Mom checking on the news regarding Nancy Guthrie but then there is leak-through of other news and “guests” and we remember all over again why Fox is not welcome.
Turned it back on a while ago to CNN – it seemed someone was opining and commiserating with fellow news person about the state of the media today, waiting for a press conference that doesn’t happen and meanwhile people over on social media creating more questions – I am not sure what her beef was, I think the gist of it is that the teevee news is no longer totally controlling the dispensation of news and the social media outlets flood the zone with tidbits. Oh well! Click!
Why should not people get out of the habit of watching CNN also when you go over there and they are playing Anthony Bourdain episodes or the History of the Sitcom or some other thing they put in the can long ago to run when they don’t feel like paying reporters, sending people to locations.
It is really sad when a dead chef brings in more revenue then all the rest of CNN can.
If it means the end CNN I celebrate it not be sad about it.

How close to 1984 are we?
For reasons, its difficult to find the exact figures, but the largest employer in the US is the federal government. The next largest employer in the US is Walmart, but from what I can tell its not even close…And that’s before even counting active duty military and contractors who are technically “private sector”.
I live in a dark blue state and the largest employer in this state is, you guessed it, the state.
Quick googling requires using more than one weed-soaked brain cell, because you need to add public university systems with public health systems etc.; factor in welfare, medicaid, food stamps…and you probably get where I’m going.
Point being, what percentage of my state ISNT dependent, in some form or another, on the government to exist?
I dont know, but I’d love to – the number is probably pretty frightening. Thats just my state – extrapolate that across the whole US and maybe we get a sense of what the issue really is.

To answer the question of “how close to 1984”, I would look at the amount of government surveillance and the percentage of propaganda and falsehoods in the media. By such measures and in some regions of the nation we are already there…

I agree 100 percent with you that we don’t want to smear our side because we see something differently from others with the same goals.
However, respecting differences is not the same as standing silent when a speaker promotes lies intended to topple our leader.
If all else fails, an excellent rule of thumb is to remember “by their fruits you will know them.” What this means is to look at where a speaker’s words take you. A lie aimed at toppling our leader is a “fruit” that cannot be overlooked.
What is a lie?
And who gets to define this?
A example of a lie is stating with no evidence or supporting facts that President Trump supports corruption.
If anyone wants to make that claim, they absolutely need to show their reasons and give facts. When they do that, those of us who disagree can begin a dialogue with them.
But to just make a statement to this effect and then continue on in a long comment that assumes this statement to be true shows the commenter to be disengenious.
I decide when I think someone is lying., just as you do.
And if the lie is destructive and aimed at toppling our leader, I will confront it. The person lying has a choice. They can defend the lie and the result will be a conversation. Of they can deflect, which means they have no interest in conversation. Like a hunter, their purpose is to snare people who might not be considering the broader situation.
Lying and deflecting are both a waste of time and do not promote the “shared” goals you refer to.
Donald Trump was not a true blue democrat. He spent time in Ross Perot’s Reform Party too. His political alignments suggest dissatisfaction with the status quo and a bad fit for either of the two major parties. He was a wanderer.
Trump didn’t join the Republican party to swear fealty to the old guard. He performed a Wall Street style hostile takeover. The RNC had structure, a hugely valuable data base, a billion dollars in the bank, and a voting block who identified with the word Republican. The GOP had good bones. They were war games – where one group of allies play the opp force against another. We do it in the US all the time. Civilian contractors (often ex-mil) act as the opp force in the case of combined arms simulations in order to throw curve balls at the opposing side. In the case of pilots, think of Top Gun. In the case of the Navy, incoming and outgoing fleets often practice against each other.

The best breed in the universe-yes I am highly biased here-is the Labrador retriever hands down. They are highly intelligent, tuned into their people who they love totally, fun to be with, and think they are 80 lb lap dogs all the time. I rest my case. Nobody should ever try to take my dogs away. The results would not be pretty.

I get it I am bias as well but for the German Shepherd. Besides possessing all the above qualities you mentioned they can be fierce when it comes to protecting their family. Unfortunately some don’t consider that a positive.
I have a dear friend who has a wonderful German Shepard who is easily trained and fiercely protective of her. When repairmen come to her home and must work inside, “Chief” stays by her side. If she must sit with anyone to conduct business, she says “place” and he sits at the ready in the corner nearest to her. Strangers are equally impressed and cautious.
Moreover, Chief quickly learns and is keenly aware of who “belongs.” He is a magnificent, protective, and loving companion.

