The Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) has released the November Consumer Price Index (CPI) [DATA HERE] showing the rate of inflation has dropped to 2.7% overall, with core inflation at 2.6%. This is a significant drop from expectations by financial pundits and pontificating economic media.
While the media proclaim, “inflation cooled unexpectedly,” the reality is that it’s not unexpected. The results of a slowing of price increase are not accidental; they are the result of Trump’s domestic economic policies working.
[Non-Paywall Source and Media Spin]
President Trump has been cutting waste, fraud and abuse in runaway government spending; slashing costly regulations across all sectors of the economy and ending Green New Scam energy policy in favor of drill, baby, drill. As noted by NEC Chairman Kevin Hasset, Trump has reduced deficit spending overall.
There’s still a long way to go, but significant MAGAnomic progress is being made. Oh, and that skyrocketing “tariff inflation” the same shocked pundits proclaimed was sure to happen this time, well, that has not surfaced either. Just like it didn’t surface in 2018 or 2019 when the tariffs were applied the first time.
NEW YORK – US inflation unexpectedly cooled in November – slowing its pace in the first report since September after a government shutdown disrupted data gathering.
The Consumer Price Index rose 2.7% in November over the past 12 months, down from 3% in September and below expectations of a 3.1% rise, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Thursday.
Core CPI – which excludes volatile food and energy prices – rose 2.6% over the same period, far below estimates of a 3% jump.
[…] “This report is clear: prices are steady and wages are beating inflation,” the White House Council of Economic Advisers said in a social media post, nodding to lower inflation rates on airfares and hotels. (read more)

Thanks primarily to the end of the war on fuel.
The price of Regular is now down to $2.69 per gallon here in Jacksonville Florida. It is $2.54 at Sams Club.
Whenever we can, my wife and fuel our cars with Kirkland gasoline in MA or CT. It is the BEST. Try it.
I’m there every weekend at Costco filling up.
So is everyone else. That line is rough.
Yesterday at Buccee’s in Athens, Alabama:
Regular @ $2.229/gal.
With Gas Buddy discount $2.199.
It is much better in RED states.
That is the difference.
No it ain’t better.
Very similar prices here in north central Maryland. From $2.63 to $2.79 in my zipcode, with $2.70 as the mean.
I obtained those prices from the Gas Buddy app on my iPhone just now.
Bought a pack of the ” I Did That” gas pump stickers with PDJT on them, be here tomorrow.
Just when the station employees got the last of the FJB ones cleaned off pumps. LOL.
Love it, Edink! It’s really a good way of getting the message out that the Dems and their feeble POS installed puppet really did F ALL of us over for their benefit and of course the R’s as well
Well we are awake now.
$2.28 in Cincinnati
$2.19 at Walmart today!
Not here in pa.
Please learn to be a better shopper. It is O.K. to bargain. Do a little haggling.
“Miss, I’m willing to pay a dollar a gallon on Pump #3.”
Gipper, I’ll try that line on my next fillup.
Investment in an ICE car near-future?
Catalytic converters?
Platinum & palladium prices have jumped.
Yup!
Canadian on the west coast of Canada here. I’m paying the equivalent of about $4 US per gallon here. 😡
Close to 5 cdn bucks a us gallon in parts of ontario.
Is that Oui Oui good or wee wee bad?
It’s still 3.49/gal for regular here in central PA.
Yep. PA humans pay an add on tax.
Yep, that old PA tag that read “Land Of High Taxes” is still valid. F’ers.
AND western pa as well Liz!
I’ve seen 2.45 in NE TN.
Everyone is quoting gas prices in their various states. Even here in deep blue Maryland I can get a gal for $2.69…but did anyone notice the video of Nick Reiner walking past a gas station just before murdering his parents? The gas station marque said $4.39!
That’s California for you!
My local Costco, in SoCal, has it at $4.75, Reg, and $5.09 premium.
