Unfortunately, people do read Old Testament prophetic scriptures without seeing prophetic Scriptures of Christ. They even use a different term, the tanakh. It consists of the Torah (books of Moses), the Nevi’im (the prophets) and the Ketuvim (writings). Isaiah is in the prophets and Psalms is in the writings.
There are great similarities between this Hebrew Bible and our Old Testament. But we don’t read into them the same things.
Can you imagine what it would have been like to be one of the disciples the resurrected Christ explained scripture too on the road to Emmaus? Luke 24:13-35
The Gospel writers strived to show how Christ fulfilled many of these prophecies. But without their guidance we would be just as blind as those two disciples before being taught by Christ.
PS, Jews selected which scriptures they thought important and preserved the Hebrew versions. The dead sea scrolls have lots of these Hebrew texts and it is claimed that very little has changed in 2000 years, even though the oldest prior copy was written circa 1000 AD.
But the DSS have many more things. Including other Hebrew scriptures and scriptures in other languages. What they don’t have is the Greek translation of the scriptures that were made earlier in Egypt. But, there are some versions of the Hebrew scriptures in the DSS that read much like the Greek versions.
Yes, you read that right, the Greek version, which became the Christian Old Testament has more difference with the Hebrew Bible than have developed in the Hebrew Bible over 2000 years of copying.
Furthermore, the Greek version is considered unreliable. There have been multiple known attempts to modify it. Who knows if other attempts succeeded? And our oldest copies seem to be from after we canonized them circa 400 AD. Unfortunately we do not have early copies.
But even with all that, the choice of books is mostly the same. And the content is mostly the same. It would be nice to have copies from before the translation and to find out the originals. Something I find odd, is the stink that is made about Ezra’s Bible and the power he was given to make it the official scripture. (By Persian Emperor much like the Roman Empire made our scripture official. This is in Ezra and Nehemiah.) Ezra even implements genetic purity codes for priests, which by implication were not in the scriptures that were followed when all those priests married. Too bad we don’t have 2700 or 3000 year old copies to know what was scripture before captivity or around David’s time.

In December I posted about the sale at Christie’s auction house of this Russian jewelry art masterpiece; sold in London for 19.5Million pounds sterling (I mistakenly denoted the amount in dollars in that share) – but the buyer was not named.
This names the buyer and traces the origin story, history, and ownership timeline in a full-circle tale… extraordinarily, back to the descendants of the gentleman who bought – no rescued – it from the Bolsheviks.
Mr. Snowman rescued the Winter Egg, and his family has just acquired it again (just shy of) a century later…

COMMENTARY FOR PROVERBS 28
1 Sin makes men cowards. Whatever difficulties the righteous meet in the way of duty, they are not daunted. #2|. National sins disturb the public repose. #3|. If needy persons get opportunities of oppressing, their extortion will be more severe than that of the more wealthy. #4|. Wicked people strengthen one another in wicked ways. #5|. If a man seeks the Lord, it is a good sign that he understands much, and it is a good means of understanding more. #6|. An honest, godly, poor man, is better than a wicked, ungodly, rich man; has more comfort in himself, and is a greater blessing to the world. #7|. WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thinking, we have failed as adults, as teachers, mentors, and parents. Woodstock, burning of bra’s, freedom. Freedom, or worse, loss of personal, national values, and virtues.
Our children today, and unfortunately, some adults no longer know the definition of moral, value, virtue, integrity.
We as a people need to walk the walk. I grew up knowing from the day I first walked, right was right, wrong, you got a paddle, or switch. You learned from every person around you, every person taught, had something to teach. You were taught, see what needs to be done, do it. No questions, no matter, you do it. It becomes who you are. No one told you, you knew, you did.
Unfortunately today, as the product of our failure as a whole, the young, and adults only recognize entitlement. Handouts, depend on govt., others to pay their way. Working for a paycheck? Sad, pray, pray that with responsible humans, Gods oversite, the situation changes, people actually mature once again.
Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
