Skunks are another story, dogs seem not to mind the smell (as long as they don’t get it in the eyes) but seem to be proud of and relish in the smell of skunk.
I have a neighbor like that. He does it in the backyard which is useless because it stinks up half the block!
Thank goodness we don’t have porkys down here.

Had a pup almost die from tangling with a Colorado River toad. Got to him just in time, washed his mouth out with a hose for several minutes – then gave him copious amounts of steroid. Vet said it was all he would have done and if he made it through the night, bring him in.
By morning, he was chasing squirrels. Miss my boy, Kemosabe.
Those toads come out during monsoon season – on occasion there have been 50 of them on our patio! I know, because one of the grandkids counted them that night!
Normally, our dogs studiously ignore the toads, but…..you never know. The ERs around here get a few dopey kids in each year that have licked a toad and have turned into a slobbering moron rather than a prince!

The vast majority of the frog species found in Wisconsin are not poisonous. However, Pickerel frogs have skin secretions that can cause mild reactions in humans, and American Toads are highly toxic to pets.

You should smell the teen boys in a high school, especially the freshmen. They haven’t learned that less is more, yet. And I have only met one high school girl/young woman who likes the stuff; most hate it.
I have perfume-triggered asthma and every year I have to yell at the freshmen (whose hallway is outside my room) to stop with the Axe, as it reliable triggers an asthma attack. I keep an organic-cartridge respirator in my classroom; have only had to use it once in 12 years.
After so many years around industrial chemicals I am hyper sensitive so I can relate!

Tens of thousands of people moved toward a small European territory on the North African coast, many entering through the sea, swimming around border barriers or walking through shallow coastal waters. Spain’s Interior Ministry estimated that approximately 50,000 people entered Ceuta within twenty-four hours. Local estimates placed the total over several days even higher.
Calling such an event merely “migration” risks concealing its political significance. Migration ordinarily describes the movement of individuals and families from one country to another. What occurred in Ceuta looked less like an orderly migratory process than a mass breach of a sovereign border. That distinction matters.
The language of victory
One of the most revealing aspects of the images was not simply the crossing of the border itself but the manner in which some immigrants presented it.
Videos circulated in Arabic social media showing young people documenting their journey, celebrating their arrival and making signs of victory after reaching European territory. President Trump has increased the spending for large ships and many more airplanes.
That kind of expenditure might be better used in upgrading drone production and stealth capability of drones. Throw in the ability to remove mass drones from attacking us.
We need a large AI drone capability that could be continuously hunting Basij troops running checkpoints, entrances to underground weapons, hunting activity at all Iranian nuclear sites, hunting for launchers in Port Cities, Hunting for troops anywhere. A massive drone use would be able to prohibit any military activity in Iran. For a lot less than what we are going to spend on billion dollar planes and ships. Warfare is being revolutionized.
These are judgements that are always presented with one sided backing information.
The carrier ended the usefulness of battleships. We even stopped making them in WWII. But we kept finding good uses for them for over 40 more years.
Missiles have guaranteed that carriers will go the way of the battleship. Sunk in the next big conflict. But they still are used to great effect. Still a tool for concentrating force and projecting it all over the world.
And, while drones have transformed the Ukraine War. They have failed to take down our navy despite massive attacks by Iran.
Furthermore, how much is being spent on drones? Has that increased too?
Finally, do we really want to create a terminator like future with hunter killer machines deployed in such quantities that only AI can control and direct them?

When I was teaching my kids how to ski a few years ago, all I was getting were complaints.

But the fear that shows up as complaints is only part of the story.
There’s also a fear that shows up as false accusation and the refusal to listen.
Stephen, an agent of reassurance, was also subjected to slander.