Depends on what people want from a dog. I am an upland game hunter so prefer the Brittany for a variety of reasons, though I do like labs, but I don’t waterfowl hunt.
Brittanies are a great size in the house, males 40-45 lbs, females 30-35 pounds. Tremendous noses, the average Brittany can smell a bird on the ground from 25 yards away, steady pointers, okay retrievers, and huge prey drive. I’ve went peasant hunting with mine and labs and the labs never had a chance.
They are known for their activity so not for couch potatoes, and are called devils in the field and angels in the house. Very lovable, loyal good dogs as long as they get the exercise they need.

All dogs are good dogs if they fit your lifestyle and you use them for something close to their purpose. Otherwise you have dogs that are under challenged physically and mentally and they become problem dogs.
JMO but the German Shepherd Dog is the most versatile and majestic breed among them , yet has rarely won. I don’t know why but for the longest they had a bias towards the smaller breeds. I would guess because of their compatibility in the home no matter how spacious.

Trump has stood by and watched Perfect murder Good for 8 years – maybe longer. He’s not gonna do it. He’s going to deliver the best outcome possible, and he’s not waiting for us to feel relaxed about it.
Best presidency ever! Just hang on. More winning is coming, but a lot of people are going to scream that it’s all over at EVERY turn.
The best way through this is to define viewpoints, not people, because people will shift as they change position and velocity in Trump gravity.
Bash the neocon, warmonger, and dopey globalist positions – not the people who are going to hold them one moment and come loose from them later.
Trump is Jupiter moving through the asteroid belt. He is going to pull people into his orbit.
A few will get slung off into space, but most will come along for the ride of their lives.

Here is the game plan that the forces against Trump will be using for the foreseeable future.
They will attempt to get you to make the perfect the enemy of the good.
Be it the freedom clowns and spending, the immigration hawks with H1B visas, the peace doves with timing, the cultural warriors with total bans of DEI/CRT, the neocons with war fighting, or the swamp dwellers with draining the swamp.
All of them will attempt to get you to believe on whatever issue is the issue of the day that it doesn’t go far enough or do enough. They will try to make you think that some sub issue of that issue is more important and should be handled first, that since the issue hasn’t been handled yet it won’t be, that we can’t do more than one thing, that so and so is a plant to stop the draining of the swamp, or that because it wasn’t 100% Trump lied. On every single issue, one or more groups will attempt this strategy.
You can’t allow them that power over you. If Trump secures the border and deports 2 million, don’t allow them to reduce that good by them saying well he didn’t deport 2.5 million, so he failed or lied.
You can’t allow them to use the perfect to void out the good in the coming months.
They will try. They already have with the CR and the H1b visa debates. It works, that is why they use it. You have to keep it in the front of your head on everything about to occur that half a loaf or hopefully in most cases 7/8ths a loaf is better than no loaf.
Do not allow them to gaslight you into thinking the good is the enemy of the perfect.
In the real world, most things are never perfect, but if we try real hard, we can get plenty of good accomplished in the coming 4 years.
The purpose and goals of President Trump are plainly visible by his actions and consistent: He is for the benefit first of the common PEOPLE of this country, then of the PEOPLE in the rest of the world. It is validating, even to our battered conservative skepticism.
The methods of his leadership are amazing. I still don’t get HOW he does it, or HOW he is able to get so much momentum going, but every day the momentum is growing. Everyone and every organization has their eyes opened every day — just by watching him. Even those who hate him, are biased against him, and want to see him gone — cannot ignore him. He lives rent free in their head, and they come around to seeing the universal principles by which he is operating. He hammers actions based on truth from one direction, then another, and they cannot mount an organized opposition against him.
President Trump is transparent in his words and actions. He is consistent in what he says, what he does, and what he asks/demands of others. His promises are bold and he keeps them like no other president has. He is making massive, nearly overnight changes, not only in our country, but in the world. It is amazing that he is able to accomplish so much when there are so many snakes in the grass. This term, he is weeding them out faster. No U.S. president has ever faced so much organized resistance and treason than President Trump
He has chosen to use his intellect and every skill he has to do what is right. He has tremendous faith that he can make a difference in this world. He has a confidence and courage such that he doesn’t care what others think, yet a humility to know he has to do it with the help of like minded people. Those people are the “common” people, and he ridicules those who think they are not common.
He believes people are basically good. He believes that God is real. He believes that healthy people are happy people, and they need to be able to create wealth freely for their labor, and have the freedom to spend their money on what is good for them.
He believes the United States, with its Constitutional Republic, is the best environment in the world to enable and give opportunity for people to be happy and prosperous.
He believes that we can be a light for the world, but we must demand that the rest of the world respect us and our right to life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness.
He believes the enemy of our country are the stupid, greedy American people who have been selfishly taking advantage of this country; who betrayed the trust and obedience of its people; and who diverted the people’s wealth for their own selfish gain, at the expense of the principles of this country. He’s not going to allow that anymore.
He has cultivated and focused the family of MAGA. Identifying those people whose goodness, industriousness, trust, and obedience have been taken advantage of and abused. He has opened our eyes to this abuse, and the rights of freedom and self determination that have been quietly stolen from us.
He has rekindled the healthy distrust of government and men with too much power held by our founders. He has recultivated the desire to reclaim our freedoms and rights, and is empowering us with a hope and pathway to reclaim our spiritual and economic freedom.
He wants the US to be a light of hope on the hill for all people. He will negotiate win/win agreements with those nations and countries who respect us; who respect the principles and intent of our Constitution. If you do not respect us, however, we are not going to let you take advantage of our goodness, or share in our wealth at our expense. If you as a nation are treating your people badly, you are going to be treated less favorably by us, until you show that you value your people as much as we value ours.
He is convincing those who are very wealthy (most of whom truly earned their money), that the best economic soil in which to build wealth is in a constitutional republic, which supports the ability of the common man to earn wealth in proportion to his efforts. The economic engine of the United States is the human spirit freed to enjoy the fruits of honest labor, and that engine has more natural and raw horsepower than any other governed economy.
The Trump Train seems to be remarkably aligned with universal principles of Truth, which reflect the will and design of our Creator, and are the best standard by which we should live. These same principles were what our country’s founders used to declare independence, and framed into the Constitution of this nation.
Our founders believed that a nation should preserve the right and freedom of an individual to seek, understand, and live by God’s principles. They believed that free individuals working together in humility would make a stronger nation than a government which dictates its will on the people. President Trump professes and seeks to lead and restore this nation back to these same principles.
These principles resonate deeply within all human beings, down to our DNA in every cell, in our spirits, and produce fruit that “miraculously” multiplies. Because we follow universal principles, we see the snowballing acceleration of momentum on day 26 of the 2nd year of the 2nd term of this very stable genius in the history of the kingdoms of this world in the year of our Lord 2025.

