On Saturday, August 22, 2026, retired Judge Michael Chitty denied a motion for a new trial for Karmelo Anthony, the 19-year-old convicted of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf.
Anthony was previously sentenced to 35 years in prison following a June 2026 conviction for the fatal stabbing at a Frisco high school track meet.
Judge Chitty’s order stated that after reviewing the motion, record, evidence, arguments, briefs, and relevant case law, the court determined the motion should be denied. This decision concludes this phase of post-conviction proceedings in Collin County.

Prosecutors showed the texts he sent the morning of the killing, including fantasies about licking blood off a blade after stabbing someone.
Austin’s family has suffered enough.

This guy is a violent psycho killer just coming into his own. He was looking for someone to kill.
imo, 35 years is a “light” sentence. Karmelo should serve life in prison without parole or be given the death penalty for taking Austin’s life.

Talarico is flush with campaign cash. Paxton had to spend what he had beating Cornyn. Paxton has very darned little money to use in rebuttal to Talarico campaign ads.
For instance, apparently there is a TV ad floating around that asserts that Paxton chose to drop a case against a child predator. According to Paxton (on a telephone town hall discussion several days ago), his office took the case to trial but ended up with a hung jury. They wanted to retry the case but the minor victim was too upset and did not want to testify again. Case over.

Who is screaming loudest and most obnoxiously for “democracy”?
Those are the ones who might benefit from seeing this.
I absolutely HATE IT when people refer to the U.S. as a democracy. IT IS NOT A DEMOCRACY.
Our elections are democratic, but our government is republican.
Our elections are corrupt.

So we are a republic with a democracy, so our democracy is not wrong. People get way to worked up about this.
We are a representative constitutional republic with a limited democracy with check and balances like the Bill of Rights and electoral college for the Presidency. I really don’t want to have to say that every I talk about the nation.
Republic does not guarantee majority rule, it means not ruled by a monarch. See the Republic of China, the Republic of North Korea, the Republic of Cuba, Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Iran, also remember the United Socialist Soviet Republic, which is now the Russian Federation. None of those have majority rule.
What is correct is we are not a true or pure democracy, and we never want to be one.
Also all those countries had Constitutions too, so a Constitution alone doesn’t guarantee majority rule either.
I don’t care if we declare ourselves hippos in pink tutus 🩰 🦛 as long as we adhere to the Constitution and enforce free and fair elections. 🇺🇸💕
The USSR did not “become” the Russian Federation. The USSR disappeared. It was abandoned. Russia was its geographically largest member, and the most influential. But the Union failed.
There is only one type of Democracy and the Founders were totally against it.
The Political Science term Representative Democracy is a good example of such BS.
There is no mention of Democracy in the Founding Documents.
Democracy = Mob Rule! Our elections are not Democratic. There are many restrictions on who can vote which is a good thing. The Founders had more restrictions and for good reason.
