Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Not for long.
President Trump has a plan for the anti-American, treacherous EU elites and he is stickin’ to it.
Be on the lookout for the REPURPOSING OF NATO.
The USA isn’t going to get out of “2026” NATO.
Instead, with the aim towards securing the eastern flank of the USA. … President Trump will use his MAGA skills to turn the resources of the multi-country NATO defense force from mainly concentrating on Russia, to concentrating on the European’s new enemy within their walls, …….. the dangerous, non-nationals who have been allowed to invade their countries by the EU.
America’s expelling of the illegals out of its own borders will be an example of what needs to be done in Europe to expel all of the dangerous, non-nationals out of their countries.
NATO (funded mainly by the Europeans) will be “repurposed” from defending against Russia to deporting the hordes of dangerous non-nationals who have been let into Europe’s borders, much like biden’s treacherous open borders let in 26,000,00 non-nationals into the USA.
The demand for expulsion, following the example of President Trump’s mass deportation of America’s invaders, will come from the citizens of each country through NATO, not from their leaders.
Along with using NATO to deport the non-nationals, the citizens will vote out the crop of globalist / communist leaders who got them into the EU mess in the first place, aka America’s 11/5/24 election.
TOTAL EXIT, coming as the dangerous hordes are driven out of each European country (including Ireland) and the remaining nationalist citizens vote in MEGA politicians, Make-Europe-Great-Again politicians.
BREXIT was just a trial run.
EU, destined for the ash pile of socialist / communist failures, on President Trump’s watch.
MAGA / America First is not just our motto, it is our duty!
Thank you Cactus.
What can I say from this side of the pond?
Wishful thinking I am afraid.
There is about zero chance of a Trump emerging in Europe to do the necessary stable cleaning.
I wsh it were not so.
So sorry, Patrick. I have lately been feeling similarly about my country’s ability to fend off the forces of evil. Very sobering, and I fear my 2 1/2 great grandchildren will not experience the blessings of the USA.
All the best
Gloriously old! And wishing it were still like that🙄
yadent
Too bad the page you need has been torn out and you need a shower after touching the book!
How old do you have to be to even find any phone book in a phone booth? Torn pages or needing showers?
Really old- and I qualify!
I love the study that was done with young people. They were asked to make a call with an old rotary dial phone. Most had no idea how to use it.
As a kid, we had a dedicated piece of furniture with a phone, yellow pages, and a party line! (Not as fun as the name would suggest.)
Ditto…loved the party line. My mother hated it🤣
You can always improvise!
a smart-phone charging cable makes a pretty good garotte
yadent is on a roll!
Good afternoon Soaz. We had the same arrangement, except we did not have a party line.
Have a most blessed and wonderful weekend.
Over 45, for sure, since cellular phones weren’t in widespread / common use until the middle/latter 1990’s at the earliest. But that varies by region and whether one lived in a more rural or more urban area…
Hallmark has reruns. Lots of fun to watch.
Good CATURDAY Garrison and the best little kitty on the planet, Tink 😘😽
I think there’s an old song that has “It’s one o’clock in the morning…” In its lyrics, but worst luck, I can’t remember which. And which it is here now. Plenty of toe beans and murder mittens to let loose…here we go! 😺
Most likely…☕ ☕ ☕ ☕ ☕ ad infinitum
Soon…
watchin’ birdies, probably
Look at him! Watchin’ something absolutely! 😼
That your patio gorgeous patio Betsy?
Made another appeal to SPCA yesterday about these dumped cats and hopefully they are going to help. I told them I will make a sizable donation and keep the calico if they will spay her and take Mama and Kitten. Mama is about to explode with kittens and I have to keep her and them until they’re weaned. Of course, Mama will be pregnant again by then.
Nothing is settled, yet but my fingers are crossed.
Alas no…but it is so like the back of our Welsh home that the memories came flooding back. Everything you see here, including the cat, we had. It was a work of love made beautiful over the twenty years we lived there.
The name of our house was “Plas y Glyn”… ” Manor on the Valley”. Built in 1869 it was and known throughout that part of Wales where we lived. Americans might look at it and think “Manor in the Valley?? I don’t think so…”
But it was for us; and as my mother always taught me to try to leave a place better than you found it, with each improvement we made, we kept this in mind. It was in every respect my “dream home”, especially the garden which covered about a quarter of an acre. We left no part of it untouched. It was a place of retreat for us, a place of solace…
Can’t tell you how much we reflect upon it or how much we miss it.
