The South Carolina Senate race between Darline Graham and Ralph Norman will be very interesting to watch as the runoff date arrives soon, August 25th.
Darline Graham is supported by President Trump, the NRSCC, the professional republican class and the new endorsement from the 3rd place candidate Russell Fry. Additionally, Darline Graham has been endorsed by Senator Lisa Murkowski, Senator Tim Scott and other very well-known Republican brand names.
Mrs Graham has also picked up a $1 million Super-PAC donation from the leftist “Invest in Tomorrow Coalition” a clean energy and climate change advocacy group. They will be running ads against Ralph Norman.
That said, CTH has a strong hunch that Ralph Norman is going to win. There’s an internal poll showing Norman with a 12-point advantage (52/40); however, that’s not the strongest indicator.
A very unscientific review of voter sentiment visible on social media reflects a profound rejection of the Lindsey Graham legacy vote. While it is entirely possible those voices are just more algorithmically visible than Darline Graham supporters, there sure are a lot of South Carolina republican voters willing to support Ralph Norman over Graham.
It’s weird because no one seems overly enthusiastic for either candidate but voting Norman over Graham appears to be the least bad option. Darline Graham’s record working for leftist NGOs has many people rejecting her as an option.

I think that PT’s endorsement of Darline Graham was for the sole reason that he was a good friend of her brother. I don’t think it means anything more than that and no one should think that it does. If SC voters find reasons to prefer Norman over her, and it sounds like the list of such reasons is growing every day, then they should vote accordingly, regardless of PT’s endorsement. PT will probably not have any problem seeing Norman elected over her.

It is his call and his alone. If Norman wins, I do believe that President Trump will be very supportive of him, and happy that the people of SC voted for their preferred candidate.

Open primaries won’t be a factor on August 25, but Darlene is supported by the more “liberal” parts of the state so conservative Republicans will definitely need to show up and vote for Ralph Norman.

I live in SC and voted for Norman. He has a history of standing up and keeping his word. He also has had a successful career out of politics. I have met him and did not know who he was. He was strait forward in his positions. He will not be bought out.

Sydney knows more about skeletons in closets than she does about representing constituents. She’ll likely use her skills accordingly.
Joe started out chair of the Sarasota County Republican Party. Served in both State House and State Senate, then became Chair of the Republican Party of Florida, and is now Chair of the RNC. He also lead PDJT’s campaign in 2016 here in Florida. Endeared himself to President Trump effectively and professes his MAGA credentials but is really a stealth RINO. He tried real hard to get open primaries here in Florida. He was complicit in removing all MAGA members from several County Republican Parties over the last year or so.
Many of us are fearful she’ll be elected just because of President’s endorsement and name recognition. It carries a lot of weight, after all. Especially when the RNC has ballotted so many candidates guaranteed to split the vote.

Totally agree. As soon as she was appointed, I got an email from her talking about running for the seat. Totally turned me off as did the fact that she reverted to her maiden name as well. I think that was for name recognition, which unfortunately plays a role in elections for those not well informed about the candidates. I was hoping to have a better choice than Norman but will definitely vote for him.

Mark Sanford has endorsed no one, his son endorsed Norman. Never Trump Senator Lisa Murkowski has endorsed Darlene and given her money. Various never Trump PACs have also given her money. Originally when she was asked to take over until the election she said she didn’t want to be in politics. She’s never held political office prior to being appointed to finish out her brother’s term. We’re not in a position to chose a someone based on good feelings or hoping they’ll carry on a legacy.
Rep. Ralph Norman is a battle tested staunch MAGA conservative with a voting record to back it. We need a sure thing in the Senate, not a hope and a prayer. We’ve been burned too many times.

Resident of the upstate of SC. The upstate is generally pretty conservative and likely to go with Norman in a big way. But the low country is not likewise inclined. Overall, SC is highly susceptible to swamp advertising and with the Trump loyalists its going to be a tough slog. Primaries are not closed in SC so expect some crossover.

Lindsey Graham proved himself to be absolutely no good when he tried to introduce a national ban on abortion during the last midterms, right after the Supreme Court had given states the right to decide.
Fox’s Jesse Watters actually reamed Lindsey live on-air about introducing a risky bill that could panic independents into voting Democrat during the 2022 midterms. Graham was so flustered, all he could say was, “If not now, when? If not me, who?”
Regardless of President Trump’s endorsement, perhaps the good people of South Carolina know better and would prefer that no one named Graham ever is in power again.
I live in coastal SC. Our population quadruples in summer, and the blue state exodus has brought many leftists moving here. What I see and hear mostly are extremes and very little middle. Most are vehemently opposed to Mrs Nordone because she was relatively unknown until she made a sympathy ad for her brother’s campaign about his having sacrificed to raise her since Trump didn’t endorse him this time.
Then there are the ones (fewer in number) who breathlessly support her because, well I don’t know why. They don’t seem to, either.

People with the age and experience of Ralph Norman should be unpaid, voluntary advisors to the government not running for the senate where they may be till the age of 79 or older. Too many old politicians and too many young politicians – these should only be the exceptions. There needs to be term limits and people need to have experience outside of government in the real world before running for senator. If terms were six years much of the dead wood and many self enriching senators would be out.
