My two daughters figured it out their very first paycheck. They both looked at their paycheck and shouted “hey the amount is wrong”. Then I pointed out Social security tax and Medicare tax were withheld. They didn’t even make enough to have income tax withheld! They were not impressed.
I call it the ‘shock of the first paycheck’ that turns out to be the shock of knowing how hard you work to have it ‘taken out of’ before you even get it in your hand.
It’s hard lesson to teach your kids!! And even harder explaining; the more you make the more they take!!
I was so lucky all my kids found jobs that they loved and got job satisfaction; while having to have two working class parents to raise their kids in a good fashion. Family dynamics changed…….

Where the Buffalo Science Museum is located in the east side of the city is a major location for Muslims moving in because the housing is poor and cheap to buy up. A pardon negates his ability to plead the 5th? That would require a Republican Party that has a spine…..he has no worry in front of this Republican body.
Yes they would have to hold Fauci in contempt. They are discussing that and considering that right now. They GOP has no testicles.
But this “pardon” cannot be valid, because Fauci has never (yet …) been brought to trial, convicted and sentenced. Therefore, there is nothing to “reprieve” or “pardon.” These two words apply to sentences and punishments, necessarily those that exist.
I think somehow there is a legal loophole to this future crimes pardon. I seem to remember it being discussed when Biden’s auto pen pardoned his family and friends like Fauci for anything that might come up later on the possible indictments for crimes committed while serving the govt. or something like that. Maybe someone has further info on how that was made ok to do.
Then he can plead the fifth and be charged though not on all charges. Some the statute of limitations has expired on, so he can’t plead the fifth on those either if I understand correctly as he can’t be tried for those crimes either.

Most people don’t know a thing about food ingredients.

But they are total experts in fashion, sports and celebrities, of course. They know all the latest trends pushed by shallow influencers, but they have zero knowledge of what’s happening in the world and why their life is becoming more difficult by the day.

Not sure if the problem is as extreme as that, but I do agree people are not as curious or willing to look further at what causes those things or what real facts are anymore. Part of it is because people are too busy with jobs etc to stop and do some real investigating on their own. They rely on the easy tech telling them what they think are the facts. I am quite sure that today’s “performance” by Fauci will decisively force the Constitutional issue of his (autopenned …) “blanket” (sic …) pardon.
The Constitution allows the President to grant “reprieves” and “pardons.” But, both of these English words refer only to punishments and sentences that have already been imposed, i.e. after trial and conviction. The President can choose to “let you out,” but only after you have been “put in!”
The autopen instead tried to grant Fauci (and many others) immunity from being prosecuted at all. Or even tried, or accused. It even tries to block criminal charges not yet conceived! Indeed, it tries to say that you are: “Declared innocent … past, present, and future!”
Even if such a proclamation had been “wet signed” – which it wasn’t – the Constitution does not grant authority for this. This time, the anonymous users of the autopen, knowing themselves to be “guilty as hell,” went too far. If anyone could actually do this, why have Courts at all?

I just read the SAVE Act, to see for myself what the big deal is about it. It does not require presentation of valid ID to vote. It only requires presentation of valid ID to register to vote. Unless the person requires a provisional ballot on election day for not being registered yet, then she must provide a valid ID requiring citizenship.
Would the SAVE Act prevent ballot box stuffing and tabulation fixing? It does require voter rolls to be purged of non-citizens. But it does not name the process by which citizenship of voters, who are already registered to vote, is to be verified.
The SAVE Act seems a weak bill to me. It lacks detail to address all the elections problems that have been identified, since 2020 especially. A more stringent bill, with greater detail might have better support.

For example, usually when Congress requires local governments to perform a function, such as purging voter rolls, there will be some money included in the bill to pay for it. This bill does not provide that.
When the SAVE Act runs into such opposition in the Senate, for a seemingly innocuous bill, I have to ask myself if it was ever intended to be passed into law? Perhaps it was always to be used as a basis of negative ads in the election, taking old Senator Snort to task for refusing to vote for the electoral equivalent of Apple Pie. Bills used to demagogue appear regularly. But in this case a serious bill is needed.
They object to the bill as too stringent. So a more stringent bill woulEveryd have even less support.