*We’ve be warned it’s going up too – after Phillips 66 LA refinery ceased full production in October. They were responsible for 8% of all gas in Cali.
It’s like most of the rich people in California who can afford to pay a hundred bucks for a tank of gas, are living in big houseboats on an artificial lake…blissfully unaware that the dam is about to burst.
The few who see what’s coming have already left for Texas and Florida.
I live here and have been paying $4.69 for months. It’s now down to $4.29, still ridiculous.
Paid $1.89 at Costco in Fort Collins CO the other day 🙂
The left has nothing but excuses and lies….
They need to be crushed….
without mercy or remorse.
…so they never come back again
Retired, you are so right. The last three months on Twitter and Facebook, have been nothing but saturation bombing with visceral anti-Trump, anti-ICE, pro-Biden rants, memes, and bald faced, lying, and fabricated AI clips. As for the mainstream media, they cant be so careless anymore after Trump prevailed in his lawsuits against them.
All they’ve got in the rage department now is day-drinker James Carville.
The Communist un-humans, are in full panic. They know the tariffs are working, private sector growth is ticking up, gasoline is way down, and all of the bird-in-hand benefits of the BBB (no tax on tips, no overtime tax, major SS tax credits) are going to impact everyday citizens lives positively starting January, 2026.
They are trying desperately to stop or subvert what’s coming. I think Trumps speech last night was brilliant in the fact that it made his enemies in the national media block regular programing to cover it. All he did was confirm the accomplishments of his administration on their dime / time, when they were led to expect a declaration of war or worse.
Trolled again. HaHa.
The flak is always heaviest when you are over the target!
CNN described the speech as “blame-heavy.”
All the left has to do if they want to win on affordability is to release their plan to bring down prices so people can compare their plan to President Trump’s.
Yet while they criticize Trump they so far have released no plans to reduce inflation. Their only plan so far was Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act which even the liberals admit increased inflation.
I really don’t know why when Democrats appear on any networks and the hosts aren’t asking the Democrats for their plan to reduce inflation. Maybe because the Democrats have no plans to reduce inflation but a lot of plans to increase inflation?
Come on conservative news hosts, don’t let your Democrat pundits and politician guests off do easy.
lol…there are no real “conservative” news hosts that Democraps would be willing to risk talking to……
There’s you answer…..
They are COWARDS at heart….
SD thank you as always, for stating the obvious for us educated in the Treehouse patrons and non-pretending adults. Winning winning winning!
Still not tired of it. 😁
More! More! More!
Enjoy it while it lasts. Democrats fully intend to ride the GOP’s loss of independent and poor Republican voters who are waking up to find out they will get booted off of subsidized healthcare when they get sick and lose their jobs; and take back Congress.
My “free” ACA healthcare with a 10k deductible was just like not having insurance.
And who is paying for free? The taxpayers, that is you and me. How much healthcare will they get when the government defaults on interest and no one will buy government securities anymore (lend the government money)? Free can’t last forever.
You are making a moral and financial argument, the independent and poor Republican voters who voted straight tickets for the GOP in 2024 will be making an electoral one. The point being that you can be right and the Democrats defeat the razor thin Republican majority and take back Congress over the issue. There is no dichotomy. The margin is slim, so do you prune voters or expand voters? While, the GOP has chosen to do the former.
So you abandon your MAGA base to chase marginal votes-great strat
“A straw man fallacy occurs when someone misrepresents or distorts another person’s argument to make it easier to attack, rather than addressing the actual argument. This tactic creates the illusion of having refuted the original position while only engaging with a weaker version of it.”
So the needle only swings one way? There were many Kam voters who were there to put a woman in the WH. That’s off the ticket. When they cast their votes they were knee deep in inflation and a flooded border but because they wanted to make history they showed up and voted D.
It works both ways.
In my discussions with independent and Republican voters below the poverty level who voted a straight Republican ticket in 2024; they are going to simply not vote for either party over the healthcare threat to their lives and the lives of their family members. Margins are very tight in both the House and the Senate. It may work both ways in the sense that the Democrats will control Congress and a Republican will be President. We have not seen that since George W. Bush. We shall see what happens between now and 2026 and then 2028. Who knows what the future holds.
