Disagree: As a native Californian that grew up in the SF Bay Area, my grandparents who lived for 65 years in Oakland, CA never locked their doors to their homes or their cars until the late 1970’s.

The homicide rate was the lowest (per 100k) from 1950 to 1965 when Ted Kennedy started opening the border, importing other cultures which do not value life. I had co-workers in Los Angles who recalled the 50’s and 60’s in Southern California, saying that LA was a jewel, and a wonderful, safe place to live.
1990s in New York City was a war zone, similar to Oakland and SF now. But it is a choice, as our POTUS has shown in DC. A small percentage of people cause most of the problems, and they operate in a relatively small geographic area. Putting up with Anitifa, muggings, murders is a choice that politicians make to gain power and influence. It is a sham, a lie, that there is nothing that can be done.
The answer is simple, like Rudy Giuliani showed in NYC when under his leadership the yearly murder rate dropped from 2800 to 300, saving countless lives. Enforce the law based exclusively on behavior, not anything else. If it affects one group more than another (i.e. disparate impact) there is a reason, it is clearly deserved.

I used to go through security check with the capital police everyday. They were mostly lazy, grumpy dudes working on their second pension.

The reflecting pool vandalism is a symptom of societal decay perpetuated and ignored by career politicians and their associates. President Trump and his administration have done a spectacular job at identifying and implementing effective strategies to combat decades of these failed policies and institutional neglect in record time.
The concrete wasn’t prepared before the installment of the liner and as a result of that the liner will continue to become detached. The contractors did a poor job. It isn’t Trump’s fault but this needs to be corrected.
I should have added the concrete wasn’t prepared properly before installment of the liner, yes moronic people pulled up the loose liner and damaged the liner in other ways. Two different issues, We need to solve both but the concrete and liner are much easier to fix.

Talk to any swimming pool contractors about the liner. Could be that the liner was pulled up with his bare hands although without a blade or other sharp object doesn’t seem feasible. For the liner to be ripped up easily it first needs to be accessible.

2. I am not an expert in the prep process for stone so I didn’t comment on it.
3. While I am familiar with various types of pools including gunite, composite and above ground with a liner (childhood through adult maintainer) I would offer this is NOT a liner but a sealant coating that was applied in several stages. It may fail or it may last we will see.

The water has been tested, and was found to be loaded with Nitrogen Phosphate fertilier.

Guarding our liberty seems to now absolutely require a new special enforcement DC guard—not the capitol police!– over our monuments, the fountains, statues and the reflecting pool. How do we stop it? Follow the money, put up cameras, have drones monitoring the pool 24/7? A dedicated Citizen volunteer corp? A go fund me for the pool? Reward$$$ for information leading to the arrest of vandals?

There is a lot of people who haven’t owned or been around swimming pools. They are maintenance whores.The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pool is 2030’x167′. I had a 30’x15′ above ground pool. it shocked me how quickly algae will grow if you miss a week of maintenance ,don’t go on vacation. I finally got rid of it.
I spend hundreds of hours each summer keeping up the pool and I don’t even use it. Grrrrrrrr

I think we will be surprised how the Reflecting Pool that shines between the Washington and Lincoln monuments will become the battle cry for the Good of American society.
The Good side sees the pool as a positive rebuilding; a cleansing restoration of beauty; a renewal of joy; a reflection of the American spirit as one nation under the One true GOD.
The Bad side sees it as a big bowl of mandated moral filth and hate. They loath anyone who challenges their mockery of a godly society; therefore, their only endeavor is to make it an eye-sore representative of their true nature.