My husband decided we needed to take ski lessons. He had a blast. My youngest and I ended up bruised and wet and miserable. The instructor actually laughed when my kid (about 75 lbs) ended up running into a tree and getting a bloody nose. My kid and I never did manage to get stopped on the stupid things, but my husband (on identical skis) had a great time. He also weighed a lot more than we do, which apparently makes stopping easier so your turned skis don’t keep ‘floating’ over the top of the snow (never understood). I ended up in the car spending half an hour with an upset, cold, wet kid with a bleeding nose.
I did not need reassurance. I needed competent instruction, which I did not get.
In Acts 6, the apostles were studying scripture, seeking God’s instruction. Some of the former Pharisees had joined the church by that time. The accusers in Acts 6 violate Deuteronomy 19; this is doubly interesting, in that in chapter 7, God uses Stephen to become the second witness to testify to these parts of Jasher. The false accusers are subject to the punishment their lies will bring for Stephen.
Stephen then lectured the Sadducees from the scriptures and from Jasher. What most miss, is that he is reciting occasions when the individual failed to follow God’s specific instruction the first time, got it right the next time. They kill Stephen before allowing him to finish the remainder of the pattern: you killed Him the first time, you will worship Him the next time.
Saul/Paul heeds Gamaliel’s advice, and only watches as Stephen is stoned. Gamaliel was a Pharisee. Later, Saul obtained permission from the Sadducees to persecute the church. Jesus asks Saul on the road to Damascus, “Is it not hard to kick against the goads?” Saul has become exactly what he thought he was opposing. Cat did not move and barely breathed. Paws hanging limp.

I put cat down slowly maintaining my stare.
From that point on it decided it was my cat and ignored wife who raised it from a kitty.

Damned cat became jealous as heck of any attention I paid to wife and doggies.

COMMENTARY FOR ROMANS 15:13
Directions how to behave towards the weak. (1-7) All to receive one another as brethren. (8-13) The writing and preaching of the apostle. (14-21) His purposed journeys. (22-29) He requests their prayers. (30-33)
8-13 Christ fulfilled the prophecies and promises relating to the Jews, and the Gentile converts could have no excuse for despising them. The Gentiles, being brought into the church, are companions in patience and tribulation. They should praise God. Calling upon all the nations to praise the Lord, shows that they shall have knowledge of him. We shall never seek to Christ till we trust in him. And the whole plan of redemption is suited to reconcile us to one another, as well as to our gracious God, so that an abiding hope of eternal life, through the sanctifying and comforting power of the Holy Spirit, may be attained. Our own power will never reach this; therefore where this hope is, and is abounding, the blessed Spirit must have all the glory. “All joy and peace;” all sorts of true joy and peace, so as to suppress doubts and fears, through the powerful working of the Holy Spirit.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

SIMPLE SERENITY
When searching for simple serenity
The falsehood mask obscures verity
No way to determine or to perceive
The secret agenda there to deceive
What clues are provided for clarity
When relevance becomes a rarity

We can’t move on when we do not let go
Of memories past tugging to and fro

You Were Born Into Slavery… And You Don’t Even Know It
I wanted to address something near and dear to my heart.
Today is August 6th. In my world, that is what I call Hiroshima Day.
In my opinion every bit as important as Pearl Harbor Day.
I, and many of you are here because of August 6, 1945. My dad was a B-29 mechanic on Tinian Island that momentous day.
Everyone knew, if the enemy (I’m feeling gracious) did not capitulate after that, we were invading Japan. That would have caused at least a million American casualties – easy.
I give my thanks every year to those brave men who did it all for us. On Aug 9th, it will be Nagasaki Day. Same scenario.
God Bless those courageous enough to make those decisions and carry it out.

I found this series explaining the variations in ancient biblical Scriptures
I am a bit disappointed. They have given up on finding the ‘original’. And Christian history was abandoned for Jewish tradition.
That last was done long ago. And it is sort of happening anew with Modern analysis, except they feel free to blend the various sources.
But what does it mean to use the Septuagint, argue it against the Jewish tradition, and then totally abandon it for the Jewish tradition.
I would have never believed that our English versions from long ago were the Jewish tradition.
It is not mentioned in the discussion, but the age of the Earth based on Septuagint life spans is 7500 yrs, not the 6000 yrs in our bibles. Not a big thing, but there are a lot of derivative theories that would have to be scrapped.
Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.
Give me patience to wait for Your perfect timing, and may I not trust in my own abilities and scheming, but rather rest in Your love and trust my future into Your hands.
And so now Lord, I commit this night to you, asking that I would rest soundly and wake refreshed and strong to do Your bidding. This I ask in Jesus’ precious name,

Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.
My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
