That was a great interview. I wish all these other folks could stay on subject, and treat our President with the respect that he deserves. Thank You Jenny Taft!
Jenny Taft was great. I sometimes forget what it’s like to have someone conduct an interview that isn’t about gotcha moments, hostility, and the ego of the reporter. She was engaging and kept the focus on the world cup while still being flexible enough to let the off-the-cuff remarks add some interest. Trump couldn’t remember Mbappe’s name (who just passed Messi in the Golden Boot race), but I found that more funny than annoying. He just called him “France.” Heh.
Taft caught Trump off guard with that “ranking” question, but he handled it well – especially considering he’s probably watched about zero minutes of soccer since 2015. Can you imagine Obama’s response had someone asked him to name his all-time baseball or football stars?
Obama would say “Colin Kaepernick” then start scolding and lecturing.

I played soccer in HS. We were a girls team. The guys said that was a girle game they would never play. There were no guys soccer team in my HS. Thank You God.

The image that popped into my head was the Macy Thanksgiving Parade, where the “acts” all stop in front of the Macy’s store and do a 2 minute performance.
Frankly…it was as boring as the game itself 🙂
Do you feel better being so negative? Outside of Madonna, the entertainment in the break was positive and child centered to unify people. Different kind of musicians to include all people. It was about love and coming together. The kids being there was wonderful. Bieber singing about gratitude with Hallelujah was on the mark. And the speech by Tom Cruise was inspirational.
England and France took all the goals and left none for the Final.
Yesterday’s game was a lol sh!tshow, but very entertaining.
At least they both could leave the field with heads high.

Before his first election in 2008, Obama was given the softball question of who was his favorite all time White Sox. The poseur South Sider didn’t know enough to mention either Dick Allen or Harold Baines, or Minnie Minoso, or any popular or HOF player, irrespective of race. And, when he chose to not provide any name at all, was never pressed on the matter by local “journalists”. As someone who attended St. Mary’s at 138th & Leyden in Chicago during the 1960’s, the posturing, ignorance, and pretend love for the Sox was obvious. This interview is 180 degrees opposite.
He also called their stadium “Cominskey Field”. Didn’t even know the name of their stadium.
He was PRETENDING to be a baseball fan and got tripped up.
It is amazing how nimble, durable, skilled and smart some people can be with their 2 feet and a soccer ball.
It is also amazing how nimble, durable, physically conditioned and smart some people can be to stop a ball from entering a wide / tall net for over 2 hours.
And then have a tournament with teams from all across the world – to see whom plays the sport better
( within the same rules ). : )
There is no bigger sport in the world, and it was an amazing 5 weeks of great sportsmanship.
