Whelp it’s a crazy ramped up hyperventilation day in the news media over this decision by SCOTUS. I’m staying far away from all of it. It is mostly political hype anyway.
In the next few days after the immediate frothing at the mouth dies down, the real facts will emerge as usual. There are going to be ways to work with tariffs I’m sure and many here have indicated some of them. I agree completely with the reasoning there is a plan B which might just be better than plan A. All is not lost over this and the country has survived a weak SC before. What the justices just did was to cause more chaos for the economy and that is really unforgivable. So, on we go. I’m waiting for the rest of the story to unfold.
The easy way seems to have been taken out of the mix by a seemingly ‘undereducated on economics’ SC (by their own opening statement) on this decision. Now we will most likely see some hard actions coming into play to correct this mistake, put in place by the Trump team. What they will be and how successful remains to be seen.
I’m going on a news vacation other than the treehouse and a few sites I go to, for the rest of the weekend. The screaming is already too loud for me.
Hopefully ICE can take advantage of this media distraction.
Regarding lawsuits from companies that paid tariffs, they did so voluntarily. No one held a gun to their head and said that you must sell to the US. Perhaps their argument will be that the CEO would have had to take a cut in his bonus.
The tariff had to paid at the Port of Entry to US Customs or the merchandise would not be released to the importer.
Obviously, it’s not a voluntary payment! 😉
So, they were forced to import from China??
The goods don’t have to be made in a foreign country, particularly ones that detest the US and wish it ill will. Doing so is a CHOICE.

noting: some chatter suggesting this SCOTUS ruling against the Presidents Tariff policies have developed a renewed interest in “risk on” assets, such as Crypto. Specifically BTC and ETH. (I hold a tiny amount representing less than 1/2 of 1 percent of my portfolio in both of these coins. So to be clear, I may have some bias with my comments, but I will try to remain objective).
The problem with this suggestion is that BTC and ETH were already at or near institutional support floors after contracting over 50 percent from all time highs made last year. In my opinion, it was NOT tarriffs that led to the melt down, but is the DNA signature volatility that IS crypto very nature. Once all time highs and then euphoria levels are hit and they definitely were around Late Sept, 2025, there is a massive profit taking event. Then we had in October 2025 what is being referred to as a deleveraging event. This resulted in a dramatic plunge for Bitcoin and Etherium. To the uninitiated, this would appear to be unusual and concerning. It is neither. This is again crypto. You have to understand the nature of this highly speculative risk on asset. It moves in ranges that most people cannot seem to wrap their heads around, but a long term chart is all you need to examine to understand this reality.
my point here is long before President Trump even was discussing tariffs, crypto was moving massively, up AND down. It’s not in any way correlated to tariffs. What drives crypto is more or less sentiment about the global economy and in particular INTEREST RATES. This has been the single most important factor in crypto because interest rates that are lower, provide massive amounts of liquidity that institutional investors can depend on to make buying decision. And in the last 3 years more large “traditional” banks and institutional investors, black rock, vanguard, mstr, just to name a few, have decided to hold a massive amount of bitcoin and to a lessor extent, eth. (this last comment is a not so subtle hint. BTC is the KING, and eth is the bishop…90/10 bias in my view).
so what is really going on and why bitcoin is moving now and likely to have more inflows is not a result of this SCOTUS decision. But it is that there is the strong possibility that the Fed Reserve Board may drop rates, as they have at least two times in recent history. And this takes a little time for institutional players ..there is somewhat of a delay. What we are seeing now is the result of the effects of interest rates that were lowered about two months ago. And the price is right!
I personally think that tariffs are good for the United States. I also happen to believe that Team Trump has a plan to implement a trade equalization policy through other means. Stay tuned.

Today I mailed a small package from a UPS store in Norfolk, Virginia. I was made to show picture ID. I asked why that was necessary–the Indian female behind the counter said it was UPS policy now because of so much fraud. So you have to show picture ID to mail a freaking package but not to vote. Make it make sense.
I asked the lady at the polling place why we DIDN’T need to show ID. She said it was policy because of so much fraud.

Your local may well do good works, but the parent catholic charities contracts its services to the us government to facilitate illegal immigration.
