(1770-1857)
English-Canadian explorer (Columbia River, mapped more Canadian territory than anyone else), dies at 86
Biography: Born into poverty in a Welsh family in London, David Thompson was educated at a charity school and apprenticed to the Hudson Bay Company (HBC) in 1784 at 14 years old. An unpromising start for a man who went on to become one of the great geographers of North America, mapping more of Canada than any other individual.
Thompson experienced a deeply religious episode as a young man, where he later described playing draughts with the devil. This incident had a profound effect on the rest of his life. In 1790 he was trained in surveying and astronomy by Philip Turnor, chief surveyor to the HBC. Although appointed HBC surveyor in 1795 he then joined their rival, the North West company and went on to work for them for 16 years mapping the 49th parallel, the border between Canada and the US. He went on to map the north and the west coast.
Thompson’s work was notable for the way he recorded the way of life of the First Nations people and he learnt a number of their languages. His later years were more tragic. He moved to Montreal but lost his savings and ended his days in poverty. His maps were sold to a London publisher for very little and not published under his name. However his reputation was revived posthumously by the publication of his travel narrative by the geologist Joseph Burr Tyrrell.

COMMENTARY FOR ROMANS 5
The happy effects of justification through faith in the righteousness of Christ. (1-5) That we are reconciled by his blood. (6-11) The fall of Adam brought all mankind into sin and death. (12-14) The grace of God, through the righteousness of Christ, has more power to bring salvation, than Adam’s sin had to bring misery, (15-19) as grace did superabound. (20,21)
1-5 A blessed change takes place in the sinner’s state, when he becomes a true believer, whatever he has been. Being justified by faith he has peace with God. The holy, righteous God, cannot be at peace with a sinner, while under the guilt of sin. Justification takes away the guilt, and so makes way for peace. This is through our Lord Jesus Christ; through him as the great Peace-maker, the Mediator between God and man. The saints’ happy state is a state of grace. Into this grace we are brought, which teaches that we were not born in this state. We could not have got into it of ourselves, but we are led into it, as pardoned offenders. Therein we stand, a posture that denotes perseverance; we stand firm and safe, upheld by the power of the enemy. And those who have hope for the glory of God hereafter, have enough to rejoice in now. Tribulation worketh patience, not in and of itself, but the powerful grace of God working in and with the tribulation. Patient sufferers have most of the Divine consolations, which abound as afflictions abound. It works needful experience of ourselves. This hope will not disappoint, because it is sealed with the Holy Spirit as a Spirit of love. It is the gracious work of the blessed Spirit to shed abroad the love of God in the hearts of all the saints. A right sense of God’s love to us, will make us not ashamed, either of our hope, or of our sufferings for him.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. I’ve kept my Vitamin D blood level between 60-80 ng/ml for 15 years and have not gotten any illnesses like Covid or others.
You can order your own blood test here in the USA (except NY I believe) and then you take the lab test requisition to the Lab (such as Lab Corp) and then the results are emailed to you.
Every 3 months is often a good idea.
Then you can adjust your Vitamin D dosage accordingly.
My fave place to order the blood test is LEF.org but there are many others.

I don’t know if anyone else has had a problem like this. It took me 2 months to get an appt with my PCP, when I went to the appt I was told he wasn’t in my network starting 1/1/26. Some time later I get a letter stating he’s no long in my network. So I waited 2 months for nothing. Now I have to find a new PCP and the earliest I can get in to see a new doctor is August!!! The doctors I wanted were only taking so many new Medicare patients so I have to wait for an opening. I suppose there are some English as a second language doctors I could get appt with but I chose not to go that way? I guess in the meantime I can always go to Urgent Care if needed. Frustrating!!!
