In an effort to keep the Daily Open Thread a little more open topic we are going to start a new daily thread for “Presidential Politics”. Please use this thread to post anything relating to the Donald Trump Administration and Presidency.

In attention deficit, low information voter populations like those in a majority throughout the world, what is described in the video below is actually a mechanistic process.
As examples of our own mostly low information voting population, there is a Communist mayor in NYC and 50% of the “Republican” Senators have D and F Liberty Scores with more Fs than Ds, but many have been reelected for multiple terms.
Grok 3 AI:
This is a classic CGP Grey video (from 2011) titled “Why Your Vote Doesn’t Count,” explaining the flaws of First Past the Post (FPTP) voting using an entertaining Animal Kingdom story with lions, leopards, gorillas, etc.’
Core Setup
A queen lioness establishes elections where citizens get one vote, and the candidate with the ‘most votes’ wins (FPTP / winner-take-all). It seems simple and fair at first, but the video demonstrates why it’s problematic through a series of elections.
Main Problems Illustrated
1. ‘Minority Rule’
In the first election with seven candidates (e.g., Leopard 20%, Gorilla 19%, etc.), Leopard wins despite ~80% of voters preferring someone else. A winner can prevail with a small plurality, especially with more candidates.
2. ‘Inevitable Two-Party System (Duverger’s Law in action)’
Over multiple elections, voters strategically abandon smaller/”spoiler” candidates (Turtle, Snake, Owl, Monkey, Tiger) out of fear of wasting their vote or helping their least-favored major candidate win. Smaller parties drop out, consolidating into two dominant parties (Leopard vs. Gorilla). Even if most voters’ *first choices* are elsewhere, the system forces this outcome mathematically.
3. ‘Gerrymandering Vulnerability’
Once districts or voting blocks exist, those in power can redraw lines to concentrate or dilute opponents’ voters, creating “safe seats” and further entrenching the two parties.
4. ‘Spoiler Effect’
A viable third-party candidate (e.g., Tiger) splits votes from a similar major candidate, helping the opposing major party win. This discourages third parties and makes voters feel their true preferences don’t matter.
Conclusion
The queen recognizes these issues and considers better systems (like Alternative Vote / Ranked Choice, covered in a follow-up video). FPTP leads to unrepresentative outcomes, voter disillusionment, negative campaigning, and stagnation—not because voters are lazy, but due to the system’s incentives.
The video is short (~6.5 minutes), witty, and highly rewatchable. It remains relevant for discussions about voting reform in places like the US, UK, Canada, and India that use FPTP. Many viewers call it one of the clearest explanations of why two-party dominance persists.

That finally got to Tucker:

You can not serve to Masters…Winston…it’s either MAGA or not……
Finally? Tucker’s been gone for a couple of years. He just keeps turning it up. He was trying to be coy about it in the beginning… he is now full-blown crazy.
So is the parliamentarian system and ranked choice better? No. The parliamentarian system leads to coalitions with the least popular parties most of the time, giving them an outsized voice. Rank choice leads to the denial of the most popular option, the implementation of the Hegelian dialectic, is even more susceptible to cheat, and though instituted in some states, is illegal in this country, as it violates one person, one vote.
The real problem here is not the two-party system, but the absolute corruption and the lack of adherence to American political theory. Let us return to the original design of the Declaration and Constitution, mitigate the ability of a very small oligarchy to purchase outcomes, and the vast majority of our electoral problems vanish.
KABOOM 💥
In a 6–3 decision authored by Justice Clarence Thomas, the court held that immigration officials do not need to present “clear and convincing evidence” that a lawful permanent resident committed a crime involving moral turpitude before treating the individual as an applicant for admission rather than as an already-admitted resident.
To dumb it down…
Say… a green card holder flies back to the U.S. after a trip. If a Customs officers think he committed a serious crime (like theft or fraud) while abroad.
Before the ruling:
Officials needed strong “clear and convincing” proof of the crime before they could treat him like a new immigrant (making it much harder for him to stay).
After this ruling:
They can now treat him like a new immigrant with much weaker evidence — just reasonable suspicion is often enough.
It makes it much Easier for the government to block or deport him at the border.

Excellent, now let’s hope that they come to the correct decision on Trump vs Barbara.
A simple analogy is often all you need to determine the correct outcome, as in the case of today’s ruling.
You get to say who is able to reside in your home, period; our country is our home. In this specific case, the lawful permanent resident is akin to someone that you’ve allowed to stay in your home, but does not deny you the right to say that it isn’t working out and that they must leave.
In Trump vs Barbara, the intent of those passing the bill is undeniable, as is the definition of the language of “…subject to the jurisdiction thereof.”
FOX NEWS ALERT: The U.S. Supreme Court released 5 opinions today but delivered no decisions on the term’s most high-profile pending cases. Those include challenges to birthright citizenship (Trump v. Barbara), state laws BANNING men (tr*nsgender women) from competing in women’s sports, and the deadline for counting mail-in ballots received after Election Day.
Shannon Bream: “We got 5 opinions, none of them were on our watch list. So we’re coming down to the wire. The term is supposed to end Thursday, that is unlikely given there are still 12 outstanding opinions.”

Old news, but…https://www.cbsnews.com/miami/news/florida-treasure-1715-spanish-shipwreck-gold-silver-coins/
Over the years, a lot of ‘wealth’ has been found in the region…
And all I ever find is a ‘pop top’…and I don’t even step on it…
One dream I had, which I still remember vividly, was being on a beach, finding a cave, digging into the sand and finding endless treasures.
In the dream I knew that any treasure that ended up in the ocean eventually found its way there. It just took time.
Diamonds, gold from the ages, rubies, emeralds, religious artifacts from all cultures.
It was the most amazing dream and probably when I was very strapped for cash, lol.
You need to wear flip flops and then it might happen . . . ouch!
Lol! There’s So much in that little snippet!

OMG, a British tourist arrested for posting gun pics from America! 😱 That’s wild! 📸🔫 Be careful what you share online! 😬
Video linked….
+++
The story he tells is true, however, it seems you are safe as long as you don’t actually possess the gun in Britian….
At least for now (sarcasm intended).
