UPDATE: During a video on X, Graham Platner has resigned.
Most people understand the dynamic with Graham Platner has come down to price. How much are the Communists going to have to pay to get the Nazi rapist to leave the Maine senatorial race.
There are various storylines surrounding the negotiations [Example Here], but the bottom line is how much can Platner get for his exit? Former Communist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders cashed out for a couple of new houses and various indulgences within the party apparatus. Sanders is also reportedly counseling Platner on terms.
Platner has until Monday at 5:00pm to exit so that Democrats can appoint a replacement candidate.
…”Two sources say Katz has told allies he believes Platner should to leave the race before the 5 p.m. Monday deadline to withdraw from the ballot — but wants the exit to be on the candidate’s terms.
“It’s quite clear that he’s [Platner’s] gonna have to get out of the race,” a second source told The Post. “Their reluctance here … is a result of their larger political project, trying to get these types of candidates into places of power. {SOURCE}

A not irrelevant question remains: Who votes for Collins? I mean, ever?
Maybe she doesn’t support the Save America Act because it wouldn’t save her seat in the Senate.
Election-related:
Arizona Supreme Court Delivers Crushing Blow to Maricopa Board of Supervisors * The Gateway Pundit *:
“… According to the Supreme Court’s News Release:
The Board of Supervisors argued that its budgetary and administrative authority permitted it to assign those functions to a Board-appointed elections director.
The Court concluded that the Recorder is likely to prevail on the statutory interpretation issue. Relying on Arizona precedent, the Court explained that a county board of supervisors may not use its funding authority to assume or reassign statutory responsibilities entrusted to an independently elected county officer.
Platner was vetted by the democrat primaries. That vetting was a source of intel for the republican candidate to build opposition research upon.
The democrats should be forced to pay the republican candidate a very large sum. The republican candidate has had to put together research, a team, plans and monies to campaign against Platner. Now all of that has to be done all over again for whichever democrat the party choses to run. The new candidate will not be vetted by the primary process, putting even more of a burden onto the republican candidate.
Negotiating a price to get out sounds an awful lot like capitalism to me. This is to help Democrat socialists though, so none of them will mention that.
Who recruits these screwballs to run for office?
In a perfect world, people chose to run for office themselves. They are not recruited And then make their best case on an even playing field to the voters.
Since 1962 however, the Democrat-voting government unions have become the King Makers. Ironic, isn’t it? No Kings and all that.
How about offering more than his mother’s own restaurant to buy his oysters?
Somehow, something just doesn’t compute.
In this country, how can a person whose name never appeared on the initial primary ballot – and was never initially chosen by the people – be allowed to run in the general election and possibly serve in a high federal position?
Why can’t Maine hold a special election to fill the vacancy left by Platner’s departure? After all, the general election is still about 4 months away.
Are there any rules or laws about this type of situation at any level – federal, state or political party? After all, such a vacancy could occur if a candidate became severely disabled or died.
In short, how can a state political party shove a person down voters’ throats, with no actual public voter approval?
It just doesn’t seem to line up with how American representatives and senators are voted into office.
We used to determine presidential candidates in smoke filled rooms before primaries came along in the 1970’s. The chaotic 1968 Democrat Convention changed the way we nominate presidential candidates.
Appoint a replacement? What happened to we have to save our democracy. Is that only good for the goose, but not the gamder?
