Hours before the news broke, Maine Senate Democrat candidate Graham Platner cancelled all his campaign events.
A woman has just come forward to Politico with a direct accusation that Platner raped her.
(Via Politico) – A woman who dated Maine U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner says he forced her to have sex with him nearly five years ago despite her repeated objections, an allegation Platner denies.
The woman, a 41-year-old Maine resident named Jenny Racicot, detailed the alleged incident to POLITICO in three interviews over the past two weeks. POLITICO also spoke with a man Racicot dated and confided in the years after the alleged incident, and reviewed documents, including emails between Racicot and her therapist and messages between Racicot and an acquaintance whom she warned against getting involved with Platner years before he ran for office.
[…] he entered her rural Maine home uninvited one night in late 2021, deeply intoxicated, and forced himself on her while she repeatedly told him to stop. She said she cut off contact with him after telling him the encounter was not consensual.
“I remember him grabbing my pelvis and being really forceful of me,” she said. “I remember the specific moment where I thought to myself, like, ‘This is no longer my choice.’”

It is not accidental these damning revelations are surfacing now with a sense of urgency behind them.
I don’t believe it. He seems more like a ‘taker’ than a ‘giver.’
I know 1 way Collins could secure a win. That said, Maine has played a role for decades…..
Two problems collide: 1) Men are often falsely accused; 2) A lot of women don’t report actual sexual assault, for a variety of reasons. My usual response to an accusation is to suspend judgment.
Am I alone in assuming, at this point, all “historical claims which emerge at a critical time in someone’s campaign” is highly questionable? And my favorite part is how she is conflicted about coming forward because of political alignment. That level of crazy actually makes it more convincing somehow. She’d be a great one to export to the UK to visit some of the pakis out there.
I suspect every accusation such as what was made about this unless it was reported pretty immediately. Once the person making the claim gets away from that person whom they are now accusing they could have reported it back then as soon as they were out of his presence. If they feel safe and okay casting that claim against him at this point in time they would have felt as safe doing it sooner than waiting until he’s running for office or until they think they can file a lawsuit.
Sounds like he had “The Visit.” Some very large men wearing very expensive suits took him out to a very expensive restaurant, table in a very private room. And presented him with Title 21-A §374-A. And suggested that he will not be on the general election ballot for one of those three reasons. And noted the withdrawal date. Which, if missed, would leave only the other two options remaining. And suggesting that after July 13th he make peace with his maker.
They then laughed it up. Before abruptly closing with an unmistakable cold stare and death grip handshake suggesting he choose wisely.
Not Hollywood. Real life. Because that is real life in that world.

In other words, honestly who cares? If he raped you, file a criminal complaint. If he’s guilty then next steps. Punish or just put him in DC with the rest of the slime balls.

Only slime balls are allowed to be (s)elected. Skeletons in closets are an effective means of control for those in the business of knowing such things.

Reflect on what exactly? Look at Clinton, etc. Their sexual misconduct didn’t cause them to reflect, nor did it slow down their campaigns or wins. Clinton wasn’t even removed from the presidency, for heaven’s sake.