Add a few more cats, our beloved dog Penny, hedgehogs, harvest mice, lovely little birds, a pond full of fish and frogs, squirrels, and a peacock…and you’re looking at what once was ours. And yes…left much better than it was when we moved in.
Betsy, I can just see it! I would have loved to have been your neighbor and helping in the garden. Then, we could have a cuppa and pet the pets!
All were welcome, sis…we had a stone bench by the small pond which was flanked by two apple tress which produced no apples halfway up the garden. That was our resting and cogitating place. Elevated just enough so we could see our neighbour’s flocks and the new lambs every spring.
More than one cuppa I think 😉💕
Heaven on earth, Bets
My sister in law’s small holding is set well back off a narrow winding lane, and it has a fast flowing stream running beside it. She was always concerned with her horses and carriages, and so it was maintained but never cultivated.
But it had a wild charm all its own. When we took tea and sandwiches outside on a scruffy table with mismatched chairs in the summer at at her place, conversation flowing faster than that stream, we discussed…..and sorted out…the world.
And while for once I wasn’t adding to it, I would sit there listening to everyone else, look around, take in the lovely quiet setting and my companions, and say to myself, “Mark this well…this is heaven on earth, a moment which, as moments do, will pass.”
I knew this, and so deliberately stored sights and sounds for the day when they were long past.
Halcyon is the word for those days. I was and remain grateful for each and every one 💕
❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Bets, I’m picturing it on my mind’s eye. For a variety of reasons, this has been a particularly harsh week. Your description is so calming. Thank you.
I am so sorry for your harsh week, dear sis. Having them myself makes me more empathetic and sympathetic than you can imagine. Yes, it is my go to place all right when I need one, which these days seems to be more often. Not for myself as much as for others for whom life is dealing some very hard times.
Reading the prayer thread alerts us to how many just within the branches of our beloved Tree.
Wish I could transport you…
Please be well… you, Lloyd, your family, and all of God’s creatures who have found loving sanctuary with you 💕
The love for the Welsh home come out clearly…never lose it!
Tucked deep in my heart 😌💕
My dad felt the same about Christchurch…
Oh Betsy, it sounds wonderful! It would have been a place I could really enjoy as you did. Some people do not have a clue s to how to really enjoy the comforts of a well-loved home and gardens.
After 6 years here, I am still trying to make my garden enjoyable. It is just taking me longer, as I am not as spry as I once was, but determined I am to get it manageable and the way I envision it.
By the way, this month last year is when Cleo showed up, not yet pregnant. She seemed still a kitten herself when she showed up in the coop.
Time’s a’flyin!!! A whole year? NOT POSSIBLE!!
Good luck with your garden, Pat. I am trying to do the same, but without much luck. Had grand plans when we moved back to Texas, but it has been hard. And I have to accept the heat and too dry periods which limit what I can plant. I wanted hostas, but…
I’ve gotten to the point where if I can keep it tidy and stay on top of the infernal weeds which thrive no matter how hot or dry it gets, I will have to sigh, accept it, and remember what was.
Oh Truli!!! Please God they will take this sweet mom and her littles🙏🏻 Your heart is so big, sis. More than my fingers are crossed. What good is the SPCA if they can’t help? Perhaps once the babies are here you can find loving homes for them. I know it is a tremendous worry for you. We’ve been there, and so has Pat…the penalty for lovi g animals as we all here do. Crossing every digit I have right now 💕
Dear Truli
I know how distressing this is and kudos to you for the job you have taken on.
There is light at the end of the tunnel if you are able to get them neutered.
We still have several ferals here, but no influx of new kittens, since TNRing the first very large “batch.”
I sure wish I could help you with this. Blessings ❤️
You are helping with your kind words.
I thank you.
Truli, last year this time, a little stray showed up here. She then became pregnant and in mid-May last year had 7 kittens. Hid them from me for two weeks. When their eyes opened, she brought them out, and I got them and momma and brought them in the house. There used to be a national web site you could go to that would show you where there are inexpensive spay/neuter programs for feral cats in your area. I’ll try to find the information and give it to you.
