According to The Gateway Pundit there are five names being debated for permanent DNI {SEE HERE}.
Qualifying any comment by saying this is entirely speculation, a few have asked me for opinion.
Gateway Pundit posits the names: GOP Representative Elise Stefanik, GOP Representative Rick Crawford, current Deputy Director of the CIA Michael Ellis, Vice President JD Vance’s national security adviser Cliff Sims, and former GOP Rep Jason Chaffetz.
Names not mentioned in that article include former HPSCI Chairman Devin Nunes or former Representative now U.S. Attorney for North Carolina Dan Bishop.
Without being fully transparent about how I am reaching my perspective, here’s my take on these names.
I have not seen Michael Ellis in this discussion before. However, he would be a very solid consideration. Ellis is a very straight, non-pretending, deliberate and serious person. With a firm grasp on the problem, Ellis would be a solid option.
Current HPSCI Chairman Rick Crawford would also be a solid consideration. As current HPSCI Chairman Crawford has worked with Tulsi Gabbard, and he does have a very firm grasp on the nuances and issues within the current intelligence community.
Dan Bishop’s name has not been mentioned by many, but he would also be an asset in the role. At least he should be interviewed to see if he thoroughly understands the problem and would be willing to confront it.
Stefanik might want the job and might be the favorite of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, but I’m not sure Stefanik is strong enough to stand up to the pressure within the overall intelligence apparatus. There’s a general pretending that often comes from DC familiarity as well as willingness to go along with norms and status quo. Stefanik is not a disruptor.
It doesn’t seem like Devin Nunes wants the job, for all of the reasons why a tenured IC person wouldn’t want the job. Jason Chaffetz would be worthless, as he was when Chairman of the House Oversight Committee. I don’t know enough about Cliff Simms to give an opinion.
Ranked: Ellis, Crawford, Bishop.
Concerning: Stefanik, Chaffetz.
Best Route: Give strong weight to Tulsi Gabbard’s recommendation.

What do we know about the CIA guy Ellis?
Was he brought in by Ratcliffe?
Before being tapped for Deputy CIA he was Chief Legal Counsel for Rumble.
TY.
Perchance a free thinker
deleted …
Heard/read he’s “ALL-IN” on increased $$$$$ and “support” for Ukraine … so I’d walk-away from him …
No chavetz
I would give strong weight to Director Gabbard’s recommendations as well. She’s seen much from inside and knows what the DNI faces.
Given her work product thus far she should be given veto authority in the room.
I think there’s more to come before she leaves.
Some info has undoubtedly already been referred to DOJ. Other info is being reviewed and may or may not be publicly disclosed soon. Some work in progress will be handed to Pulte to run with.
A big fat NO on Chaffetz.
(I think he likes being on TV too much)
Too much chaff.
🫡
Where did that come from? Whoever suggested Chaffetz needs to be reexamined themselves.
It’s in the GP article:
One person close to the White House even suggested that former Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz ….
That looks like a swamp operation to get Chaffetz’s name out there. Now Congress can sing his praises and claim he’ll get confirmed no problem. Same playbook as when they toss out names for Director FBI.
The only consideration from Utah might be .. Mike Lee for USSC
Amen. it’s like trying to rehab Matt Gaetz reputation when he was driven from Congress because of some personal indescretion.
They never go away, never. Dan Quayle is the only one I can think of that truly said good-bye to politics and ties, at least best I know of.
I am surprised Rooster Head hasn’t popped up.
potatoes or potatos 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In Texas it is taters.
OMG!!!😱
Gowdy’s probably too deep in the foreign lobbying trough to take the pay cut.
Agree.
Chaffetz is a Trey Gowdy clone, but with less of a smirk 🤗
Chaffetz would be a very unfortunate choice. He would sail through confirmation hearings, which tells you everything you need to know.
He is weak, folded like a cheap suit when confronted by proven deep state liars in House hearings, promising to have subpoenas issued for indictments and nothing happened, just like chicken little Trey Gowdy, nothing but a loudmouth rooster with no balls. Got his payoff with his never watched Fox show sometime on the weekend as filler for wasted time slot before Israeli Levin.
Heck NO on Stefanik! I think she was the one who nominated Kevin McCarty for House Speaker SEVERAL times. If so, there’s no possible way I’d support this choice.
