Israel Update
A couple of days ago I said that the income sources of the Iranian armed forces must be attacked in order to seriously win the war. Today there was a major first step by the United States. See below.

“Moments ago, at my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island. Our weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated that the world has ever known but, for reasons of decency, I have chosen NOT to wipe out the oil infrastructure on the island. However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision.
During my first term, and currently, I rebuilt our military into the most lethal, powerful, and effective force, by far, anywhere in the world. Iran has NO ability to defend anything that we want to attack — there is nothing they can do about it!
Iran will NEVER have a nuclear weapon, nor will it have the ability to threaten the United States of America, the Middle East, or, for that matter, the world! Iran’s military, and all others involved with this terrorist regime, would be wise to lay down their arms and save what’s left of their country, which isn’t much!

~Kharg Island – Why It Matters:
Kharg Island is the main oil export terminal of Iran. About 85–90% of Iran’s crude oil exports pass through this small island in the Persian Gulf. Most of Iran’s oil fields send their crude through pipelines to Kharg, where it is stored and loaded onto tankers for export.
A large share of this oil ultimately goes to China. Today China buys over 80% of Iran’s exported crude, and Iranian oil accounts for roughly 13% of China’s oil imports. Because Iran is under sanctions, much of this trade is done through intermediaries, ship-to-ship transfers at sea, and paperwork that hides the origin of the oil.
Oil exports are extremely important for Iran because they bring in hard currency — dollars and euros. Iran needs this money to import machinery, electronics, grain, medicine, and other essential goods. Oil revenue also helps finance the government, including the military, the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), police, and other state institutions.
If Kharg Island were shut down or captured, Iran’s oil exports would fall sharply because most of its export system depends on that single location.
The result would be a major loss of income for the Iranian government and less foreign currency entering the economy. Over time this would make it harder for Iran to finance military operations and sustain a long war.
At the same time, attacking or shutting down Kharg would be a major escalation and could lead Iran to retaliate by targeting shipping or energy infrastructure in the Persian Gulf.
In simple terms, Kharg Island is the main gateway for Iran’s oil money. If it is taken or shut off, a large part of the financial resources that support the Iranian state and its war effort would be severely reduced. About 30–40% of government income comes from oil, and Iran is already in a major economic crisis, so the impact could be devastating.
~The U.S. is mobilizing 2,500 Marines with the assault ship USS Tripoli, a kind of small aircraft carrier that usually sails with one or two additional amphibious ships.
Note: Could Trump take over Kharg Island? Or perhaps secure enriched uranium? At this point we can assume this deployment gives him options if he decides to act.
~There are also more operations in Tehran, with drones striking Basij checkpoints. They are now hiding checkpoints under bridges, but they are being hunted. I saw another video. This is literally war in their streets.
I get the impression that this is Mossad. Today the Mossad X account in Farsi warned people to stay away from Basij personnel. I don’t know how large this operation is, but psychologically it is devastating.
~There was an attack from Hezbollah. Not an easy night. There was a lot of damage in northern Israel, but no serious injuries. Several drones were intercepted.
An Iranian ballistic missile hit an Arab town in the north and injured about 60 people, causing significant damage. Only one person was moderately injured, the others were lightly injured.
There was also additional damage from Iranian missiles in central Israel. One hit my first elementary school from childhood. There were no people there, only property damage. They fired a couple of cluster-warhead missiles, which caused fires and damage but no serious injuries.
~Hezbollah is basically conducting coordinated attacks with the Iranians. The IRGC even announced it.
~Israel is mobilizing Division 98 to the north (Lebanon area), along with the Paratrooper Brigade and another Infantry Brigade. This is in addition to the Divisions that are already there.
The 98th Division is the Commando Division — the “badass” Division of Israel — which was also sent to handle Rafah and Khan Yunis in Gaza, some of the toughest fighters that we have.
It looks like Israel may have decided to conquer parts of South Lebanon and create a buffer zone up to the Litani River, and make it clear to Lebanon that Israel will stay there until Hezbollah is disarmed.
Note that Hezbollah still has some “elite units” there, but Israel has gained a great deal of combat experience over the past two years, and Hezbollah do not have much of a chance.
~The Israeli Defense Minister told Lebanon that if they cannot take care of Hezbollah, Israel will take land and deal with Hezbollah itself. Hezbollah has been rebuilding and rearming under their noses.

I can deal with pictures, but not video. I was not like that until after I fell off a ladder 40 feet off the ground in 1995. Looking over a cliff edge, even when safely behind a wall or fence, churns my internals.

