The contractor responsible for the software used by the New Jersey Dept of Motor Vehicles to uplink voter registration to the state elections office is now saying their software did not cause 6,600 illegal aliens to be registered voters.
Someone in New Jersey government had to create that link to register the voters.
The USA Today has responses from IDEMIA, a France-based company that provides technology for issuing identity documents also used by 36 different states.

”There was no glitch or software error,” said Shoemaker, whose firm also handles a wide array of federal contracts, including TSA Pre-Check at airports and “biometric and secure identity solutions” at the Pentagon.

Shoemaker told USA TODAY the firm followed the written specifications issued by New Jersey in 2023, when it won a contract to collect self-attested responses, including a box to check about interest in registering to vote for people applying for or renewing a driver’s license or state-issued identification card.
Those written specifications, Shoemaker said, included the order of the questions. First, would you like to register to vote? Second, are you a U.S. citizen? And third − and only for those who answered yes to citizenship − select a party affiliation.
The state tested the software itself and approved it for deployment in 2023, Shoemaker told USA TODAY. (read more).

In many states, jury duty rosters are pulled from voter registration rolls.

The contractor simply forwards the individual’s information to the responsible NJ government agency for verification and further action. Knowing NJ, I would expect that all those who self-identify as Democrats get a rubber stamp, while most others are mysteriously misplaced.

California does use software from IDEMIA for its Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), having selected the vendor in October 2025 to issue all driver’s licenses and identification cards.

“Authorized Personnel or Program” can unlock input forms (Records) in the database.

I saw other reporting today that 75k non-citizens are called to jury duty every year in New Jersey. You only get added to jury duty rolls if you are also already on the voter rolls, and only a fraction of registered voters get called to jury duty every year. The numbers are much much worse than they are telling us.