Is this momma too feral to catch and bring in the house to have her kittens? If she is in the house, she can’t go “searching for romance” once the kittens are weaned. That is what I was able to do with my feral momma. I got her spayed and she has finally become less feral as the months go by.
I truly feel your frustration and worry and so wish I could help you in some way. You have a big heart like a lot of others here on the CTH for the strays, and the forgotten.
I understand your concern. I’ve been rescuing strays my entire life, cats, dogs, even farm animals, when I had the property for them.
You are so kind to God’s creatures, I am sure He sees and will somehow provide a remedy. I shall pray for you that you are shown a way to get through this and you are provided a solution.
Thank you for the offer of help Patt but I’ve been everywhere. I’ve been in rescue. This is my third plea to SPCA and I’m hoping we’ve negotiated a deal. We’ll see. The dogs I have now except for the 17yr old won’t tolerate the cats even inside the fence. The feeling is mutual.
Thank you and everyone for your concern. It helps a lot.
Just pray my plea finally reaches the cat angel at spca.
Done, girl…
🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻
Good evening Truli. Here are some organizations I’ve found:
feralcatcaretakers’.org – Feral Caretaker’s Coalition
Go on their website as they have different options to click on to get information.
Feral Cat Program of Georgia
email: [email protected]
Their address is in Alpharetta, Ga.
alleycat.org
[email protected]
All these organizations have the TNR program (trap-neuter-return), they return them to outside where they were caught after being fixed.
It looks like they can give you information on how to trap and where the inexpensive neutering programs are in your area.
Hope this gives you some much needed assistance. Let me know.
Good afternoon Betsy. Beautiful garden and cat. Can not wait for Spring and the flowers start blooming.
I am late today as I needed to clean out Blue’s water trough. Catch him and try to clean his hoofs. They got really muddy when we had that heavy rain. He was stubborn today and I could not get him to lift his feet so I could clean his hooves and check to make sure they weren’t nasty. Cleaned what I could on the tops. I just do not have the strength I used to have to get those feet up off the ground!
The professors son said he would come over and do it for me and also offered his help with anything else I might need done. He knows my son is not home as much as before, and can’t get things done for me here that I do not think I should do any longer.
Cats are all napping currently and I am taking advantage and eating late lunch without eyes watching and trying to eat my food and/or play with it!
You have provided wonderful images today of cats. Thank you.
Have a most blessed and wonderful weekend.
We have finally arrived at that age as well, Pat. Knowing what we were capable of and finding it harder. But scraping hooves? And trying to stay upright? How kind of your professor’s son to offer to help. Bless him…
So a peaceful lunch, eh? What a luxury!!
Our crepes have been pollarded, and one of our two red buds are about to pop. Thank goodness the icy temps don’t seem to have done the damage of four years ago when we lost quote a few plants. We always thought…were told…that the harsher the winter the more glorious the spring with its blossoms. I shall look forward to that. Not long now.
I hope your strenuous day won’t leave you aching tomorrow, dear sis. May the rest of your weekend be heavy chore free 😘
Good evening Betsy. I looked at my Clematis vines and they have tiny leaves beginning. My roses also have tiny leaves. Hopefully this little cold spell tonight and tomorrow will not damage them.
Normally cleaning the trough doesn’t bother me as it is something I do frequently and the body is used to that particular exercise. I did manage to clean the mud off the tops of Blue’s hoofs. Levi will have to pick the underside.
I’ll be cleaning up my large planter boxes, I have (3). Get some good soil and compost for them, before I plant my flowers and herbs. They are high on six legs, so they are easy to fill and clean up and plant in.
I’ve got several old, 150 gallon water troughs from the ranch that I plant every year with vegetable plants. I have raised them up on cement blocks so they are also easy to maintain. I’ve got to put compost and more soil in those as well, then plant after the danger of frost.
I’ve got my work cut out for me, come Spring, but I enjoy it and just do what I can every day rather than try to do it all at once.
No more chores, but the normal feeding of Blue the rest of the weekend. You and yours have a most blessed evening and Sunday.
Beautiful roses on the lattice.
We had those…and climbing hydrangea. Small leafed with a tiny white flower. Died back in the winter and came right back in the spring. Fast grower. Lucious.
Throughout MANY years spent “in the garden”, I’ve become rather familiar with what is available in the marketplace.
