My problem with names though isn’t primarily forgetting them, it is learning them in the first place. Just amazing how long you can go without ever calling people by their name. But random needs to introduce friends to each other trip me up every time.

Today is their last day flying out of Davis Monthan AFB.
Yesterday, 2 came over uncharacteristically slowly. Made me sad.
About an hour ago, they came over faster and lower than we have ever experienced!
It was thrilling! It literally caused me to jump out of my seat cheering. God Bless them that aircraft and those pilots.

What a great song. I began a teaching career in ’68. Taught as a 1st year teacher at a small HS. Our school, predominately Mexican American, had a number of students from farm-worker families. Several had been working the fields in California. Several of my students related a touching story.
“Their” farmers were well enough off to have sizable swimming pools. The migrant kids, who were housed on the property, were often invited to use the farmer’s swimming pools. I always thought these were poignant stories from those hard times.
When I again encountered some of these students in my college classes, I distinctly remember one young woman who told me how she both appreciated and never forgot the kindness of these farmers in far away California.

My Dad could parallel park a full-sized Trailways bus. I learned about ‘double clutching’ at age 11. . . Many grown-up years later, I was offered a chance to drive a 50’s vintage Ferrari 212 Inter GT car. My owner friend grumbled about how the gearbox always made grinding noise when shifting. As he said this, I was smoothly double clutching my way through the gears. That long ago lesson was fondly remembered. Thanks, Dad. 🙂

Biography: Considered the greatest Dutch painter after Rembrandt.
Van Gogh was a largely self-taught artist who remained poor and unknown throughout his life. Today, his paintings are some of the most expensive in the world. Van Gogh’s “Portrait of Dr. Gachet” sold for $82.5 million and “Irises” for $53.9 million.

Biography: Best known for developing crystallography of biochemical compounds, Hodgkin’s work in determining the molecular structure of penicillin and vitamin B12 brought her the 1964 Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
Hodgkin became the second woman to receive the Order of Merit after Florence Nightingale, the 1st woman to receive the Copley medal in 1976 from the Royal Society, and was appointed Chancellor of Bristol University serving 1970-88.
Dedicating much of her later life to social activism, Hodgkin was president of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs (1975-88). Seeking peaceful progress toward international development and security, she accepted the Lenin Peace Prize in 1987 in recognition of her humanitarian ambitions.
In 2016 a magnitude 7 earthquake hit the Kumamoto region of Japan causing extensive damage. Included in that was the Aeon Mall which had to be closed as the damage was severe. Over several years Aeon rebuilt the mall to meet the more modern earthquake standards. In the meantime Aeon set up shops in the area to sell meals at cost to those in need and to provide jobs.
The mall had just reopened last month and was full of people when another earthquake hit yesterday evening. After the shaking stopped mall employees assisted customers out of the mall. The mall had survived this latest earthquake but no one expected a gas leak to cause an explosion which tore through the two story mall one hour after all the shoppers had been evacuated. Four Aeon employees are still missing.

At least it got approved. If not, the rest of us would never get to see it.
I don’t know all the causes for instantaneous seeking of approval.
Judging by Adrem suggestions to others, sometimes it can be a change in the extraneous information we use to identify us. Once I accidentally copied extraneous material in my username and instantly got binned for approval. Took me 2 posts sent to approval to notice my new username and fix it.
Some people have been advised to change some character, but I don’t recall details. Maybe an apostrophe in the name?
From personal experience it can be from content that is borderline questionable, but nothing looks like that in your post.
You get to see the message with the waiting approval notice until the decision is made. Approval usually means you get an email message saying it is approved. And then others get to see it too. Failure to get approval has no email message, and your message is gone.
Having your message disappeared quickly, generally means you did something really wrong. Only the staff know what that might be. But it is useful to review the comment guidelines to make sure your post was compliant.
I think I remember adrem saying that they have found good posts that had gone straight to trash, skipping approval. Software is always finicky.
Double check your info. Username, email, website to make sure that they are the same as always. Beyond that, your post looks good with the guidelines. So, whatever the cause, the minders did you right and approved it. And that ends my usefulness, if I had any to start with.

12 confirmed dead. Six have no vital signs.
That may sound confusing to Americans but doctors have to declare death before they are counted as dead. They will not make the declaration until a family member is present.
This happened to Shinzo Abe. He had no vital signs but they waited until his wife arrived to say goodbye before declaring his death. It’s a custom there.

COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 89
God’s mercy and truth, and his covenant. (1-4) The glory and perfection of God. (5-14) The happiness of those in communion with him. (15-18) God’s covenant with David, as a type of Christ. (19-37) A calamitous state lamented, Prayer for redress. (38-52)
1-4 Though our expectations may be disappointed, yet God’s promises are established in the heavens, in his eternal counsels; they are out of the reach of opposers in hell and earth. And faith in the boundless mercy and everlasting truth of God, may bring comfort even in the deepest trials.
5-14 The more God’s works are known, the more they are admired. And to praise the Lord, is to acknowledge him to be such a one that there is none like him. Surely then we should feel and express reverence when we worship God. But how little of this appears in our congregations, and how much cause have we to humble ourselves on this account! That almighty power which smote Egypt, will scatter the enemies of the church, while all who trust in God’s mercy will rejoice in his name; for mercy and truth direct all he does. WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