Decades ago when we drove the ace of route through Mexico…something we would not do today for obvious reasons….we had to negotiate very narrow roads high in the mountains s. Round and round we went, Hopi g we wouldn’t meet someone coming the other way. Beautiful are very which I saw none of because as I looked outside all I could see was straight down into the depths,and so sank to the floor of the car where I stayed until we eventually we were lower.
Also climbed one of the steep, shallow staired pyramids just outside of Mexico city. Made it to within four steps of the top and couldn’t make myself go any further…
My legs at this moment are feeling decidedly weak just remembering.

You would have no idea unless I told you the rest of the story.
I had just finished attending a weekend bible conference. I was replacing a photocell controlled yard light. I had a longer ladder this time, tied down off the roof of a 20’x12′ storage shed. Got too close to the two 4800 volt primary lines near the top of the pole. The electricity arced through the air to a grounded metal case drill I was holding.
I was powerless to let go or do anything, I just prayed, “LORD, is it time for me to be with you yet?”
Then everything went black. I opened my eyes to find myself laying on my back in the garden, looking up from where I had fallen from. I moved my head from side to side laying on the ground. The neck seemed all right, so I propped myself up on my elbows. Instead of my feet pointing straight up, both of them were lying on ground pointed back at my head. I was wearing long pants, but could see a white bone with red spots sticking out from my right pant leg. When I hit the angled roof, I landed on a rafter – so I was impaled into the roof. However, the impact ripped off my feet and they were hanging on by only the skin and muscles on one side. (Severe Grade 3 open fractures bilaterally involving the tibial plafond)
No one was home and I did not think that dragging myself up 100 feet or so to the front of the house was a good idea. The rest of the family had gone to my grandmother’s house for pizza. My brother went to pick up our nephew after he finished work nearby. Instead of going there, he swung by home, even though he did not forget anything. That is when he found me.
Instead of a 30 minute ambulance ride, the paramedics took me to a nearby parking lot and I was airlifted to the county hospital with a level 1 trauma unit. I was in a wheelchair for 3.5 months and on crutches for two, while undergoing PT to learn how to walk again. I did not require a liver or kidney transplant due to high voltage damage.
Fast forward to today and I am still doing the Lord’s work.

I was married once to an orthopaedic surgeon, so I know how horrible your injuries were, especially with the non weight bearing tibia. Those are notorious for not healing properly.

When my parents were away and I was watering their garden, I stepped away to check their mail and when I came back there was one helping himself to a drink. Walked backwards and let him drink. He just looked at me and kept drinking, then meandered off like he owned the place!
Driving back from town, on a 500 ft climb, one jumped out of the forest onto the roof of a Jeep in front of me, bounced and kept going to the other side of the road! Slowed down and moved to the shoulder to grasp what I had just seen. We also heard them a lot at night. When my son was visiting and we were out on the porch with my Shih Tzus, we heard one and my son said we probably should go in or the dogs might become the lions appetizers. LOL

I was stalked by one when camping in Northern Arizona. I was up late having a read by the dwindling fire. I was crouched low and bent over to catch the light on the pages. At that time my normal weight was under 100 lbs so that mountain lion surely considered me an easy morsel. A twig snapped – I looked up and saw the lion just outside the light perimeter ready to pounce holding the same position as any house cat. I jumped up and very actively pretended that I had a black belt punching everywhere with the accompanying keeyups! The lion got a sour grapes look on his or her face and the neighbors screamed at me to STFU as the lion slunk away. I have NEVER gone camping since! I’ll stay in a cabin but under the stars – NOPE!
I thought that my imagination made the mountain lion appear bigger than it really was until I went to the desert museum outside Tucson. They’re HUGE!
Oh MY!!! Quick thinking, Koo!! They are huge. And in the dark? “Huger” I’m sure.

Made the mistake once of trying to photograph mom and cubs up on the mountain behind us. Woo Hoo – I could have won the 50 yard dash back to the truck!
I’m thinkin’ she wanted more than royalties!
Had one living in a wash that runs through our property. She scared our sweet mule, Maude who got tangled in barbed wire. Took us several months to nurse her back to health. They are so beautiful – but, seriously dangerous.
I can only imagine, Pat. To see such as these in their natural habitat.

