The 3rd Day of Christmas
Bible verse (King James version):
“In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.” John 1:4
Prayer: “Lord, you gave your life for me that I might have life everlasting. Grant that in my own life I may reach out to other souls in Love and Understanding. May I perceive all those I meet as spiritual beings and in discarding the selfishness and narrowness of my old thinking become, like you, the light of the world. In your name, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
Contemplation: On the 2nd day of Christmas we are told that Christ is creative. Now on the 3rd day we meet two important aspects of Christ, first that it contains life and second that this life is also the light of humanity. It is the power to live as creative individuals and that this light gives understanding, knowledge and wisdom within those who accept the Christ which, in turn, illuminates the lives and purposes of those around us.
In World War 2 the darkness was immense, the majority either ignored or collaborated with the genocide of the Jews.
But a few risked everything, including the lives of their families to save Jews. Some saved one some saved tens or hundreds or even thousands. Some lost their lives and even the lives of their families while saving Jews. They are all called in Israel “Righteous among the Nations”. They get special certificate, they get a tree planted on their name in Jerusalem but the real reword we believe would be the afterlife, there is a special place reserved for them.
There are about 28,000 of them. In the darkest time it is the minority who make the difference.

It’s true that Bulgaria saved its Jewish Citizens in an amazing historic mass saving despite it being allied with the Nazi Occupier. About 48,000 Jews were saved. It did not save the Jews of Bulgaria’s occupied parts.
About 11,343 Jews were rounded up by Bulgarian Authorities in Greek Thrace and Vardar Macedonia and sent to Death Camp Treblinka. Almost none survived.
But yes the Bulgarian people as a whole were extraordinary. ❤️
Hitler “gave” Greek Trace and Vardar Macedonia back to Bulgaria but Gestapo was calling the shots there unlike in Bulgaria proper. So the Bulgarian people and the government didn’t have any say there.
Also, the only other country in Europe that saved their Jews was Denmark. I believe around 8,000 people were saved.

I love the song “Tammy”. When I was little, my Mom and I went to the grocery store and she bought me a “super market doll”, small dolls sold at that time. We came home and she started fixing dinner and I was playing with my doll. The song “Tammy” came on the radio. Not only is it very pretty and moving, but for me evokes a warm and happy memory of my childhood.

I worked for the welfare dept in the mid 70s and we were required to go through their homes once a month searching for anything that could indicate a male lived there. If it was found they were terminated from welfare.

I had to call Sony yesterday for a CD player. I got an AI assistant, it seemed even worse if that is possible.
Once, I think it was AT&T customer service, I was speaking with someone with a thick accent, maybe it was Indonesian?, and heard a rooster crow in the background. Work from home, don’t you know!
My (former) website hosting company had all their customer service through chat. You couldn’t talk to anyone. The reason is that typing English is a better way to communicate than trying to make sense of strongly accented English. They were forced to go to chat communication only, because of thick accents.
We have no idea how much wealthier we would be as a nation if we employed our own fellow Americans.
Only two experiences during this Christmas/Holiday season.
Just wanted to add that things aren’t all bad even though I would prefer to know that more American workers had these jobs – and that they would take them.

COMMENTARY FOR. PHILIPPIANS 3
The apostle cautions the Philippians against judaizing false teachers, and renounces his own former privileges. (1-11) Expresses earnest desire to be found in Christ; also his pressing on toward perfection; and recommends his own example to other believers. (12-21)
(12-21) This simple dependence and earnestness of soul, were not mentioned as if the apostle had gained the prize, or were already made perfect in the Saviour’s likeness. He forgot the things which were behind, so as not to be content with past labours or present measures of grace. He reached forth, stretched himself forward towards his point; expressions showing great concern to become more and more like unto Christ. He who runs a race, must never stop short of the end, but press forward as fast as he can; so those who have heaven in their view, must still press forward to it, in holy desires and hopes, and constant endeavours. Eternal life is the gift of God, but it is in Christ Jesus; through his hand it must come to us, as it is procured for us by him. There is no getting to heaven as our home, but by Christ as our Way. True believers, in seeking this assurance, as well as to glorify him, will seek more nearly to resemble his sufferings and death, by dying to sin, and by crucifying the flesh with its affections and lusts. In these things there is a great difference among real Christians, but all know something of them. Believers make Christ all in all, and set their hearts upon another world.

After hearing the disputes about authorship of Paul’s Epistles, I always wonder where an epistle falls on the spectrum between all or none.
Especially when it is used to make a theological point.
Happily, Philippians falls in the group of seven that most scholars believe Paul wrote.
The mostly supported 7 are Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Philippians, Philemon, and 1 Thessalonians.
After that, there is a spectrum of declining acceptance of authorship by Paul with Hebrews taking the lowest spot, and most scholars agreeing that Paul did not write Hebrews.
Still, there are some who say none were written by Paul and dome who say all were written by Paul.
If you discard some Epistles, you can significantly change the theology. Which implies that adding them also significantly changed our theology.
Not that I am capable of settling the question.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Loving Lord, as the day is coming to an end, I want to thank You for being with me in all that has taken place today. I also want to lay the whole day before You, asking that you would show me if there is anything that I have done to hurt or harm another person unknowingly, or if I have done anything that is displeasing in Your sight, or quenched the work of the Spirit in me, so that I may turn away from such things in the days that lie ahead.
Lord, I desire to do Your will in all things. I pray that You would cleanse me of any wrong thoughts or attitudes that may have surfaced in my heart today. Wash me in Your cleansing flood, I pray.
Thank You, that You are a God who forgives our transgressions when we are willing to confess them to You, knowing that such cleansing before You immediately draws us back into sweet fellowship with Yourself.
Give me a good night’s rest I pray, and may I rest quietly in Your loving arms in the knowledge that in Christ, I am eternally secure, due to Your amazing grace, for which I praise You. In Jesus’ name,

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Good movie.
My Nephew brought a very special bottle of Bourbon to our family Christmas gathering.
He ordered it in October intending to bring it to the Thanksgiving family gathering but it wasn’t delivered until 5 days before Christmas.