She is not for that role.
She’s my rep and guarantee she RINO thru and thru
Stefanik & Radcliffe are said to have been recruited by AIPAC.
Good to see we are getting depth of options in all postitions as the president continues to build solid infrastructure in the murky swamp.
Do not discount Rep. Elise Stefanik from Upstate New York. She, like fellow Republican Lee Zeldin, has been fighting to keep NY in the power structure. Horrible to watch the crazy woman Governor Hochul running things into the ground now. I will always be a fan of Stefanik as when she quizzed the Harvard U. “President” Claudine Gay and the other Ivy League Presidents in the committee hearing that day. Gay was gone by the New Year! Stefanik is an Alumna of Harvard but the University removed her from a committee after that. But she had nailed the problem: Diversity! She’s young and strong, so KEEP HER!
never really liked Stefanik. She’s had her time against President Trump.
Isn’t she the one SD commonly posts on here from the hearing where she exposed the Comey lies?
Yup.
That sure looked like her passing a RINO test fir acceptance.
Task, show Comey we are on to his shenanigans without making it an issue.
She passed with flying colors.
Since then, despite being a team player, she has been cut from the team. So she is available. But I doubt she would continue Gabbards success against the Deep State team.
“Task, show Comey we are on to his shenanigans without making it an issue.
She passed with flying colors.”
I will not deny that accomplishment, but something inside gives me the feeling that she’s somewhere between a team layer and a one hit wonder.
I think Gowdy, who sat next to her, likely fed her the question. She was low key enough to slide it past Comey
I’m my opinion, Rooster (OG) wrote the questions; Stefanik (Newbie) read the words; Comey (Good Question) was caught off guard.
So, she can read a well written script; hoopdie doo.
If Susie Wiles wants her, we certainly do not! I think SUSIE is a RINO control agent.
I get a very dark vibe off her. Trump’s controller.
I get dark vibe from her, JD, and Don Jr.
Yes.
Maybe she could run fro gov or mayor nyc then gov
No politicians, please. They are very reluctant to prosecute the deep state. They view EVERYTHING as political (negotiable).
Exactly so….with few exceptions
Tulsi Gabbard being one of them.
Well, she was targeted by the Deep State and that either makes you compliant or mad enough to fight. She fought.
I’d throw my hat in the ring. Totally apolitical.
Sundance, in the paragraph about Stefanik you referred to someone named “Susie Ellis”, and maybe you meant that old dinosaur Susie Wiles, or maybe she got married to an Ellis? Or maybe something’s happened with the White House staff that I’m not aware of . . .
Agree that Stefanik is not a good choice at all.

Another thing about Stefanik is going back several years she seems like she has a relationship with Dan Goldman wherein they keep secrets or know an inside joke that nobody else is privy to, just an observation made from watching them interact-darty eyes, smirky smiles.
There’s something insincere about her and she tends to tread lightly almost as if she’s afraid to rock the boat or stick her neck out too far.
Dan is just bad company in general.

We all know who he meant. Do you feel better now?
Best to help, when appropriate. These articles are sometimes syndicated to bigger platforms. Mistakes sometimes occur, so best to help the team. No need to be snarky to other Treepers.
We all know who he meant. Do you feel better now?
GTFOML

Fixed…. 😉
Yes Ma’am.

Stefanik is a creature of the NGO IRI, ie, never to be trusted.
She’s weak. Started out strong and has settled in to the typical political mold. Stefanik is a strong 👎 Same for Cheffetz.
NED
There ya go! No need to give her another thought.
She ought to be at home taking care of her family instead of flitting around the swamp.
And I agree that she is not trustworthy.

And the odds for each surviving confirmation hearings?
Especially with lame ducks Cornyn, Tillis, Cassidy…and the usual hard core RINOs who take great pleasure throwing their precious spanners in the works? There are undoubtedly more who would be problematic.
Murkowski, Collins, and McConnell.
(I know…the names presented aren’t written in stone. Still, with a cadre of pouting, seething RINO saboteurs, worth thinking about perhaps.)
No problem. If the hearings drag on and various people eliminated, William Pulte can just keep working…
Hobson’s choice.