Ain’t that the truth. Gabby likes ham, chicken, and Turkey but turns he nose up at Tuna and other fish even though her food and treats say they have fish flavor and she likes those just fine.
When we feed the dogs in the morning I put treats up on the widow seal where she can sit on her cat tower and get them without being bothered by the dogs. She sure lets me know if she doesn’t get her Friskies White fish, with flavors of shrimp, crab, & Tuna treats even if she won’t touch the real thing.
Ha!! Cats aren’t shy about letting us know their food preferences. So glad you’ve given her a “throne” where she can lounge, eat her treats, and rule from, rah 😂

They are in All Saints’ Church in Tudley, England, which is uniquely known as the only church in the world to have all 12 windows designed by Marc Chagall.
They were commissioned in memory of Sarah d’Avigdor-Goldsmid who drowned at the age of 21.
She must have been a tremendous lover of cats.

Well, in all honesty, I don’t give a hoot about being a bit old fashioned when it comes to music choices. These Carly Simon performances are simply totally enjoyable. She’s obviously enjoying herself . . . and the setting and staging couldn’t be more perfect. Alas, I could never dance that well so usually I ended up just watching. Tonight, I realized I hadn’t watched these videos in awhile. Which, of course, is why I put ’em up. 🙂
Little ‘Tink’s been quiet of late. She has a favorite hiding spot that she used to frequent when she was a feral kitty. It’s a comfort spot for her in the kitchen. I was petting her a little while ago and she responded with her I-really-like-this kitty purr. I like it when she does that.
Still thinking about getting a dog . . . My worry is what I’d do if they didn’t get along. In all of our years with accepting foundling dog into our house that has never happened. Our kitties just treated our new dog like a funny looking cat. Be well, dear Bet. Love you darlin’ . . . 🙂

Garrison, you could maybe foster a dog? My advice to all of us folks of classic age is don’t get too small of a dog as they can trip you. And an older dog might be more mellow. Also, more in need of a home.

This is why I never took to music videos which provided visuals for me. As for dancing, I was never any good, though to this day I’m a dab hand at toe or finger tapping when a tune leads me.
I knew what your concern is with adopting. It would be mine, too. Your and Tink’s relationship is so perfect; but as you say, she has been around dogs and been just fine. And I know exactly what you mean about that purr. With a cat there is nothing more satisfying than to hear that motor start up. She’s content. And I’m pretty sure that sound I hear is Tink in her element, letting you know she is.

Same here – never had dissension among the troops! I think some breeds or mixes may be more compatible. Labs are always a good bet.
Most shelters encourage you to do a “meet and greet” at their facility, but, I know in my case, I would never bring a kitty into a shelter with barking dogs and yowling kitties!
Also, shelters usually “test” dogs with some of their feline residents, so they can report on their compatibility.
My folks took in several oldster cats and dogs in their later years, with the understanding that they would live with us when they were no longer able to care for them. We did indeed do that and it was our honor. I bet you have someone who could give you that peace of mind. Though we are old ginks ourselves, we could be your back-up. ❤️

I’m just like you these days with sleep, or the lack of it. Only without cats. We are granddog sitting this weekend for our daughter who is being worked to the bone…7am to way beyond 7 pm. And so I am concerned for her. Doesn’t help when I try to close my brain and my heart out for the night. She and her husband are taking a much needed weekend away. I’m so glad we are hear enough to be able to do this for her. When she moves at the end of the year, we won’t be an option…and that makes me sad, because Maggie is just the sweetest.
If I took a nap, I’d have the same problem, and so I don’t. Fortunately Sundance has mucho threads to comment t and answer on today…😘

Good morning all.
My recovery is going well. I have 23 staples. Sherry counted them yesterday when we changed my dressing. I’m done with the hydrocodone and am now taking extra strength Tylenol. Unless I cough I have no pain along the incision line but I still have some in other places in my abdomen. I started taking my blood thinner again for the first time since the surgery.
Yesterday I went out with Sherry to feed the birds and am spending more and more time out of bed.
Mild laxative and about a 1/2 bag of grapes got things down there moving the way they should and I am now regular and eating whatever I want.
My son will be over tomorrow and we’ll go to Menards to get bird seed. He’ll do the lifting. I just need to show him what to get but at least I will be out and about.
Can’t complain at all. Will be going to my follow up appointment with the surgeon on the 18th. Don’t know if he’ll take the staples out then or not. Suspect he will. But I will continue to use the elastic belly band they gave me for some time to come.

By the way, we buy a lot of organic frozen mango chunks. They are good for the eyes, have a lot of nutrition, and are one of the best foods to keep folks regular,. On top of that, each unsweetened, frozen chunk tastes like a healthy popsicle!