This one has got me stumped: lower left quadrant, tall light green (Avataresque) mammoth petunia shaped foliage. How very interesting.
Metaphysically, and as a matter of principle …
I refuse to envy this cat.
Can’t help, my friend. But isn’t it stunning?
I’m partial to hostas of which we had many, perfect for our climate. Not so here in sunny and hot, hot Texas. Even in the shade.
I’m trying not to envy the cat…failing 😉💕
The plant you are referring to is:
Sacred Lotus (Nelumbo mucifera and cvs.)
Hardiness zone 4 to 11
Grows up to 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide
Requires full sun, wet soil and standing water.
Success can be accomplished by burying the potted plant in a pot without a hole so it will hold water or plant in a lotus tub
Hope this helps you.
Well, Patthenavybrat!
I’m tickled to have come back and found your reply.
While I’m not surprised in the least at the height of this plant, I AM surprised by the hardiness zone – and “delighted”.
(A welcomed bit of the tropics, for my neck of the woods.)
Thank you very much! 😊
You are so very welcome RCR. I am so happy I could delight you with this information. I too am surprised by the hardiness zones myself. I will be trying to grow some myself this year. My hardiness zone is 7, so If I can locate some, I will be trying to grow them.
I have gardened since I was a little girl with my Granny and my Dad when he wasn’t on a tour of duty in the Navy and have gardened just about every year since. I will be 76 this year, so been at it for quite some time.
Hope you come back and see this latest comment. Enjoy bringing a little of the tropics into your neck of the woods.
Have a great evening and a great week.
LOL Betsy.
Clever or what????
Here is one for you:
When I have crossed over…at least the Treehouse will remember my ability to find unique videos!
Nigel with his brother, Winston.
Serene, Corny…love this 😌💕
So precious. The cats do that here as well now.
Hahahahahahahahahahaaa!!!
Oh the whole posture and paws position, will actually make you believe that is just what this cat is thinking!
That’s his story, and he’s sticking to it 😼😁
Whoa, Now that cat has been fed well!
Oh Betsy, this one made me produce a very long and loud laugh!
When there is no box…any port in a storm.
True , so true!
I get it.
love the composition … here’s a companion piece
An all time favourite for me, nim. As we can plainly see, his ancestors passed this way long ago 😻☕👍🏻
Bets, I’m so “linear” architecturely and a cat person.
This is puuurr-fect!
Art, dear bird…that’s the way I see it. The composition is wonderful! 💕
Tell us something we don’t know…😼
Would they even read it?
Or just not acknowledge that you sent a text?
I think they’d delete it, Jim.
Without reading it 😂👍🏻
Mama?? 💕
(…or “What fresh hell is this” ?!!?!?)
I’ve even seen mother hens with kittens beneath her, girl. Nature is a wonderful and inexplicable mystery 💕
We think we understand it, arrogant as man is.
But we do not…I love this!
Yes, Cleo was discovered in my coop and she stayed there for a while until she realized I was going to be feeding her several times a day. The chickens would try to eat her food, so she decided she needed to eat elsewhere.
She kept trying to rub on the chickens like she would your leg and they wanted nothing to do with her!
I felt so sorry for her as she just wanted to be friends with them. She was too feral to get near me to rub. I would have let her but she was fearful. I am sure she was mistreated by humans, GRRRRR!
Patt, maybe she just never knew humans.
We are a spooky lot.
She’s much etter off inside, bless her. You were meant to have her. I know you know this 😌💕
And yes, GRRRRRRR…and much else besides 😡
love, love, love that one
the missing chair spokes
Double take time, nim. As many times as I’ve seen this one, it always takes me a second 👍🏻
Fooled me! 😃 😀 😄
OMG!! Woe betide anyone who grabs him in hurry thinking he is 😂
Forgive me, but I started laughing thinking just that thought. Definitely would have some “battle scars” I imagine from the murder mittens.
👍🏻 😁
That is so great. It really does look like the chair is busted.
You summoned me, Master?
I think you’ve got the roles backwards, Truli 😁😎
Just wishful thinking, Bets.
But I find this image facinating.
I think the cat would then say: You may grant me me 3 wishes.
Treats, toys, and full body massages.
This may be the cleverest photo of a cat I’ve ever seen.