It would have very Trumpy if Pulte was appointed for the sole reason that the President knows who he’s appointing, knows the RINOs will hate the nominee, and wanted to light a fire under the Senate.
Just like in 2020 when Ratcliffe was approved to stop Grenell from continuing on as DNI Director. Make the Swamp Creatures squirm!
If I wrote the constitution I’d make primary day your last day to vote on anything if you lost. Same with Nov elections, if you lost you’re no longer voting until replaced. Lame ducks can be treacherous and retaliatory.
Back when it was written, Reps and Senators had to travel hundreds of miles to sit in many cases. My husband and I have often discussed this issue.
I suppose the answer lies with electing “honourable and moral” men and women who care for this nation.
But as we have been shown, they are very few of those.
But unless or until our electoral system is dredged, sanitized, and returned to service?
It’s sickening.
“Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature … If the next centennial does not find us a great nation…it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.” James A. Garfield, “A Century of Congress,” The Atlantic, April 1877.
Since the year 2000, Republicans have held the majority in Congress 14 years, split Congress for 4 years, leaving the Democrats control of Congress 8 years. So if President Garfield is correct, the people we’ve worked to elect have clearly tolerated if not contributed to the corruption and immorality present in public affairs. Why did we elect these failures? We need to take a pause on blaming Democrats and clean our own house first. President Trump has done a great job in identifying much of the rot on the national level in the GOP, but we need to do an even better job at the local level to ensure that government truly is: AMERICA FIRST!
It is often a choice between a RINO or a Dem, and more often these days, a socialist Democrat. We don’t always have good choices.
That’s why I said we need to do a better job at our local level. We cannot continue to tolerate the “lesser of two evils” predicament. It took us a while to get into this mess; it will take us a while to get out of it. It all starts locally. America First adherents must be encouraged to run, supported, and elected to all levels of local, municipal, county, state government.
Most such men want absolutely nothing to do with the cesspool known as DC…
Seems we have a deep pool of psychopath narcissists to snag these posts. I imagine communities prior to five generations back just shunned them, sent them packing, tossed then to the wolves. As social outcasts they probably didn’t procreate therefore limiting their genetic contribution of corrupted conscience.
To your Constitution change, I’d add unless it is a national emergency, or a bill to keep the government funded until the next Congress is seated, absolutely NO bills will be considered or passed after Nov. election day. All legislation, pending or otherwise, must wait for the new Congress to be seated.
“…White House Chief of Staff Susie Ellis…”
Typo?….Susie Wiles.
Stephen Miller
Unlikely to be confirmed but he is sharp and loyal to MAGA principles.
The way the left demonizes Milker as the originator of all Trump policies, and demonize all those policies, it would be smart for them to pigeon hole him into one agency.
But they won’t. It would be fun watching them blow their lids at that appointment.
And they will work hard to keep Miller as the man beating them everywhere they turn.
Well that would certainly send heads exploding. I like it!!
is miller confirmed in the cabinet? if so he can slide over to another position.
Set up a team, And roll each one of the team in and out as temporary.
Let the acting director has his 120 days then perhaps another until the losing rinos are no longer there to make trouble.
210….and more if the Senate refuses to confirm a replacement.
Ask Pete Hegseth, ask CJCS Dan (Raising) Cain for their recommendations from the ranks of the military.
Trump likes to move the chess pieces around and keep everyone off balance. He also likes to give people enough rope to hang themselves, and/or do certain tasks/missions, then move them. So.
As much as I love our President, there have been plenty of times I’ve been disappointed. He always comes around though! He’s never afraid to reverse course or change direction. People say he has a huge ego. Someone with a huge ego won’t correct themselves. I say he has a ton of confidence based on experience.
Allen West.
No.
OK, how ’bout Adam West.
Batman…do do do do do do do… Batman! We could use a Batman in that position! LOL!
Not just no, but Hell No! West has proven that he will put his own political career before anything else.
Dan Bishop is a good guy but we need him in North Carolina . He left the Methodist church in Charlotte when we did over there woke agenda. I do not know how he would perform in the DNI role but I know him not to be afraid of the fight.
Cliff Sims was on the Trump 2020 team. He wrote the book, “Team of Vipers, ” detailing the travails of the campaign and after the inauguration.
