I am a resident of that Congressional District in Nevada. LTC Flippo appeared out of nowhere as a candidate several months ago, and overwhelmed the district airwaves and mailing with text-book campaign images and verbiage, easily defeating the two long-term candiadates who were long-term residents of the district. A Las Vegas resident until two months before, he rented a local residence at the last minute, to run in the only reliable Republican district in Nevada thanks to gerrymandering. Flippo’s entire campaign was ads reflecting his military service and title endlessly, and copybook talking points on immigration. A packaged candidate with deep pocket support by others. Not impressive. As soon as the primary was won, poof, invisible so far.
I have become extremely cynical of politicians of the “Republican” persuasion.
Unfortunately there is no way to know unless or until they are elected when we can judge them by their fruits, bitter or sweet. Which is why I phrased my comment the way I did.

It’s worse here in California, but I’m in my 80s and there’s no way I’m packing up and trying to find somewhere else to go that may probably just end up turning blue anyway.

Vegas resident here. Amodi’s district is Northern Nevada. From the California border at Reno, including Carson City, all the way west to the Utah border. There are a lot of MAGA folks along the I-80. Ranchers and mining. Not as much influence from the big casino money as in Las Vegas. I’m sure there is a MAGA representative at the State level that can primary Amodi in 2 years. It’s too late for this year.