I got a Raise on my Social Security but my Medicare took it away.
Me also. The COLA should have been calculated after the Medicare robbery. At this rate should I be fortunate to live long enough I will get zero for SS. The government has this covered as I will die my way out.
Have your Medicare B deducted from you SS check. Will never go down to 0.
This always happens. Give em this, take that. Never get ahead on SS. Ever!
I’m actually making ten dollars less a month.
I got that Medicare hike too, but my social security income still increased.
Up until the mandatory enrollment was repealed I had the privilege of paying a fine every year sans one.
The repeal of mandatory is what is has the true colors of the scam showing, that’s one reason the “rats” want the subsidy to keep coming, hides the scam.
Most of the 18-40 are not under medical care. Employers will start to have to up their medical benefits.
The problem is the cost of healthcare. As long as we are talking about the cost of insurance things will just keep getting worse.
Some of the cost increase comes from the mandated coverages under the ACA. For example, plans for seniors also have to include pregnancy and maternity coverage, birth control coverage. And why are fitness services included in plans?
I’ve joined three free gyms, visited them each twice.
Health care is cheap, medical care is costly.
Never should have stopped.
Do you have a source for your statement? Aren’t 18-25 yr olds covered under parents? Under the U-ACA, cut off is age 26.
At 18 my kids were adults. I took each and every one to our insurance agent and THEY got their own car insurance. At 18, they were liabilities. If YOU want to support any “kids, basement dwellers” YOU can. My children, family and myself have no interest in subsidizing bad decisions to keep 26 year old “kids” on anybodys insurance.
You made your kids get health insurance at 18 when they could stay on yours until 26? Health insurance?
Car insurance, wrote buckwheat.
However, the issue of health insurance in the buckwheat household was not particularly clear.
Why are you attacking me? I said NOTHING about covering 25 year olds was what I wanted. I posted facts.
Get that chip off your shoulder before you post without reading.
You sound tainted…
Are you suggesting we continue down the road of complete disaster by continuing the policies of the left?
You haven’t gotten the program yet….
WAKE UP!
They may be paid, nor even an American citizen…
It’s a troll.
Obama care in its original form will still be available as an option to those who want it, but the subsidies to Obamacare will no longer be available.
The Republicans have passed a bill in the house that will save healthcare costs as much as approximately 11% or more and actually send money to individuals in a medical savings account as opposed to sending subsidies for Obamacare to insurance companies.
Only Enhanced Premium Tax Credits are being eliminated. Premium Tax Credits are still available for people whose income is less than 400% above the Poverty Level which is ~ $64K a year. A decent Health Insurance plan is going to cost about $1100 a month for a single person that is making more the 400% above the Poverty Level. This could definitely impact Republicans running in Swing Districts and States in the Mid Terms.
It’s not the poor who are losing subsidies. It’s those who make more than 400% of the poverty level who only qualified for a subsidy after the “temporary” Covid expansion was passed. Before that, these people were paying for their own high-deductible plans, which is just what they will be doing again.
The Premiums have gone way up since then. You are looking at $1100 per month for decent Health Insurance. It will definitely impact Republicans running in Swing Districts and States.
That’s why the democrats called in the “Affordable Care Act”. If they told the truth in 2009, no one would have voted for it. Same strategy they used to pass the “Inflation Reduction Act” in 2022. Democrats never come up with any knew ideas.
You can blame the republicans for a lot of crap, Lord know I do, but the democrats own Obamacare lot stock and barrel.
Unfortunately Republicans are taking a hit in current polling regarding Health Insurance. The Dems are hitting this one hard.
Seriously? The subsidy is $200 a month plus your contribution with a $8,000 deductible.. you do realize that’s $10,400 before you are covered for anything right.?