Agreed! Chaffetz was a Bad Joke. Please No Mas!!
As someone who lives in New York, in the district adjacent to Stefanik’s, and who has donated to her on multiple occasions, I have to say I am quite disappointed with her, as of late.
Her decision to leave Congress to run for Governor of New York, only to then drop out of the Governor’s race, has left me wondering about her judgement and toughness.
When Stefanik dropped out of the NY governor’s race there was this eerie sense of her being frightened.
Did anyone else pick up on that?
Tulsi’s run into quite a few cut-throats along the way it would seem and has handled herself well. Stefanik couldn’t hold up, she’s simply not suited for that sort of job.
0.o
Children change your risk tolerance.
Might explain Amy Coney Barrett.
Then she shouldn’t have accepted the position. How do you teach your children to stand up for what is right when you run away from the wrong?
Reminiscent of rising star Susan Molinari suddenly leaving Congress after her third term.
Of course that might have been due to her husband, Bill Paxson’s involvement in a failed attempt to oust Gingrich as Speaker.
It’s important to remember that NY Republicans are much different than the mainstream Republicans.
They’re more like the Republican wing of the Democrat party.
Not US Rep. Claudia Tenney and a few others that I’m less familiar with.
Pulte! Pulte! Pulte! Pulte! Pulte! Pulte! Pulte! Pulte! Pulte!
There’s my vote! He comes with a Tulsi stamp!!!
HELL NO on Elise Stefanik!
She’s the primary reason the FCC and other government agencies have banned DJI drones.
They cite security concerns yet have provided NO evidence whatsoever! A recent third-party analysis found no security issues at all. And modern satellite technology can read the date on a dime from space, so there is absolutely nothing a drone can see that China hasn’t already seen!
Not surprisingly, her husband is a big lobbyist for several of the American drone manufacturers, you know the ones that cost anywhere from five to ten times more than DJI equipment but fail to equal their capabilities.
FYI – DJI drones are used by 92% of all businesses, as well as the majority of state/county/city governments and law enforcement agencies.
Everything I’ve stated can be verified through the Vets to Drones organization – vetstodrones.org – the Pilot Institute – pilotinstitute.com – as well as a quick search online.
Elise Stefanik would be as ineffective, or downright damaging as DNI, as Pam Bondi was as Attorney General!
I wish Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo) was on the list. But we need her as the next Senator from Wyoming.
I agree, she is a strong no nonsense MAGA /Trump supporter, and her strength is needed in the beta dominated males in Senate easily influenced by power/money.
And as a Senator Hagman would be in place longer to battle for Maga longer than if she took an appointment that would most likely end with Trump‘s administration.
Good point ^^^
I am a no on Stefanik. People seemed to think she was this great MAGA warrior, but that’s not what her voting record showed. A great deal of the time she voted with the other NY GOP frauds like Lawlor, GarbaRINO, and La Loser. And I agree that she doesn’t have the stuff to stand up to the deep state types.
Right! She asked the right question, but didn’t follow up. And even acted as if she didn’t ask the question. Weak when it matters most.
Chaffetz is likely to run for Governor of Utah (credible rumor)
Not sure we would want him at DNI – but he may make a play for that in order to further his ambitions towards that governorship
Chaffetz would be better than the one Utah has now!
I’ve heard/read that Ellis is a BIG supporter of increased $$$$$ and “support” for Ukraine … that’s a non-starter for me.
And Stefanik as DNI ?? !! ?? Director of National Intelligence … ??? YGTBSM — BIG TIME !!
She’s completely UNQUALIFIED … but she certainly is ambitious and a suck-up. She may even be less qualified for the position of DNI than Bondi was for AG …
Chaffetz… LOL – Like Rooster or Issa weren’t available.
Replying to Sundance’s recommendations:
We need Tulsi to come back. She is proven in this position bc of her integrity for the USA. NO ONE can be as strong as she in this necessary and critical position.
I would love to see
Admiral Michael Rogers.
I would support this and I would also be pleased if Admiral Rogers would select LTGEN Flynn as a special government employee as his close advisor.
