Sometime back I saw the phrase “house panther”. Stole it. We have a Maine Coon mix of some sort inside the house, and one that looks like it could be her baby outside. Unfortunately, the 20 pound inside cat won’t tolerate the 5 or 6 pound outside cat being in the house.
I wish it were otherwise.
That being said, I refer to the inside cat as the “house panther” and the outside cat as the “yard panther”.
Cats ain’t nuthin’ but miniature lions and tigers……and panthers!

Dear Bets
Yesterday, our dear brave Ozzie went to heaven. I had prayed he would slip away peacefully in his sleep, but sadly, that was not to be.
We trapped Ozzie and his sister, Harriet, as tiny babies almost 19 years ago. Harriet, I fear, is nearing the end also- wouldn’t eat this morning without Ozzie. I’ve been so lucky to have them in my life, but…..it is never really enough.
Please forgive me for not replying – I am turning off my phone to go visit with Louisa and Olive.

CS Lewis wrote (paraphrasing) that if we can’t feel grief we have never truly loved. Better, he said, if we want to avoid it to not even put ourselves in the position that we don’t love. And what a terrible thing that would be. I know Harriet will sense his absence, and I know how you hoped he would simply slip away. But given that, bless him, he decided that was not be. What you did for him was the ultimate act of your love and caring. No more suffering…
You have my deepest sympathies which can only come from someone who has made such a decision many times. You and Lloyd gave him the best life he would not have had otherwise. And I hope as you remember Ozzie that knowing you have done so will be an immense comfort for you. No pause or rewind button, is there. And no, in wishing for more time, I admit to being greedy for it as well.I am so sorry…💔

Good morning Betsy. This baby reminds me of my Molly A stray that showed up in my garage at the ranch. She was little enough that she could not have kittens yet so off to the vet, spaying and overall checking.
She never liked the house but preferred the big garage. Was a great mouser for the garage and the surrounding out buildings near the house. Her and Patches, another good mouser, my calico stray, who did present me with three kittens, loved the garage and out buildings. They both lived about 15 years. Miss them to this day. They never acted like feral cats. Always followed me around the ranch and wanted scratches, rubs and a lap when I sat down on our covered porch.
They choose their own surroundings, don’t they. We could never entice our long time feral in, no matter how hot or cold it was outside. They simply choose us as the old adage goes, and then do their own thing. But Molly and Patches obviously vetted you well. I know you miss them both 😌💕

Update, the kitten, now a large cat, my Professor friend took, she named her “Proper” to go with her other cat “Prim”, (Love the names), has become quite entertaining and a good mouser. She also torments her son’s Belgian Melinois , Boomer. Her son has taught her tricks, such as fetch, jump, sit, etc. Funniest thing I have ever seen. She has become a rather elegant looking miniature Panther.
Her and her husband took me to a Brazilian restaurant in Frisco yesterday for my birthday (which is actually today). Then we went shopping in Melissa. Had a great day and the food was beyond amazing!
I took a nap sitting up in my bed one day and Cleo got up and nestled next to me and slept with me the whole nap. Giant progress for her! I think she gets up through the night for a while as well but doesn’t stay there all night.
Percy and Maizie sleep at my feet every night, but if I move my feet, Percy will attack my feet and will hit so hard, she will draw blood. I usually have to get up and doctor the scratches and place bandages on them so I do not bleed all over the sheets. If I have to get up through the night, I will chase her off the bed when I return so she does not attack my feet when I crawl back into bed. She normally returns later, as I see her in the morning when I get up.
Blue is doing okay although, he still has some difficulty rising after laying down, and walks slower than he used to. He still eats good and has not lost weight, so I am hopeful.

I’m sorry for Blue’s senior afflictions. I know it distresses you because you, like all of us who love animals and who are entrusted with their care, we hate to see suffering. Aging is harsh for every living creation of God I am so sorry to say…but I am glad he is in your care as you watch over him to make his long life more endurable.

Once upon a time not that many years ago, somehow we got fleas on two large furry cats in the house.
I kept having to bathe them in Dawn dishwashing soap in an effort to kill the fleas. One cat mostly endured it.
The other, however…..
It took my daughter to help me. You see, that second cat was POSITIVE I was trying to baptize her, and you just can’t baptize a cat.
That cat would freak out and make the most spectacular escape attempts ever.
This involved climbing over my head and onto my back and shoulders.
My daughter’s job was to unclaw the cat from me.

Sounds as if you got what hit us the other day…ours came from nowhere and suddenly just as you describe. The winds!!! Trees bent almost double but still standing after, rain in sheets sideways, torrential. But very much needed. I’d call it a squall, but it was much more than that. I couldn’t help but think of the indescribable, unfathomable power of the Almighty and the arrogance of those who firmly believe that humanity somehow can control weather or climate. If any evidence were needed to disabuse, that was it! 😘👍🏻

The king said to the girl, “Ask of me whatever you wish and I will grant it to you.” He even swore many things to her, “I will grant you whatever you ask of me, even to half of my kingdom.” She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?” She replied, “The head of John the Baptist.” The girl hurried back to the king’s presence and made her request, “I want you to give me at once on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” The king was deeply distressed, but because of his oaths and the guests he did not wish to break his word to her. So he promptly dispatched an executioner with orders to bring back his head. He went off and beheaded him in the prison. He brought in the head on a platter and gave it to the girl. The girl in turn gave it to her mother. When his disciples heard about it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 29
Exhortation to give glory to God.
– The mighty and honourable of the earth are especially bound to honour and worship him; but, alas, few attempt to worship him in the beauty of holiness. When we come before him as the Redeemer of sinners, in repentance faith, and love, he will accept our defective services, pardon the sin that cleaves to them, and approve of that measure of holiness which the Holy Spirit enables us to exercise. We have here the nature of religious worship; it is giving to the Lord the glory due to his name. We must be holy in all our religious services, devoted to God, and to his will and glory. There is a beauty in holiness, and that puts beauty upon all acts of worship. The psalmist here sets forth God’s dominion in the kingdom of nature. In the thunder, and lightning, and storm, we may see and hear his glory. Let our hearts be thereby filled with great, and high, and honourable thoughts of God, in the holy adoring of whom, the power of godliness so much consists. O Lord our God, thou art very great! The power of the lightning equals the terror of the thunder. The fear caused by these effects of the Divine power, should remind us of the mighty power of God, of man’s weakness, and of the defenceless and desperate condition of the wicked in the day of judgment. But the effects of the Divine word upon the souls of men, under the power of the Holy Spirit, are far greater than those of thunder storms in the nature world. Thereby the stoutest are made to tremble, the proudest are cast down, the secrets of the heart are brought to light, sinners are converted, the savage, sensual, and unclean, become harmless, gentle, and pure. If we have heard God’s voice, and have fled for refuge to the hope set before us, let us remember that children need not fear their Father’s voice, when he speaks in anger to his enemies. While those tremble who are without shelter, let those who abide in his appointed refuge bless him for their security, looking forward to the day of judgment without dismay, safe as Noah in the ark.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