In the Canal Zone, early 1970’s, we used to pick them up off the ground–at the stables of all places, and eat them, had a choice, lightly green or well ripened….there was some thing about that fresh, fallen off the tree flavor…we did not rinse them, either…hey I was 12 or so…the invincible days…

Joe Bastardi says this is a classic set up for a severe weather outbreak and expects it will be stronger than what NOAA is predicting now, which is bad enough already.
In case you didn’t know. The states of the deep south along the Mississippi river have the highest casualty rates from tornadoes. Places like Alabama and Mississippi don’t have the wide opens spaces like Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, so people are less likely to see them coming. Also, for some reason it seems the worst outbreaks in the deep south tend to come after sunset.

What flabbergasts me is that the storm phenomenon is predicted to center on and align with a stretch of two rivers. Centering has to happen periodically. After all, storm predictions must center over something. But aligning with is freaky.
It’s just a function of where the maximum convection is expected to be, where the wet and warmest are expected to collide with the coldest air collides and has nothing to do with the rivers, as least as far as meteorologists know. Another key factor as to why the probabilities vary is wind shear. The direction and strength of the wind aloft verses the direction and strength of winds at the surface. You can get powerful thunderstorms with strong convection that brings strong straight line winds and even big hail but if you don’t have adequate wind shear it’s unlikely to produce tornadoes.
Typically the strong tornadoes and outbreaks result from supercell storms. Supercells are strong enough to last longer and go through several regenerative cycles. This is why you see a storm produce a tornado and then the tornado lifts and then later as it moves along it produces another. It was the same supercell that produced the three most damaging tornadoes, during the outbreak up here. First at Kankakee, IL and then it regenerated twice as it moved ENE producing two tornadoes in Indiana.

I will keep an eye on my local meteorologist for updates. I also have a weather radio that is on because of the area I live in. It will make a really, loud, obnoxious squeal when there is bad storms and/or tornadoes possible in and around my area.

Rah, Along the Red River, the portion of the river that dips down the farthest into Texas is about 5 miles from me. So it is always hit or miss for me with the tornado possibilities. Usually the tornado will be just a few miles north of me or a few miles south of me. A few years ago we had some really bad wind and it broke the hydraulics on my iron gate, when it was closed. Just bent the arm in half when it was pushed open. It would have been very costly (Over $1,000 to replace it) so with my current limited income, I could not really fix it. So, I unplugged and took out the battery, and unhooked the solar wiring also.

Something about the M-16/A-4 many don’t understand.
I often see the leftists making fantastic claims about how powerful the 5.56 x 45 mm round that rifle uses. The fact is that it is not as lethal as the standard hunting rounds normally used for human sized or larger game.
The high velocity 5.56 round is in fact optimized for causing severe wounds, not killing.
The logic behind this is rock solid.
Wounded troops are a far greater burden on an enemy force and it’s resources than the dead are. From the time of wounding it will require the attention of at least one man on the battlefield to take care of his wounded comrade. Then it will take the attention of one or more medics and one to four men to move the wounded person from the battlefield. And that is just the beginning of what is a long logistical nightmare.
Wounded troops not only require medical supplies and a whole medical infrastructure and numbers of people for their care, they also have to be fed.
Disfigured, crippled wounded have a far greater psychological impact on soldiers from the communication zone all the way back home to the civilians where the burden of their care and feeding is usually eventually transferred to their family/loved ones.
Thus the severely wounded are much more expensive and time consuming to deal with than the dead and they strike right at the productivity of the civilian work force.
Tell that to the guy trying to shoot back in the jungle where AK-47 bullets tear through everything, but his M16 bullets don’t.
On the other hand, those bullets don’t just bounce around in the jungle, they bounce around inside people too. So the severe wounds part is accurate.
It’s all accurate.
The lack of penetration is a cost of a lighter firearm and round.

rah, when we first moved to this property 30+ years ago, a very large Grey Rat snake was in residence. He hung out around a dripping outside faucet. He kept my small dog and my 2 cats totally intimidated. He finally moved away when a large King snake arrived. King snakes are cannibals and other snakes will flee from them. This King snake would follow me around the yard while I watered the new plantings. I had to be careful not to step on him.
We used to have many species of snakes here, but in the last few years their numbers seem to be dwindling.
Truli, when I lived in Arizona, in the desert, we had a big King snake hang around in the front of our place. It was good at keeping other, poisonous snakes away. We had a small fountain and it hung around there most of the time on the rocks where it was cooler and shadier, especially during the hot summers. It never bothered me and I enjoyed watching it. I confirmed with some experts that it was not a poisonous species.
I like the yellow wasps because they protect me from the killer bees 😁

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock.