If you have savings it’s a least protection against a catastrophic event. For example, you get into a major car accident that requires a couple months in a hospital, plus a number of life saving operations.
Look up Health Share groups. The savings are incredible!
Do you have any experience with Health Share groups? They appear more risky than Health Insurance but I have no experience with them.
Yes , quite a bit. My group has saved me tens of thousands of dollars. I TOTALLY recommend it! The doc likes it because they pay much more quickly than the blues. My group has gone from 4,000 members to 50,000.
So how would a $200K hospital bill be handled?
They write a check to the hospital. No differences.
The socialists howl that millions and millions are going to die the moment their subsidies end, aided by loudmouths like Marjorie Traitor Cheney, but that is fearmongering nonsense. Fewer than 10M are enrolled in 0bama/McCainCare. The program is projected to cost about $1.6T IF the subsidies are extended. $1.6T to benefit somewhere around 5% of the population.
The GOP has fumbled health care as an issue since they betrayed the Tea Party hobbits and allowed the socialists to pass the Unaffordable Care Act bill to find out what’s in the bill, followed by cowardly McCain refusing to vote to defund it when they had a chance because the Orange Menace hurt his widdle feewings.
What they will do is find a really hard case, like some devout Christian 7-11 clerk with five kids with leukemia, and trumpet that as proof positive that PDJT47 wants all poor people to die and the only people that can save them are socialists who promise single payer govt healthcare. Never forget, that’s their goal.
(My numbers come from reading and research; they could be wildly off, but I don’t think so.)
Obamacare passed into law on a straight party vote. Zero Republicans voted for it. There were a couple of holdouts on the Dem side but they finally agreed to go along after Obama involved himself in the arm twisting.
Late at night on Christmas Eve, no less.
McStain
That guy was a good example of why a person with terminal brain cancer should never be allowed to persist in office and vote.
The traitor who cast the deciding vote. May God have mercy on his soul.
Maybe people will wake up and start taking care of themselves before bad things start. They will die anyway, with or without medical care.
If you have savings you need to protect against a catastrophic event. You could get in a major car accident that requires months in a hospital and numerous operations.
Just a helicopter air ambulance ride would wipe out plenty of people’s savings.
Retired Magistrate here: Even if you do take care of yourself, genetics play a role in what happens to you as you age. My parents both had cancer and heart disease, of course both smoked and I do not. However, they both had severe arthritis and I inherited that; not much I can do about that except keep moving.
When I was 50 I was diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease and not much I can do about that either except live with it. The rheumatologists wanted me to take prednisone; however, the side effects from that can be extremely dangerous.
So life goes on, and I thank GOD for the day that I have; that I was able to get out of bed, dress myself, cook breakfast for myself and my husband and put our table top Christmas tree up along with finishing touches on the rest of our Christmas decorations.
Everyday I walk outside, except when it is really, really cold, and enjoy GOD’s beautiful creation. Drinking green tea has helped a lot as well as drinking more water. Having a good attitude about life in general and being thankful for the blessings that my husband and I have keeps us young in heart, maybe not in body, but in the mind.
So, enjoy the day that you have because it might be your last on this earth.
I enjoy your posts. Merry Christmas.
Always good to hear from you, Marcia.
You are absolutely right with your comments and your life attitude is inspiring – so stay at it and never give up an inch of captured ground!
Marcia: I have had arthritis developing in my hands, particularly my thumbs. About two months ago, I bought a Hooga grounding mat and use it daily. Since then, I have had zero pain in my thumb joints. Research backs up this experience. Relatively inexpensive to try it.
I’ve been sleeping on a grounding mat across the middle of my bed for a year now for knee athritis. I am a side sleeper and sleep with my knees pulled up naturally. The matt hits my hips, knees, and ankles. I swear by it. It really brings inflammation down. No joint pains when I get out of bed in the morning.
I love it so much I even bought a small grounding mat to take with me if I travel. I don’t want to be without it.
