Jonathan Ross: What We Know About Minneapolis ICE Agent’s Military Service
In 2005, when Ross returned from Iraq, he attended college and later joined the Border Patrol in 2007 near El Paso, Texas. He then worked as a field intelligence agent while gathering and analyzing information on drug cartels and human smuggling operations.
Ross said he later worked as a deportation officer based in Minnesota after joining ICE in 2015. He testified last month that he had been most recently assigned to fugitive operations, tasked to apprehend “higher value targets” within a region that includes Minneapolis. Ross also said he was a team leader on the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Associated Press reported.
“So I develop the targets, create a target package, surveillance, and then develop a plan to execute the arrest warrant,” he said.
“This is a guy who’s actually done a very, very important job for the United States of America,” Vance said. “He’s been assaulted. He’s been attacked. He’s been injured because of it.”

One can draw from this article and the agent’s expertise that ICE is working on arresting “high value” targets there in Minneapolis – and I bet there’s a lot of them.
The initial ICE statement said it was “targeted” operation.

At 8pm local time, the People in Iran, wherever they are will begin to chant. Sometime a vote does not require a ballot. People can vote with their voices; they can vote with their bodies, coming out into the streets. This is a referendum on the Islamic Republic, and a plebiscite on forming a new nation.
I would have President Trump hear these voices, see these crowds, and become the first world leader to recognize the new nation of Iran. If he is first, other world leaders will follow. He may choose to recognize the King as the representative of this new nation, because who else? Heads of State may lead in an interim, until a new government can be formed. Nevertheless the credentials of all the representatives of the Islamic Republic at embassies around the world will become null and void. Treaties signed with the old regime will become wastepaper, when the new nation is recognized.
It is too late to let the people of Iran down, by holding their aspirations in abeyance for the sake of form. It would be madness to abandon them in their hour of need. 92 million people in existential crisis need help to secure their safety from the rogue regime and to extract the remaining holdouts. The people do not have armed soldiers to accomplish these tasks, but need help doing the things they cannot do for themselves. This task falls to those who can do it, the natural allies of the people of Iran, Israel and America. We must not go wobbly.
Is there precedent for this act of recognition? I would point to 1948, May 14, when President Harry Truman became the first world leader to recognize Israel as a new nation. Recognizing the independence of Iran from the Islamic Republic, and the Iranian People’s wishes to form a new constitution, is within the power and prerogative of our President.

I’m against “foreign entanglements” in the sense of what we have done for example in Iraq and Afghanistan. But not all interest in what happens in another country fits under that umbrella.
President Trump has already committed to “helping” the Iranian people by telling the criminal government not to kill people or they will be hit. That is different than what we did in Iraq or Afghanistan.
My point here is we need to judge each event/situation for what it is and not throw labels that cloud thinking.
Yes, foreign entanglement is to be avoided. But a free Iran would most likely make the world — including us — safer. And because the people of Iran are fighting for freedom, we can support them in ways that don’t require boots on the ground (and also because President Trump thinks outside the box).
To take this one step further, in my view our “entering into foreign entanglements” has been mainly for the benefit of the elites. That’s been true no matter the president. But President Trump will not do anything to support elites. In fact, he is taking down the elite power structure, which is why they keep trying to get rid of him. So his support of for example the people of Iran doesn’t have to necessarily become an entanglement.

Pres Trump, when asked the other day by reporter at his statement about the action in Venezuela, said she does not have enough backers and is not popular enough to win and rule the country. I’m paraphrasing here, but that was the gist of his answer. If she runs for office the people can decide if they want her or not. Free and fair elections must come soon and the communist Maduro people left in govt. need to be booted out.
Rubio said recently that he had several discussions with Machado and that she had no plans for how to move forward for Venezuela, nor how to unite the country, and was unprepared for the dufficult task of rebuilding ahad of the country.. He also said that they did not want an appearance that the US was installing the next President of Venezuela. They expect eventual elections.
Both Rubio and Trump speak well of her as a very nice person and seem to respect her. However, I think they just want to be sure that Venezuela succeeds and did not seem to have confidence she was prepared enough.
Given the amount of money that our oil industry is going to sink into that country- so much that we’ve got to help them out, I can’t say that I blame Trump and Rubio for needing an absolute home run on how this all goes with whoever they decide can get the job done of running the country.
Don’t forget, those investors are not going to invest unless they see a solid situation coming together.
I don’t think they feel Machado has what it takes and given Donald Trump’s incredible amount of experience in hiring people, I’d say he knows what he’s talking about.

It had to do with an inmate sentenced that was issued under mandatory minimum sentence guidelines and the lawsuit by the inmate was to question the parameters of the sentencing guidelines; something to do with the differences in federal vs state sentencing guidelines and the ruling sends the case back to the lower court to determine if the inmate should receive authorization to file a second or successive motion under the correct standard for such mandatory sentencing guidelines.
(from speed-reading the decision, also, am not a lawyer so am sure branch sitting lawyers could expand on this ruling.)

ICE officers do not have a hair trigger. No officer who was injured in the line of duty is returned to the line of duty unless and until he or she has healed from the trauma and passed a rigorous mental and physical fitness for duty exam.

I greatly dislike Cloudflare – but in this case they are standing against the EU attempts to control the world…
Yesterday a quasi-judicial body in Italy fined @Cloudflare $17 million for failing to go along with their scheme to censor the Internet. The scheme, which even the EU has called concerning, required us within a mere 30 minutes of notification to fully censor from the Internet any sites a shadowy cabal of European media elites deemed against their interests. No judicial oversight. No due process. No appeal. No transparency. It required us to not just remove customers, but also censor our 1.1.1.1 DNS resolver meaning it risked blacking out any site on the Internet. And it required us not just to censor the content in Italy but globally. In other words, Italy insists a shadowy, European media cabal should be able to dictate what is and is not allowed online.
That, of course, is DISGUSTING and even before yesterday’s fine we had multiple legal challenges pending against the underlying scheme. We, of course, will now fight the unjust fine. Not just because it’s wrong for us but because it is wrong for democratic values.