Some people just have vision…
What a great image! Instead of a genie we get a kitty!
And a bonus 😻
Every mother on earth at one time or another…even cats 💕
https://m.youtube.com/shorts/ntwTM31NguE
Awwww, the love of a mother! Thanks for the video. I remember Cleo trying to escape the kittens for some much needed rest, until they figured out how to climb the child gate and followed her. LOL Ahhhh, the memories Can not believe it’s been 9 months since the kittens were born.
I can’t either!!! I’m telling you, sis, time is scuttling by when I’m not looking 😬
Oh yes and I will take two please.
Tiger, tiger, burning bright …
I remembered it as well, dear nim 💕
“Tyger, tyger, burning bright
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies,
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And, when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? What the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears
And water’d heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the Lamb make thee?
Tyger, tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
~William Blake
thanks, Betsy
all I was going to be able to come up with is
“someone said that”
I darn near added it when I posted him, but it was about 2 am and I didn’t have the energy.
So I thank YOU, dear sir for adding the opening lines, so that now coffeed up, I could 😘👍🏻
Oh thank you Betsy as I could not recall all the verses.
It has a very mystical, other worldly tenor to it I’ve always thought. As intended.
Beautiful!
Hey, dear Bet. Little ‘Tink sends you a good late night/early morning purr. I’ve stayed up watching ‘Footloose’ videos. Talk about bringing back old memories . . . Kenny Loggins’ genius was at work with this song . . . He captured a generation’s collective consciousness in his music. Good on him.
It was fun to hear and watch (loved the movie!) but it was also great that the song made him a wealthy man.
(I just put up a good video from the movie.)
I came into the house from my study few minutes ago and was met at the door by Little ‘Tink. She hopped in my lap and expected a neck rub and some midnight munchies (can’t refuse here when she does this . . . I’m very well trained now). Such a dear little kitty. Here it is early morning and she stayed up waiting for me to come in . . . Good kitty!
Oh, yeah. I finally got my truck back from the body shop. Thanks to SF’s claims foot dragging it’s been over 2 months. Despite the delays, they did a very good job. My going-on 3 year old truck feels brand new . . . 🙂
Be well, love. 🙂
Hey there, dear friend!! 💕 How could you refuse her anything? She really is a tiny blessing from heaven. Surely Divinely sent 😽
Said often, but it’s true…they don’t write them like that anymore. I agree! Now I’ll be humming it in my head as I drift back to bed 😂👍🏻 Please pass on a loving scritch-scratch and a cuddle from me to sweet Tink. I think she can never have enough…sleep well both. See you in the morning light 😘☕
As always, dear Bet, its good to see your kind words. Just got back from an enjoyable lunch with two dear friends at a favorite taqueria—truly great food.
They’d kindly loaned me their older “spare” Toyota . . . for going on 2 months! Although definitely older, like most Toyotas, it ran perfectly and served me well as I’d discovered to my chagrin that my policy didn’t include car rental coverage.
Little ‘Tink continues to be her darlin’ little self. I’m completely charmed by how she’s become even more overtly affectionate. It’s like she’s making up for lost time from when she was in here feral phase. For an old guy, living alone, having such an affectionate little kitty around means a lot.
Re: my truck. Although I never actually worked in the trade, I know a little about the car repair business so I was very judicious about choosing a good body shop.
If you have insurance covered damage my advice is to choose your own shop to do the work. State Farm intentionally slowed the claim process by repeatedly trying to get me to move my truck to s shop within their network.
Instead, I judiciously chose a body shop connected to a 70 year old dealership whose reputation I was quite familiar with. That was a good choice. After a short conversation with the shop mgr., I was confident that the shop had “those guys” — i.e., real pros—working there.
The shop mgr had been there for 30 years . . .
If you need bodywork repairs, my advice is to seek the advice of other professional repair shops. A few short conversations will let you make a good choice. My truck looks brand new.
‘Tink sends you her usual good afternoon purr. Be well, love.
Good advice, Garrison. I am reading that private equity firms are buying up body repair shops, just as they are many generic businesses, and are charging out the wazoo for services. Fortunately on years past my jack of all trades/master of all especially with vehicles not all descriptions has managed to save us a bundle when needed, including body repair (fortunately only once for us). But as older age is the pits, we have had to find a good independent, which we have. I’m glad you’ve been able to grab hold of one for yourself 👍🏻
I am so sorry about the insurance thing. What a palaver…but then insurance of any kind is not always as clear as it could be, and the small print is a killer. Love Toyotas. Two of our grands drive older ones, and we expect they will be with them for a while.