You might try rubbing Vicks on arthritis areas. If in your feet, apply Vicks and wear socks overnight. Pain is gone in the morning!
Hi Marcia, good to see you here again.
You are correct in that sometimes we are subject to our genetics, regardless of healthy lifestyle. We do the best we can, with what we have and leave the rest to God.
As I mentioned above.
So the poverty level is now 64K a year? Are we talking about someone making 64 x 4 = $256,000 a year? At that level I think they should be able to afford 1100 a month for insurance.
I will not ever forget what Juan McStain did.
The Dims wrote the law (without any GOP votes) to end the subsidies on Dec 31st. Most of the lost jobs have come in the public sector. Get a clue
President Trump Won!
Gracias Dios
Only illegals & people who don’t qualify, will lose their ‘free’ health insurance.
Sure thing, Sparky.
Politico is wayyyy over there to the left:
<———<<<
Your concern is duly noted.
“booted off of subsidized healthcare“
lol! You are not paying attention. Trump has asked why do we collect taxes for subsidies to give to the insurance companies when we can give the money directly to the people to choose their own health care plans.
If the consumer gets to choose, the insurance company makes money by having the best value for the money as opposed to the best kickback to the congressmen.
Now that the subsidies have ended, the congressmen who don’t support Trump will get the FULL attention of those needing subsidies.
And… it makes skimming fraud from the big pots of money much, much harder.
How can this be!?/S
Prices can go up quickly almost across the board through democrat economics, but they must come down naturally over a longer period of time, which has to work its way out of the system.
It took nearly 2 full years for all the excess dollars to be flushed out of the economy during Reagan 1.0.
The socialists expected that the Schemer Shutdown would rally GOP RINOs and other traitors to vote for the 0bama/McCainCare subsidies and the additional spending would spike the rate.
What was unexpected was the reaction by the GOP.
Now, they are threatening Schemer Shutdown Part Deux in January to give their uniparty allies an opportunity to repent and vote the “right” way.
I cannot hate the media enough.
Keep trying!!
Sure you can, try harder, I did.
Now if we can get the CPI at a level before Biden became president maybe then I can afford to make a major purchase.
Most people do not realize that things are still expensive because of the 8% to 10% increase in CPI per year we experienced under Biden during his entire presidency.
How the dickens can we get consumer goods to cost us 25% less!
It’s not Biden’s fault that you cannot afford to make a major purchase. That stems from life choices.
Historic record inflation affected most.
Thousands of restaurants and Mom and Pop businesses closed.
A local Indian restaurant in Northern California has a monthly heating bill of $4,000.
It is Biden’s fault that all utilities are WAAAY up, along with the price of food. That eats into my monthly check amount which has stayed the same for years. You cannot do without utilities and food.
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Yes it is. I work in the retail food industry. PRICES have not gone down to preBiden term. Prices are relatively stable but they are still increasing in smaller increments.
FUDers hardest hit by signs of economic recovery. I seem to remember talk of an imminent recession by the brain box club who whiffed this prediction, like all the rest.
Example 1,598,832 of how the the media is our enemy
“Cooled unexpectedly” translation We did not find a way to spoil it in time
Deflation is a dirty word on Wall Street, banking, finance… everywhere except main street. Only on Wall Street is it considered a failure to pay less for a shirt or auto. Inflation provides a win-win for owners of assets:
increase asset valueservice debt with less valuable dollars
Deflation is a dirty word because it provides incentive to hold currency rather than consume or add to capital stock, resulting in decreased economic activity.
I think the FED should shoot for 0% inflation.
Even at 2% inflation the worth of your savings is cut in half in 36 years.
Make the word “Forecast” great again.
Seems the adviser by Wiles to wait on tariffs wasn’t as brilliant as she thought. Smack down baby, smack down.
Assuming the Dem Vanity Fair Wiles’ quotes are somewhat accurate, Wiles came off as a Moderate Dem, and not anything close to MAGA America First, which is very disturbing.
