged, “Let me kiss my father and mother good-bye, and I will follow you” (1 Kings 19:20). Like Lot’s wife, he wanted to look back to “what was left behind” (Luke 9:62).
And now, in today’s Gospel, Jesus meets a similar response from a man he was calling to follow him: “First let me say farewell to my family” (Luke 9:61). And Jesus replies by saying that this man is not yet “fit for the Kingdom of God” (9:62).
So why is Jesus saying that it’s wrong to look back? Because if you are looking back to what you’ve left behind, you can’t be present to what is in front of you. Jesus is calling us to a life of discipleship. He wants our commitment to him to take priority over everything else. And for that to happen, we need to focus our attention on the same path that he traveled—the path of radical obedience to his Father and the path of loving service to the people around us.
It’s true that Jesus’ call is demanding. It can be hard not to “look back” on what we have given up to follow him. But remember that all he is asking is that you take one step at a time. So what’s the next act of obedience? What’s the next act of generosity or mercy? How can you be faithful to the Lord in this moment? Keep your focus on what lies ahead, and the past will loosen its grip on you. Even better, Jesus will be walking beside you, and his embrace will grow stronger with every step!

The “let the dead bury the dead” would have been familiar to Jesus’ disciples. When the Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus was dedicated in Rome, there was a dispute as to which priest could conduct the sacrifices. Horatius Pilvillus was awarded the honor; his adversary tried to get him to leave by telling Horatius as the ceremony began that Horatius’ son had died. Horatius gave quick directions for others to conduct the burial, and went on with the sacrifices to Jupiter.
Augustine points this out in one of his works, can’t recall who Augustine read it from (probably Livy).

And with Him was another being whose countenance had the appearance of a man,
And his face was full of graciousness, like one of the holy angels.
And I asked the angel who went with me and showed me all the hidden things, concerning that
