Actually, it’s not “made-up” at all. Good book for an introduction: The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton. Weird but fascinating stuff. Or look up articles on spontaneous remissions from Stage IV cancer. It always seems frivolous until you need an enormous change in perception to work to your advantage.
Had a wise person once tell me “An unchallenged Lie is perceived as the Truth” –good reason to always challenge liars no matter what.
I agree. Perception changes minds and votes at election time. It’s the media’s job to change perceptions for whatever side is paying them. That’s how perception becomes reality and that’s how people who don’t really pay attention to any details on issues decide who they are going to vote for. So yeah, “perception is reality” is NOT a made up cliche. It’s real and it is a tool to be used to get results that are wanted by any group trying to change minds and issues to suit their purposes.

So why should we bother paying taxes? It only facilitates more crime.
People who work at a job that is paid as a W2 has no choice because the taxes are deducted before you see it.
You can submit forms at work to change withholding.
Some like to pay too much and brag about there refunds. Kind of like a bank with no interest.
I adjusted mine down when I got big refunds. Rather have the money when I earned it.
But be careful. There are fines for repeatedly paying too little and owing them too much. If you end up paying thousands you should probably adjust to withhold more.
BTW, if there is a simple formula I’d like to know. I’d run my tax numbers with different exemptions to ball park what to put on the form.
I thought it was always smart to have my money as I earned it, rather than the government use my money interest free until the end of the year. I worked with some one who added dependents so they could keep more money during the year. It worked for about 6 months until he got a letter from the IRS wanting copies of those new dependents SS number and a copy of their birth certificates. Huuuuuge fine.

I am becoming ever more skeptical of “data centers” popping up everywhere and the amount of water and electricity, which they will need.
Here in northwest Ohio, 800 acres of great farmland were sold to an unnamed company (why are they secret?), which is now building a “data center” on it.
From what has been revealed so far, the anonymous company will NOT be providing their own power or water, causing many to wonder about or even fear possible blackouts, rising costs for electricity and water, and basic environmental degradation.
The anonymity is most suspicious.
All of this for (supposedly) 100 jobs?
As usual, I have no doubt that local zoning boards and other officials were financially greased to approve this, despite great opposition!

I live in NE OH and travel regularly to the St. Louis area as well as to east coast by vehicle. I travel mostly by Interstate highways but do use secondary roads as well. I have been alarmed over the continued construction of thousands of mega warehouses of several hundred thousand sq ft each well before the term “data center” became common venacular. They are built and then set empty for years. Some that I regularly pass by have sat empty for 5 yrs or more. I’m hard pressed to believe that these are spec projects and innocuous in intent. They very seldom have any signage except the sales signs broadcasting “space available”. We have one at the intersection of I-71 and I76/US224 that just recently started having limited activity after having sat empty for over 3 yrs.
There is a huge construction project taking up both sides on Cty Highway 32 west of Lebanon, IN and on the west side of I-65.
Yes, such warehouses are everywhere: and the loss of so much farmland is highly disturbing: warehouses a quarter of a mile long, and there is never any idea of building upward to save land.
I have read that “data centers’ like the one near us may become obsolete in 5 years, as there are already plans to put them into orbit, where you will not need millions of gallons of water for cooling them nor thousands of square miles of land.
I read the other day that Greenland has a perfect climate for all these data centers.

Haven’t heard much about this investigation besides an occasional drip, drip on more conservative outlets.

One thing which has stopped working years ago are the Notifications: I hit the little bell most of the time, but no notification ever comes through. (Yes, I check the SPAM folder and so on. The Moderators could not decipher what was wrong.)
I greatly miss our old “notifications” system as well! It was a function of the old WordPress format that we were unable to carry over to the new CTH 2.0 – due to cost constraints. It involved multiple relay connections (in the millions ) that would have made the new site so much more complicated.

Yesterday, President Trump said that he had been told the killings of demonstrators in Iran were stopping, and that there were not going to be any executions (of prisoners of the Islamic Republic regime).
It can be inferred from this remarkable statement, that the Iranian regime is now obeying the wishes of President Trump, having heeded his threats against harming the Iranian demonstrators. What changed, to deflate the regime?
I can speculate that our Special Forces, having been inserted into Iran perhaps a week ago, reached the Supreme Leader’s bunker, and they are now having tea and cakes with Ali Khamenei, while arranging his departure from the country. I hope they took their boots off. This could be a signal for the IRGC remaining to burn their uniforms and join the people, and for the Iranian Army to defect to the instructions of the King. From my perusals over the last several days…there were two things…one, public executions…and two…executions to be held in the prisons.

The Supreme Court just handed down a landmark decision for election integrity. In a 7–2 decision on January 14, 2026, the Court ruled in Bost v. Illinois State Board of Elections that candidates for office automatically have standing to challenge the way votes are counted in their own elections. That’s a huge win for election integrity and a game-changer headed into the midterms.
Remember how in 2020, President Trump and others kept getting their challenges thrown out because courts said they didn’t have “standing”? That’s now history. The Court just made it clear that candidates always have a personal stake in fair election rules—because they’re the ones directly competing under those rules.