The least you could have done was to capitalize the first letter of the word “Jesus.” Of course, the best thing you could have done was not to use that holy name in such a casual meaningless manner.
Thank you Joan. Dont use his name in vain.
Good news is always “unexpected” when the analysis is done by liars in the media and their lying “experts.”
Sounds like more winning to me!
Just wait until President replaces the worthless Fed Chief with someone honest.
Keep the wins coming!
But I was told the tariffs would drive inflation up…
Not according to HUK..EEM JEFFERIES
“There’s still a long way to go, but significant MAGAnomic progress is being made. Oh, and that skyrocketing “tariff inflation” the same shocked pundits proclaimed was sure to happen this time, well, that has not surfaced either. Just like it didn’t surface in 2018 or 2019 when the tariffs were applied the first time.”
NOTE: Those tariffs that were applied in Trump’s first term were NEVER revoked, nixed or ended by Biden. Why were the MSM pundits not screaming about runaway inflation due to tariffs under the Biden regime? Do tell.
Re: high prices, inflation, affordability
Today’s lower inflation number is on top of the 2021-2024 higher prices from that era’s high inflation rate.
The accumulated higher prices over time – hurts the typical kitchen table economics.
It is real.
(while acknowledging that the escalation rate of prices has slowed in 2025, the real prices generally remained high in 2025)
People notice the accumulated:
-high credit card balances
-high prices from 5 years ago
-that it has been occurring and affecting people finances for over 4 years
Yes,
the Bran done higher prices on commodities, groceries are real – and they grew at high inflation rates for 4 years.
That does not disappear in the blink of an eye.
(and the media will harp about ‘affordability’ )
Although some tried to ignore higher and higher prices in 2021-2024,
and tried to ‘keep up with the jone’s’ (spending)
by eventually, quietly maxing out their credit card(s),
and are unable to pay off credit card balances because they grow at high interest rates (above 18% ).
Accrued personal Credit card debts are real high and those are very hard
to reduce, with day to day expenses.
(except for those that (miss) charge the government)
That problem is fixable over time with better economic policies.
But, like increasing the cattle herd numbers to eventually create more supply of beef and lower prices
that takes several years to get traction and to ‘see’ the results.
Elections happen faster ( every 2 years) than some results are realized.
In the meantime,
the 24/7/365 media will harp about high prices (yeah, bran done policies caused it but they will continue to try to stick it onto Trump ),
as a means to get people to be tricked into voting in way (dem) that would actually hurt their recovery, and send them deeper into debts.
That is in part, why Trump gave the nation a 10 minute speech on 12/17/2025,
to counter the media narrative.
( because of pattern recognition:
the media amplifies matters that could help dems
the media does Not amplify matters that could harm dems )
[ and many of the listeners believe what they hear and see at the kitchen table ]
It is good that there is an effort to counter the (dem) media narrative (s).
Seeking out and then sharing the truth,
is very, very worthwhile.
The Lord knows, that is often easier said, than done, but the efforts – with the help of many people – continues…
Love thy neighbors….
Inflation measures rate of increase of price changes. We are in disinflation, which is slowing of inflation.
What you are arguing is that we need deflation, but historically that happened only when consumers don’t have any buying power left, think “Great Depression” and we don’t want that.
Today’s report is still flawed because they are setting housing component to 0, for October, artificially. And that contributes 34% to the inflation rate calculation.
Lower inflation rate is good.
The leftover high credit card ( and other ) debts take a lot of belt tightening to retire
or if someone is stuck on keeping with the Jones
then it’s still more accumulated debts – which for kitchen table finances does help
( even though some have the desire to be perceived as though one can handle what ever, prior, higher costs – to keep up with the peers.)
A lot of debt needs to reduced by wiser saving / spending – and that takes years.
After the high inflation Carter late 70’s years, the accrued problem extended into the 80’s, ( Reagon ) there were a lot of people that had big financial problems for years ( a significant lag affect ) as an economic recovery began to get traction.