(I was remembering our older three grands as babies yesterday. Very hard to think of them driving still…and just a touch scary, too, even though all three are good drivers. Its not them. It’s the roads full of maniacs who are not.)
Yum!!! Lunch sounds wonderful!! As in “Cheers”, right? Where everyone knows your name…and if not your name, your face 😁. I’m hungry now…may have tacos for dinner, or scrambled eggs with fried potatoes and bacon.
To be decided 😉😘

Mornin’ Dear Bets
Shaping up like a black kitty kind of day (fine with my Ozzie and Nigel!), but this little guy wanted in too, couldn’t say no.
Ozzie
With his sister Harriet – both 18
No question you have to let this one in, dear Corny!! 😂 He’s got the goods! ☕ I am loving the criss cross paws…and the sweet affection between Ozzie and Nigel. I feel more peaceful just looking at them 💕
You like?? 😺 💕
Wow! I have seen many Rex breeds but never one this curly.
Wonder if the image is enhanced? Really pretty, tho.
I seem to remember seeing one similar, Truli.
Anyway, only her hairdresser knows for sure 😉😎👍🏻
worst perm since Bob Dylan
Now now, nim 😎
I’m thinking pasta..in fact, I might he convinced to name him that 💕
Oh, my! I want one like that.
Get in line, Intense!!! 😂💕
This is probably one of my very favorite images today. What an unusual and pretty cat. Sigh, wish my hair had some curl in it like that! Unfortunately, mine is poker straight!
I was standing behind the door when the good Lord gave out thick luscious hair.
My first daughter elbowed her way to the front of the one she was in…blonde, thick, with lots of body and even a tendency to curl. And her daughter, my Sarah Grace, exactly the same. I have absolutely no clue where either is came from.
May the good and gracious Lord watch over us all as we slumber 🙏🏻💕
Beautiful. No other words necessary.
Love this image as well, but I truly like the black and white photos. The look and the resting of the head on the paw. Wonderful!
Almost a human aspect to his stare. And pose.
I am strongly drawn to black and white photography, no matter the subject matter. Loved these s one, Pat.
Morning, Garrison
Morning, benzy ☕💕
Mornin’ Dear Garrison
Really enjoying your offerings today. Most soothing, and most welcome. ❤️

Frederick Banting
(1891-1941)
Canadian physician, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, dies in a plane crash at 49
Biography: Frederick Banting was a Canadian medical scientist, physician, and Nobel laureate noted for his role in the discovery of insulin. This was a monumental breakthrough in the treatment of diabetes, a disease that, prior to the discovery of insulin, often resulted in premature death. Banting shared the 1923 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with his colleague John James Rickard Macleod, a recognition of the profound impact of their work.
Banting’s journey to the discovery of insulin was marked by persistence and collaboration. Working with his student assistant Charles Best in Macleod’s laboratory at the University of Toronto, Banting was able to isolate the hormone insulin for the first time. This would not have been possible without Banting’s innovative approach to tackling the pancreas’s secretion problem, a task many other researchers had unsuccessfully attempted.
In the years following the discovery of insulin, Banting continued to contribute to medical science. He also became heavily involved in military and aviation medicine during World War II.

Gertrude B. Elion
(1918-1999)
American biochemist and drug researcher who developed groundbreaking leukemia and herpes drug treatments (Nobel 1988), dies at 81
Biography: Gertrude B. Elion was an American biochemist and pharmacologist, who made immense contributions to medicine and chemistry. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1988, alongside George H. Hitchings and Sir James Black, “for their discoveries of important principles for drug treatment.”
Born in New York City, Elion was pursued a career in science after losing her grandfather to cancer. She graduated from Hunter College in 1937 with a degree in chemistry and later received her master’s degree from New York University. Despite her academic achievements, Elion faced significant challenges in finding research positions due to the prevalence of gender discrimination at the time.
Elion began her career in industry and joined the Burroughs Wellcome Company (now part of GlaxoSmithKline) in 1944, where she worked with George Hitchings. They developed a wide range of new drugs together using innovative research methods, including drug therapies for leukemia, autoimmune disorders, urinary tract infections, gout, malaria, and viral herpes.
