In the news today are reports that Senate Democrats blocked the “Stop Insider Trading Act,” a bill that had already passed the House to put in place a congressional stock trading ban, and which also had a voter ID requirement attached to it. All of the Senate Democrats voted against it on a 53-47 vote. But because of the zombie filibuster, it needed 60 votes to pass.
The Democrats in the House voted much the same as those in the Senate. HR 7008 passed the House with all 218 Republicans and the one Independent voting Yes, while all but 13 Democrats voted No.
But were the votes in the House and Senate the whole story? I think not. What would the votes have been if the voter ID rule not been attached to the bill? I think you can be sure it would have been an almost unanimous No in the House if not for that attachment, since probably even the sponsors of the bill didn’t want to lose their ability to conduct insider trading. Sponsoring a bill you know will be defeated is not necessarily the same as sponsoring a bill you believe will be approved, now is it?
And all those Senate Republicans voting Yes – how would they have voted if there has been enough support to reach the 60-vote requirement? Indeed, if the zombie filibuster not been required, would all 53 Senate Republicans still have voted Yes? Either way, you can be sure at least enough would have voted No to ensure it failed.
This bill was just a grandstanding waste of time. I bet there wasn’t a dozen members across both houses who would have voted Yes for the insider trading part no matter what, and even with the voter ID part added to it, there still would not have been enough Republicans voting to ensure passage if they thought it was going to pass.
What BS artists they all are.

I have, and I have also read that the picture being used is documented as having been taken in 2018.
Regardless of its genesis, I feel that its message of voting for the left is encouraging the mass invasion of our country again is the primary message we should be reminding the public about, and in the most graphic ways possible. This was President Trump’s #1 campaign promise, the very reason he is President.
Been saying this for months now, the Democrat Party is struggling with turnout, hence the projection campaign focused on the Republicans. Some of their key minority voting blocs are not at all happy with the direction the party is heading in, especially the DSA trajectory being foisted on them by know-nothing white liberals, (cf the black juror’s treatment in the Clancy trial).
