Serbs are perceived as allies of the Russians.

That is why the West’s constant strategy is to weaken the Serbs and thwart the creation of a stable prosperous Serb state by creating and strengthening anti-Serb identities: Croats, Bosnian Muslims, Albanians… and inciting them to attack the Serbs.

But for centuries the region was ruled by foreign powers, the Ottoman, Hungarian and Austrian Empires.
The Serb population was without sovereignty, and the ruling powers used them and shaped them according to their own interests.

Croats are largely descendants of Serbs who converted to Catholicism under the influence of the Austrian or Hungarian Empires, and over several generations adopted a different identity.

Likewise, Bosnian Muslims are descendants of Serbs who converted to Islam under the 
influence of the Ottoman Empire. None of them have stopped speaking Serbian as their mother tongue. The native language of today’s Croats and Bosnian Muslims is Serbian language, they call it “Croatian/Bosnian” because they deny their Serbian roots.

People born in Zagreb, Sarajevo and Belgrade understand each other completely.

It is like if Americans and Australians decided to call their language “American/Australian” and then started claiming that they have nothing to do with the English(language/people/culture), and that the English(people) appropriated their language.

Until 150 years ago, Serbs were the majority population on the Dalmatian/Balkan side of the Adriatic. Religious conversions, assimilations and pogroms were carried out on that population in the interests of the Western powers, and now there are no more Serbs on the Adriatic coast, and that is why Croatia exists and has this geographical shape, and that is why Albania exists (created by Habsburg Empire in (1912-13) – so that Serbs would not have access to the Adriatic either as a people or as a country.

The foreign powers that ruled the Balkans for centuries always deepened these divisions in the originally Serb population and provoked bloody conflicts between divided identities.

So did the NATO powers of the West since the early 1990s.

As a software engineer for 45 years, I find the arrogance and exuberance of people in these professions (AI, “virtual biology” and some cancer researchers) to be off the charts. Just the titles of some articles are ridiculous — “Machines of Loving Grace”. Loving!? Grace!? God, these people are full of themselves.

I compare this to a software team or a newbie engineer who has just been tasked with finding and correcting a defect (or adding a new feature) in a large and complex code base that has recently been acquired due to a corporate acquisition or the departure of a key engineer. He thinks he has fixed the defect or added the new functionality.  But due to the complexity of the code and his superficial understanding (even though he believes otherwise), he unknowingly causes a bug or crash that more than offsets the recent “improvement”. This happens all the time in software development.

Now consider the human genome and the complex molecular world of biochemistry. The complexity is many orders of magnitude greater than software development. EVERYONE in this field, no matter how experienced, does not know the full consequences (especially long term) of their tinkering, with or without AI.

Sure, the AI lab work may well synthesize the “product” they want.  But it cannot determine the actual long term results on a human population over years or decades, even if the AI attempts to do so virtually.  You need a real lab. Unfortunately we ARE the lab. I’m not saying there won’t be successes. But some of us thought mRNA vaccines were risky?   Well we ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.

Of course the government will “step in” to regulate and monitor bio AI so it does not get out of hand.  Sure.

At this point I don’t trust anyone, be it the government, the pharmaceutical companies, or cancer researchers. Not because of any malicious intent or profit motive (though there is that), but because of the sheer arrogance.

Most people respond to self serving issues. For example, as we all know many people respond to money issues.

One thing that makes it difficult for some people to connect the dots is the lag time between political actions and for example inflation (Biden actions from which we are still suffering results). Further complicating such an issue is TPTB doing all they can to point people in the wrong direction and, in this example, keeping oil prices unnaturally high until after the election.

Sec. Bessent is a clear speaker who even some lefties respond to. I saw an interview with him and Bret Baier on this site today where he gave economic numbers that show good news. In other recent interviews he insisted as much oil as previously getting through the Hormuz strait is now coming through.

Perhaps you can wait until she complains about how much everything costs and meanwhile prepare a few short clips from Sec. Bessent to show her how perceptions are being manipulated and how things are actually getting better, even though we will need to wait after the election for oil prices to lower.

If she has enough money right now that prices for are not a pain point, I would look for what in her world is and look for sources to address it.

A lot of well educated lefty women just haven’t experienced financial hardships recently because they/their husbands are feeding from the lefty trough. If that’s her and she doesn’t have financial pain points, I think you will have a hard time reaching her.

If that’s her, she likely is caught in the cycle of “the poor, suffering” whatever — fill in the blank with her group of choice. For example, if it’s men in women’s sports, find news sources that give facts about the other side, for example young college women losing out on scholarships and making their rep in sports while they are young.

One way or another you need to address a pain point she can relate to.

One other suggestion is if you do a search to find the highest paid people on substack, you’ll find a woman who writes a column that many lefty women respond to. She’s a professor I think of history and hates our President/MAGA. I heard one lefty woman say that reading the column “keeps her sane.” You could look at that writer to try and figure out the appeal. I’m sorry I don’t remember the columnist’s name. If you find it, you might look for a conservative columnist who presents the other side.

You won’t succeed if you recommend. You might get results if you ask this, “If I could provide a news source that is currently trending toward liberals and that many conservatives have left in the dust, would you at least give them a try for a while?”

That would be FOX news, and for a staunch supporter of NYT, PBS and likely ABCNNBCBS, it would still be a shock when they see barely only 50% conservative news. If she knows that conservatives are walking away from FOX, she might tune in to her first independent starter news.

Deprogramming is very hard. From NYT to Fox, people tend to use a source that best reinforces what they want to believe. The deeper that belief grows, the more our minds are closed to any information that challenges it. The information source soon defines our core value system.

I would suggest starting with – “The Story of Your Enslavement”. It’s mild shock therapy. For someone with a remaining flame of critical thinking to grab hold of, it can start the process..

When reading the state voters’ guide, for judge candidates it’s always hard to figure out who to vote for. Most of their statements don’t tell much. This little bit of research gives me a good clue if i can’t decide any other way.
