MaineCoon I’ve waited years for SPLC to get payback. They sued my local school system for Million$$ because we had a majority of people of color with discipline problems. It didn’t matter that the majority of Principals issuing discipline referrals were also people of color. Our district had to restructure discipline infractions to “remedy” our supposed “racism.”
If I understand what Acting AG Blanche is saying is that the SPLC was paying people to act as KKK and/or to join real KKK members (if there really are any still) and steer them into racist actions that could be attributed to the KKK? Is that right? If so, then the SPLC was engaged in manufacturing activities to give themselves a mission they could raise donations off of? If that is correct, that is huge, really huge, and the SPLC not only needs to be prosecuted for these alleged fraudulent activities, but the tax-exempt status they enjoy needs to be revoked and ultimately this long-time Democrat Party ally needs to be driven out of business.
The indictment implies the SPLC was paying for manufactured hateful acts that otherwise wouldn’t exist. Serves two purposes, raising donations and more importantly, influencing public policy and bad law making.
Plausible because for a long time there has been much reporting about incidences of people fabricating fake race hate crimes and fake hate crimes against Jews.

I believe AG Blanche qualified that the crime was a not for profit organization taking donations but misdirecting and/or misleading donors as to where the funds are really going.

I think there’s more evidence that the SPLC has always given groups like the KKK a pass while actually trying to destroy legitimate conservative groups by accusing them of being extremists. Those claimed by the SPLC to be paid informants were probably known by that organization to actually be hard core members of the KKK and similar groups who would pass the funds on to their groups.

I thought the press was a bit restrained, suspiciously so. They seemed almost bored, which made me wonder whether this was a show designed to draw our attention away from more urgent matters, like the treasonous conspiracy to topple our Constitutional Republic, for example.
AG Blanche held his own, although the press didn’t really press him too much.
I read it differently. I read their reaction as what I would expect from people who were sitting there the whole time thinking.there are going to be other shoes to drop on this front. If they can indict the SPLC they can indict Soros and a bunch of other leftist organizations for doing what SPLC has done, and more.

Several reasons for their restraint comes to mind. They aren’t very intelligent (obvious by their questions) and can’t grasp laws or the legal process. Many would be supportive of SPLC funding hate crimes. They attack personally.

Today, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced an 11-count federal grand jury indictment against the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama (Montgomery).
The charges are:
6 counts of wire fraud, 4 counts of bank fraud, 1 count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.
According to Blanche, between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC allegedly funneled more than $3 million to individuals tied to extremist and white supremacist groups (including the Ku Klux Klan, United Klans of America, National Socialist Party of America, National Socialist Movement, and Aryan Nations-affiliated groups). The money was reportedly routed through two bank accounts and then loaded onto prepaid cards. Prosecutors claim the SPLC was not truly working to dismantle these groups but instead “manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose” by paying sources to stoke racial hatred, while misleading donors about how their contributions were actually being used.
The SPLC earlier today confirmed it is under a DOJ criminal investigation related to its former paid confidential informant program (which it says has been discontinued) and stated it will “vigorously defend” itself, emphasizing that the work saved lives and helped law enforcement.
The full indictment document is not yet posted on public court databases or the DOJ website as of this writing (it was returned by the grand jury literally minutes before the press conference).
The full indictment and any accompanying DOJ press release are expected to be publicly posted in the next several hours on justice.gov (under the Middle District of Alabama U.S. Attorney’s Office or OPA section) and will also be accessible via PACER at the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama.

Hate to be wet blanket… but…being deeply familiar with Middle District of Alabama and it’s demographics (Montgomery in particular) and having fought against the very corrupt/entrenched good ol’ boy system there (which Morris Dees/SPLC founder – is/was connected), my optimism is tempered somewhat.