Good morning from N Minnesota. 23 degrees with a high projected in the low 40’s today. Been thinking bout the garden past couple of days. Might try Cucamelon’s and / or Pepino melons this year. Decision has been made about growing pole beans instead of bush beans this year. Ordered some Chayote squash to taste test. Thinking about a big trellis over patio if I like it and can make use of that type squash.
I love that planning…! It offers hope! And I hope it warms a bit more for all y’all up there…!

Over the years, I have had a few depressed patients wallowing in self pity or sadness…trying to focus them forward, I have often suggested the idea of planning their spring gardens…flowers and veggies…for a few, it worked.
Been growing a vegetable garden for years. It keeps getting larger. Had a bad rabbit problem last year which forced me to install an electric fence. I like growing different / odd things. I asked the Brave-browser AI about the history of the film industry’s expulsion of James Woods. I ended up being more interested in the words that came back than the content of the response.

So much about AI is shear BS, starting from Turing setting up the criteria that it must fool the user.
If your judgment of sentience is that it fools the user, it is not sentient.
There have been so many claims thrown out lately about what it can do and subsequently, how it will take over jobs. In general, I am skeptical.
If AI is taking the job of that Stasi guy listening and recording every room in the apartment complex, I am sold. Automated mass spying, sorting through masses of data to find our sins. Yeah, that is what those massive data centers will do and will make tons of money doing it for the government. But those Stasi guys will have different jobs, arresting and jailing us.
What I can judge is the BS, bias, propaganda that spews falsehoods. In short, it has access to all information and uses it without knowing anything. But manipulates the information to support liberal bias.
I asked it about the painting of Washington praying. It told me it was painted in the 1950’s but had influence in the previous century. Pushing at the obvious falsehood, it finally admitted that there were many prior paintings which influenced the 19th century. But throughout, it kept repeating some liberal based ‘research’ claiming that the tale told by people having claimed to see it were just fables.
Anyone who relies on that AI fraud for anything will be misled. How could you ever trust AI to do the work of the people you fired?
But there are still a lot of claims that I haven’t seen so can’t judge. Such as AI programming code. Or AI trying to protect itself.
But I do know the harsh world of programming. A program does exactly what the programmer told it to do. Nothing more, nothing less. I’ve been burned by that many times. Even had to unplug a computer to stop an (unintended) infinite loop. There are wonderful programmers out there. But getting the program to do what they wanted it to do still takes multiple iterations. And I have been involved in the specification and verification and validation processes for code.
There have been great improvements in programming tools over the years. Maybe someday, those specifications can be input into an AI that will spit out a code that is sure to pass the testing. That is still short of sentience. It would though put a lot of very talented people out of jobs.
Really sneaky calling left-wing extremist, but dancing around right-wing being used as extremist. Since AI is just copying what it reads, I think it could be a great tool to make obvious some of the arguments used to define our world.
AI could be a great tool if used properly… But already has become an indoctrination source for the leftists…
Current AI makers are programming their AI computers to go only to liberal, left wing, sites, such as wikipedia, snopes, etc. to find information for their intelligent ( ?) “answers”…
If one just sticks to factual queries about math, engineering and most other sciences; the answers are just a convenient way to search.