Inflation getting lower is good.
There are still accrued personal financial challenges ( debt$ to retire ) for many, many people.
The national debt ( also built up over years )
is no small problem either.
Imho
Now the media is saying the numbers are skewed due to the government shutdown and should not be taken seriously.
If that is the case, then why didn’t any of their “experts” talk about this possibility before these numbers ever came out? These people are a joke. And that’s an insult to jokes. I also don’t think they are actually people. Demons.
Economists are baffled. Doctors and scientists too!
Our media is such garbage.
People seem surprised when I tell them I don’t watch it nor am I on FakeBook.
Why bother when it’s all corrupt corporate media propaganda.
To eke out even small improvements, look at the massive efforts by the “Oppositions” POTUS Trump has to deal with Every day! Back-stabbing and lying Democrats, Hollywierd, University agendas, DEI-BLM-Antifa-Soros-LGBTQ+-MSM, immigration-deportation resistance, EU War Mongers, Islamic Wars in America, Drugs and Narcotics Trafficing, and more!
Now picture Newscum, Kamala, Walz, Crockett, Cortez, Schiff, or ANY Dem accomplishing a mere fraction of his work every day!
The Dems want suicide, we want to preserve!
even under trump, the govts inflation numbers are total bullshit. the price of a big mac is up 10% since last year. the cost of things that most people need to live is way up. might not be as bad as biden, but its still not good. imo, trump should go back and republish main street inflation (i.e housing, food, and energy) under biden and make the govt publish the number that actually effects most people.
The headline number is that experienced by “urban workers”. If that’s not you, you have to create your own index. That’s why Sundance in the past has broken out the number by category: food outside the home may be well above transportation costs for example.
The Fed uses its own inflation index, the PCE index.
BADDA BING. GO PRESIDENT TRUMP !!!
I wish Trump would have used some of that little fireside chat last night to explain that a lower rate of inflation is still inflation. Basing a lower rate of inflation on higher existing prices still is compound inflation.
If he wants to claim no inflation, he needs to define the point in time used for baseline.
People think that solving inflation means that prices actually drop. When overall prices don’t drop, the assumption will be that Trump is lying. He already speaks in superlatives. Since we like him, we shake off a lot of what he says. Other people who are not of the same mindset may end up trusting him even less.
I wish he had never mentioned the possibility of $2,000 checks from the tariff revenue. That money could be better put to work extinguishing some of the debt as bonds mature and are set to be rolled over. Trying to buy votes while the debt grows sounds underhanded.
Decreasing consumer demand by decreasing the number of of persons illegally present in the country should help too.
> Decreasing consumer demand by decreasing the number of of persons illegally present in the country should help too.
Indeed!
If all illegal “consumers” disappeared overnight:
Housing, food, and clothing would return to affordable immediately.
Hospitals, public spaces, classrooms, and traffic would no longer be wildly overcrowded.
Insurance and healthcare would return to affordable, not to mention almost every other commonplace product or service.
The crime level would drop like a stone.
It’s really too bad it can’t happen.
The point is – illegal immigration and those (Communists) who brought it about, have caused pretty much everything wrong in today’s America.
Yeah……most folks tend to equate lover inflation with lower prices overall. Not the case.
But what is the case is that lower inflation means that SOME prices are actually coming down, while others are not rising as fast.
Progress.
These little single digit numbers mean little when Obama/Biden inflation was 21%.
If the economic numbers are moving in the right direction they won’t suddenly stop and reverse, since the factors that caused the shift will necessarily accelerate, as the cumulative impact of policies adopted since day one increase. The only way you could destabilise the process is by manipulating outside events that directly impact those domestic policies., such as an overseas conflict causing uncertainty and raising the price of goods and services.