Their approach involved understanding the difference in biochemistry between human cells and pathogens (like bacteria, viruses, or cancer cells) and designing drugs that could target these differences. This targeted method proved extremely successful, and it was for this that she was awarded the Nobel Prize with Hitchings and Black.
One of Elion’s most notable achievements was the development of the drug 6-mercaptopurine (sold as Purinethol), which was one of the first treatments for leukemia and significantly increased survival rates for children with the disease. This drug is now on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines.
She also played a key role in the development of azathioprine, the first immunosuppressive drug used for organ transplants, and acyclovir, one of the first antiviral drugs used for the treatment of herpes.
Throughout her career, Elion was granted 45 patents and her work led to the development of several key drugs that remain in use. She also contributed to the creation of AZT, an anti-retroviral drug which was the first to fight AIDS.
Despite not having a Ph.D., her contributions were recognized by numerous awards, including the Nobel Prize.

My TV in the background is showing Raquel Welch in a red shorts-and-shortsleeve jumpsuit kinda number laying out and straightening her parachute lines and then packing the chute
Now she’s jumping out of a small skydiving plane and free-falling, throwing in a couple tumblesaults and spins
Fathom (1967) — While touring abroad in Europe, beautiful American skydiver Fathom Harvil gets wrapped up in international intrigue …
This reminds me about how 60s films liked to feature and chase the adventure-seekers’ pursuits of the time. Hence movies with skydiving (Fathom, Goldfinger – Pussy Galore’s Flying Circus, Don’t Make Waves)
Scuba and skin diving – Bond movies Dr No and Thunderball, TV show Sea Hunt
I imagine all the film stunt men and set carpenters were getting out on these activities on weekends and dragging a couple screenplay writers with them
Cool the way 60s films mirrored and captured these outdoor activities of the time
Ok, back to Raquel, she’s landed now but is still in her form-fitting skydiving suit …
Oh, no – now it’s Tony Franciosa … he’s quite handsome in a 60s blonde leading-man kinda way, but since I’m cis-oriented he doesn’t do much for me
Now he’s frisking Raquel and checking in the big zipper in her flight suit … hey, it was the times …

Models have been all over the place on the coming bomb cyclone running up the east coast. That is why I have not put up any maps previously. But the Euro and GFS are now coming into closer agreement so………
Here is where they are now:
rah, it is 75° here on the Gulf Coast. Supposed to drop 40° by morning! 😯
Two systems one from the NE and the other coming across the south and turning north up the coast.
Blizzard warning for NYC.
Maybe the ‘collective’ warmth of Zofran might save them?
What will save them is if the model ensembles are wrong and the ever diminishing number that are still showing the storm to be further east out over the water turn out to be correct.
Joe Bastardi has been holding off on his forecast but I expect he’ll give it during his Saturday Summary later today.
But about all the other meteorologists I follow, including Ryan Hall, Dr. Ryan Maue have pretty much bought into the more westward track that will bring blizzard conditions to the I-95 corridor from Philly north to Boston and beyond.
The only climate catastrophe that I am aware of is all the hyperbolic names they use now for the weather. Bomb Cyclone.
What a catastrophe of hype!
It’s not a new term.

Verse of the Day for Saturday, February 21, 2026
✟
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
COMMENTARY FOR ROMANS 6:23
Believers must die to sin, and live to God. (1,2) This is urged by their Christian baptism and union with Christ. (3-10) They are made alive to God. (11-15) And are freed from the dominion of sin. (16-20) The end of sin is death, and of holiness everlasting life. (21-23)
21-23 The pleasure and profit of sin do not deserve to be called fruit. Sinners are but ploughing iniquity, sowing vanity, and reaping the same. Shame came into the world with sin, and is still the certain effect of it. The end of sin is death. Though the way may seem pleasant and inviting, yet it will be bitterness in the latter end. From this condemnation the believer is set at liberty, when made free from sin. If the fruit is unto holiness, if there is an active principle of true and growing grace, the end will be everlasting life; a very happy end! Though the way is up-hill, though it is narrow, thorny, and beset, yet everlasting life at the end of it is sure. The gift of God is eternal life. And this gift is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Christ purchased it, prepared it, prepares us for it, preserves us to it; he is the All in all in our salvation.
Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

Verse of the Day – February 21, 2026 (Morning Prayer)
______________________________
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered !!!
WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ABUSED, MISSING, AND TRAFFICKED CHILDREN
BE MY VOICE
CHILD NOT CHOICE
JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
The rank cynicism of The Left for allowing open borders to admit thousands upon thousands of innocent children . . . most of whom were and are trafficked by evil adults. Pure unadulterated evil.

SWEET JESUS – WHAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR US
How can we thank You for Your love for us
For what You have suffered – Oh, Sweet Jesus
It began with prayer in the Garden
You sweat tears of blood for our pardon
You taught us acceptance of Father’s will
You taught the importance of prayer still
You displayed how to be a servant of all
How blessed we are if we answer His call
You set out patience and perseverance
Your silence was notable adherence
We cannot imagine the perpetual pain
And all for our eternal life to gain
You exemplified unconditional love
What we struggle to be capable of
With each step to Your final elevation
Each part of You in abject ablation
Sweet Jesus – What have You done for us
Humiliating degradation thus
The agony had to be core complete
For propitiation – our sin to delete
The example of patient perseverance
Is one we must learn for apt adherence
We forget – we complain – of daily woes
You sorely suffered at the hands of Your foes
Our lives in turmoil – our nation in distress
There appears to be no end to the duress
And yet – when we think of Your sacrifice
All that we suffer is naught imprecise
Thus – If we turn the cross into a plus
We see clearly what You have done for us
The love displayed by Your outstretched arms
Anything we suffer – Your love disarms
Thank You, Sweet Jesus, for so loving us
For reopening Heaven – surely a plus
At the end of our lives here on Earth
A glorious reward of wondrous worth

A beautiful song from a little known artist.. enjoy
One of my favorite songs from Madeleine Peyroux.. a fun song telling the tale of the scorpion and the frog.. musically.
“Dance Me To The End Of Love” inspired me to buy her album “Careless Love“, although not when it came out…
I was late in “discovering” her music – actually Pandora (the app) found it when it played her music on my “Norah Jones” channel maybe 10 years back. You know how Pandora works – finds music “similar” to a piece you select…
I especially like her instrumental backup – very cool jazz.

Everyone told me to throw it out. The contractor, my sister, even my own husband said, “Maureen just get a new one from Home Depot and be done with it.” This stove belonged to my grandmother. A 1950s Chambers, white with chrome handles, six burners, double ovens, built in warming drawers, the kind of thing they simply do not make anymore. It sat in her kitchen in the house on Maple Street for over 40 years. She cooked every holiday meal on it, every birthday cake, every pot of Sunday sauce that made the whole block smell like garlic and tomatoes. When she died in 2019 the house went up for sale and my uncle was going to let the new owners gut the kitchen. I drove four hours with a rented truck and two guys from Craigslist to pull that stove out of there.
It sat in my garage for almost three years because I couldn’t afford to restore it. It was rusted in places, the enamel was chipped, two of the burners didn’t work, and one of the oven doors wouldn’t close right. Every time I walked past it to get to the washing machine I’d run my hand across the top and whisper, “I’m going to fix you, just wait.” My husband thought I was losing it. Then last year I got a small inheritance from an aunt on my dad’s side, not much, but enough. I found a guy who specializes in vintage appliance restoration and he spent three months bringing her back to life. The day they delivered it into my kitchen and I saw it sitting there under the warm light, looking exactly like it did in grandma’s house, I sat on my kitchen floor and sobbed. That white enamel shining, the chrome polished like mirrors, the burners clicking on perfectly.
I bake on it now every Sunday. The percolator on the stovetop is one I found through a seller’s shop who had a collection full of restored vintage enamelware and I nearly screamed when I saw it because it’s almost identical to the one grandma used. I’ve since decorated the whole area with handmade vintage style kitchen pieces I bought from different artisan shops, the little timer, the ceramic utensil holder, all of it. People come over and stand in my kitchen staring at this stove like it’s a museum piece and I just smile because they have no idea. It’s not a stove. It’s every Christmas morning, every burnt cookie we laughed about, every conversation we had while she stirred something on the back burner. They told me to throw it out. I’m so glad I never listened.