We all learn to separate the grains of truth from the chaff of ideological AI programmers.

I found Brave’s search in general was useless. For most things I use duckduckgo, which tends to give better results than most. Somethings I use StartPage and for really “hidden” things go with Yandex.

You make an excellent point regarding potential abuse regarding false accusations. Perhaps some minimum amount of supporting evidence be required – along with a financial or legal penalty for multiple false allegations (i.e. 3 strikes your out).
Worth noting that ultimately it’s up to the treasury department to decide whether or not an actual investigation is initiated based upon the information provided (they all won’t be), and no charges or actions will occur unless an investigation uncovers enough proof and reason.
Along the same line of thinking of the second paragraph – the government as a whole (DOJ, Treasury, FBI, etc) can and does do investigations on their own anyway and have been shown to do them for spite and to attack political opponents – so not having a whistleblower hotline wouldn’t prevent such activities…

This mornings Las Vegas paper has the usual hand wring about drought and the Colorado river running dry because of the lack of precipitation but in an article just below they say the banner snowfall is causing booming business for the ski resorts and the weeds on my propery are higher than any of the 20 years that I’ve lived here because of all the rainfall this year.
When I make the drive across the desert, I see lakes of standing water that the ground has been unable to absorb.
Colorado has had very little snow and ski slopes are already closing. The drought is at the source of the Colorado, not downstream.
My point is that there is no drought HERE and that media is lying because the powers that be in Las Vegas want an excuse to seize control of our private wells to the North so they can continue uncontrolled building and expansion.
Where I live, our only source of water is from our wells and if Vegas is allowed to take our water, our properties become uninhabitable and worthless.

How many players will be sick or injured when the team plays in California? How many teams will fly in and leave the day of the game?
Now let’s look at where the real change is coming. College football. Those players are making big money now. How would you like to be the coach at USC competing with Texas for a player? The coach at Texas says, we will match whatever they are offering and you will have 13% more money. How many players playing in a no state income tax state will refuse to play a bowl game in a state with state income tax because of the taxes. Looking at you Rosebowl. How many players will make their college decisions based on states with no state income tax. How many colleges from no state income tax states will not book games in states with state income taxes?
The super bowl just put a big spotlight on state income taxes.
Originally states didn’t charge people for income due to spending a few days or a week in their state on business – it was based strictly on residency (and used to be in Commiefornia before the massive election corruption).
Now about 40% of the states charge taxes on any “income earned” while in their state – including for example, if you are a business executive travelling to a state for a meeting (good reason why teleconference became so popular).

President Trump’s reshaping of the political battlefield includes destroying the globalists by letting America and America’s citizens keep more of their own $$$$.
He is doing it through tariffs, reducing the size of the federal government, reducing regulations and lowering taxes on citizens.
A main objective is to encourage citizens and businesses to move away from the big banks and start using their regional / state banks or credit unions for their financial transactions.
Lowering interest rates for credit cards, etc. is part of that activity ….. but it also involves the reduction in overall use of credit cards, ……… resulting in reducing the size and number of big banks ….. and their stranglehold on America and Americans, aka destroying the globalists.
Small and medium businesses are encouraged to move to the regional / state banks.
They are also encouraged to move away from solely accepting credit cards and move more of their retail transactions back to checks (e-checks, paper checks, etc.) and of course, cash.
This eliminates the service charge from the big bank’s credit card to the business and also eliminates the interest charge on their customer’s big bank credit card. It also eliminates much of the tracking of the citizen’s purchases.
This is possible by letting main-street Americans keep more of their own $$$$ to save and have in their checking accounts so they don’t need the credit cards for everything they buy. It doesn’t eliminate credit cards, it just reduces their use in controlling citizens.
This change for American businesses and citizens piggybacks onto the smart trend to move away from “so-called-smart-phones” back to land-lines.
Not for all communications …… but America and Americans have given up many of their freedoms for “convenience “ and it is time for the ol’ pendulum to swing back to personal freedoms, not “convenience”.
So, if you are still tethered to a big bank, it is time to start looking for a regional / state / local bank or credit union.
In addition to voting for MAGA / America First candidates, it will be your contribution to destroying the globalists who are trying to destroy our Constitutional Republic and our Constitution.