The two of these flag officers are good friends, have deep roots in the intelligence community that are still relevant and understand more than just about any other civilian where the rot is and how to remove the cancer and still get the business of doing national security done and provide the President with the best intelligence product.
Both as also solidly grounded with constitutional and legal matters involving surveillance and defense policy. (as well as offensive measures).
for better of for worse, the new DNI is going to face a different kind of mission requirement…the addition of AI and data centers and commercial and private “collectors”…palantir as a key example. How they manage to operate and partner with these technobros will have a very lasting impact on how the intelligence community operates, and how successful it remains when facing the new kinds of threats that go beyond just kinetic and cyber. malinformation threats…political weaponization….domestic terrorism and how to deal with that while still preserving the constitutional limits on how to spy and collect. Both men have demonstrated competencies and are highly regarded leaders in the community of intelligence.
I would support Admiral Rogers. But only as an advisor would I recommend LTGEN Flynn. As much as I do admire his military record, there are some issues that remain unresolved. Professionally, I have no doubts that Admiral Rogers could manage those privately without damage to reputation.
God Bless America
The thing about Adm Rodgers is that he is a “hero” to many for just doing his job, something rare in DC.
However, he was never vocal about any reform or prosecuting abusers of the system.
How about another job for Marco!
Poor guy 😆😆.
I hope and pray that Tulsi’s husband does well enough soon enough that she might be able to return to DNI in the near future and keep doing what she had been doing in that role.
I hope she returns by the next Presidential election.
Just out recently that improved CRISPER technology for cancer is dojng good things.
Isn’t one of the reasons Stefanik said she wasn’t running for re- election after dropping out of the governor’s race “time with her family”? Maybe that was just a standard excuse, but she certainly won’t have that time if she becomes DNI. Her son turns 5 in August, which means he’ll be starting school.
I was never all that ambitious, I guess, but I personally wouldn’t want to be away from my child that much. I know that also sounds sexist, but it’s how I personally felt/feel. I’m a firm believer that no one, man or woman, can have it all.
You might be able to have it all but it might not be very good “stuff” you have. Quality counts.
I agree with you. Except maybe President Trump comes close?
Here is a simple fact: whoever is nominated to replace her needs to be as tough and principled as she is. They also must be prepared to sacrifice their life, as the IC, Five Eyes, and thousands of others that depend on the chaos of war, psyops, and economic upheaval will not stand for their plans to be foiled.
I am from Utah and we definitely don’t want Jason Chaffez in this role. He’ll fold as quickly as wet paper.. Hard pass on him.
You know who would be a great DNI? Jared Kushner. He would actually clean house.
Absolutely not.
Chaffetz has no chance couldn’t pass a basic polygraph by the secret service and also called for Mueller investigation.
Could the “leak” to GP be a psyop to ID more leakers?
How do folks see the upside to keeping Pulte in there for a good long while?
Or is the need too urgent to get someone in there with a wider skill set that can keep pushing on the same collection of fronts that Tulsi was working on?
BETTER GET —> The CORRECT PERSON —> NOW !
What about Ric Grenell? He was great as acting DNI in President Trump’s first term. And if I understand correctly, since he’s already been vetted, he wouldn’t have to go through Thune’s Senate gauntlet of approval. Seems like he could just walk right in an take up where Tulsi left off. I’m surprised his name hasn’t been mentioned.
He was Acting DNI.
I just said that — it was in term one. Does that disqualify him from ever being appointed as permanent DNI in Trump’s second term?
utah news is that chaffetz is running for governor to replace illegal alien-loving cox
Nobody who is a MAGA change agent will be confirmed by the Senate.
Just from the looks of him, Chaffetz is compromised. Something creepy about him.
Bobby Kennedy, Doug Burgum, or Dr Oz.
How are any of these names different than Pulte?
Mike Flynn.
Why Not Flynn? Or Devin Nunes ?
He’s the darling over on TGP.
He has foreign involvement and grifting problems in reality here at CTH.
Tulsi could work from home, and work circle around most of the names floated!
Oh great, Jason Chaffetz . When I see him substituting for Maria Bartiromo on Sunday , I delete the recording.
I wonder sometimes if Trump intentionally puts a name up for consideration like Chaffetz just to appease the RINO club while knowing full well it’s about to piss off the whole MAGA movement.
