Speaking from his Truth Social account, President Trump responds to a judicial order [Read pdf Here] demanding the Kennedy Center be left to fall apart, until congress takes action to restore it.
PRESIDENT TRUMP – “Shockingly, a Judge appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, Christopher Cooper, ruled that The Kennedy Center, which was going to close in early July for largescale renovations and construction due to years of neglect, decay, and poor maintenance, and which was to be transformed by the Trump Administration into the Finest Facility of its kind, anywhere in the World, is not allowed to close for these renovations, which would not be possible to properly do without such a closure. Additionally, Judge Cooper ruled that the 36 Member Board of Trustees, which unanimously voted to add the name “TRUMP” onto the former Kennedy Center, making it The Trump Kennedy Center, did not have the right to do such an addition, and the name, “TRUMP,” must be removed.”

Judge Cooper was given a presentation by leading Building and Construction Experts as to how structurally dangerous the Building is, with rotting beams, parking areas that are subject to collapse, and various other Life and Safety problems, in addition to the fact that it also needs a MAJOR renovation, from an aesthetic standpoint, but he was not “swayed,” and said he wants the Building to, incredibly, remain open and, therefore, dangerous.
Judge Cooper should be ashamed of himself! I cannot be involved with a situation where danger to the Public is allowed to flourish in plain and open sight. Unless I am free to do what I do better than anyone else, bring this Institution back, physically, financially, and artistically, I have no interest in continuing what could only be a hopeless journey into “NEVER NEVER LAND.” There has never been a President of the United States who has been treated so unfairly by the Courts as I but, that’s OK, I will continue to do, what is considered to be, a great job for the wonderful people of our Country. I have instructed the Department of Commerce to make all necessary arrangements with Congress to allow a full and complete transfer of this Institution, giving them the responsibility for its Operation, Maintenance, and Management. Congress will appoint a committee made up of the usual suspects to explore reimagining the Kennedy Center as a Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive community-based venue promoting creative expression by but not limited to underrepresented groups of artists and performers.
The Committee will be funded and oversee its disbursement. Such disbursements may include physical alterations to the existing structure or new construction at the site or another site selected by the Committee.

People will pay to see sports (up til now) but not “arts.” Performing “arts” have a lower success % than exploration and production for oil and gas. And yet the performers want more and better of everything (thank you unions) and viewers expect magic at the cost of a back yard BBQ. But no one ever wants to maintain the buildings.

I have never quite understood why we have a Kennedy Center. That is, it’s fine for it to be there, but taxpayers shouldn’t be involved. I have evolved past the “we need to look sophisticated” phase and landed on the “not on the public dime” phase.
It was part of the memorializing of JFK after his assassination as the nation was still reeling in shock. (LBJ broke ground on it December 1964.) The Kennedys (esp Jackie) were known for bringing world-class talent in the arts for special performances at the White House. So the Kennedy Center was sort of an extension of the White House performances, opening them up to the people, and an ongoing way to pay tribute to the slain president. I’m also not sure if prior to that there was a large Broadway-style venue in DC for plays, awards ceremonies, and grand performances, like there is in NYC with the Met or many grand Broadway theatres, so it could have filled an existing need in DC.
It’s a shame that these fools can’t stand having President Trump use his money, connections, and building/construction expertise to bring new life to DC’s buildings, fountains and monuments. They are just being petty, mean, and spiteful.
However, I do understand some of the irritated feelings in this case. I did feel that since the Center was intended as a living memorial to JFK, rebranding it by adding the Trump name (and in top billing) was a stupid move. What were they thinking? Leave the name as it was, with its original intent, and put a nice gold plaque in the lobby acknowledging Trump’s contributions to it. Repairing it and bringing it to its former glory could have been a nice olive branch to the Kennedy family and JFK’s legacy. (I would be curious to know RFK Jr’s take on it…) Why take something that could have created some goodwill and turn it into a vehicle of divisiveness? We have more than enough of that as it is. I went there in 1994 for a day-trip just to see the Smithsonian and a few other sights. I got off the bus and into the most sinking, despairing vibe I had ever felt. And I’ll add I was hardly an angel in those days. I soon knew I was in deep witchcraft territory.

He didn’t, the Center’s Board of Trustees voted to put PDJT’s name on the building.
Sad, but our President tried.
He has Much More Critical issues demanding his attention.
Would not he surprised if Nothing happens to the Center – except mote wasted $$$ each year.
Hopefully no one attending any future events there gets hurt by the crumbling facility.

Given the condition of the place, the so-called “judge” offering his opinion that the building can remain open during repairs is risible. I know that many of them today view themselves as God-kings, but architects and engineers also?

Some history on the Kennedy Center.
The idea of a national performing arts center started during FDR’s administration. It was tossed around until the 50’s when Ike finally signed off on the project. It languished for years. It was a private / public endeavor.
After JFK was assassinated that spurred everyone into building the Center.
All this happened when the US had a thriving performing arts community. Think of all the great artists that performed there. Today the performing arts is a shadow of what it once was.