This is why Team Trump devoted considerable energy on foreign affairs, not because they were betraying the people who gave them their mandate, quite the opposite in fact. Each war, or conflict resolved, removed a DS tentacle from that lever of disruptive influence, and as the numbers decreased the central hub, Ukraine, could be tackled. Once this is over the momentum shifts decisively, which is why the European puppet governments are being used as proxies by the globalists, to try and continue their proxy fight with Russia. It quite literally is a hand up a puppet that’s itself is operating a puppet that’s playing with a puppet, so the easiest solution is to cut off the hand, not deal with each subterfuge as a separate entity.
The FUD’er strategy is part of a larger campaign, to establish the narrative of inevitable Democrat victory in 2026, because the DS knows all this and knows time is not on its side, hence the race to shape the political discourse. Today, that race became even harder for them to win, so look out for some distraction tactics to appease their mob of supporters, who are increasingly adopting direct action tactics which complicate the DS’s calculus and threaten their plans.
They excluded housing component from reporting, which was contributing 34% to the CPI.
So i wouldn’t trust the data this time around. While I think house prices and rent is plummeting, we need to see the levels
“Core CPI – which excludes volatile food and energy prices yada yada …”
“Volatile” is not a valid excuse for excluding them from the inflation index
It’s a reason for running them thru a smoothing average, a running average
Year over year calculations help. So would a 3-year look.
yes — any number of ways to construct a meaningful index
the main point is that something called the “consumer price index” should NOT exclude major components of the consumers’ expenditures
food – grocery and restaurants
fuel – running your car, heating your home (for many)
Agree, that is why thy also look at core vs non-core inflation index.
Housing component is always there, but for the month of October the decided to artificially set it to 0.
Here in Texas, gas is $2.329/gal. Not too bad.
Here in Hawaii, 93% ground beef is $6.00/lb in the military commissary (more in town). Not too good. Was looking at a prime rib for Christmas — $19/lb.
There is more to the story behind high beef prices.
The media-funded pundits are profoundly wrong much of the time…and yet they all keep their platforms to pontificate on the workings of our economy using economic models that do not work in the real world.
Without consequences for poor performance there is no accountability and without accountability these Pulitzer Prize-winning economists can continue to blow smoke up everyone’s collective asses as they’ve always done.
Smoke may cure hams but it won’t cure an ailing economy. That’s why I voted for Trump!
“Without consequences for poor performance there is no accountability and without accountability these Pulitzer Prize-winning economists can continue to blow smoke up everyone’s collective asses as they’ve always done.”
Lookin’ at you, Paul Krugman.
Honest to God, Paul Krugman was who I was thinking of when I wrote that!
These economic wizards are not the sharpest tools in the box are they? Everything is “unexpected” to them. They should go back to economics school or at least get a refund.
along with the lawyers they should eat a brick and jump off a cliff.
We have leadership , good leadership…good policy.
Classic liberal gaslighting. The man pulls the string and the dummies on the enemy MSM spew, I’m sure “Unexpectedly…” will be heard round the world with the Mockingbirds on the tube.
MAGA!
Kinda, sorta takes away Biden supporters’ argument that Trump hasn’t lowered the inflation rate.
It was also recently revealed that President Trump has removed 261,000 Federal employees?
That’s great, but I thought the number was much higher.
It seems like DOGE has died a quiet death, and POTUS still hasn’t had a rescission package for $220 Billion in permanent reductions. WHY THE DELAY??? Is Wiles also stopping that?
The death of DOGE and any follow-up is a sure sign that the waste, fraud, and abuse is bipartisan Uniparty endeavor.
Now, about groceries… a lb of ground chuck should not be $9. Butter shouldn’t be almost $6. Yes, eggs are under $3/dozen here in NE OH, but beef is still out of reach for many families, and chicken is still over $4.50/lb.
Heard a farmer on TV explaining that the high cost of beef in stores today is a direct result of the extremely high cost of diesel fuel while the cattle were being raised (Biden). The cattle’s food was delivered daily by vehicles using diesel. Costs had to be factored in. Diesel used to be cheaper than gas – not now.
Beef prices have risen because beef farmers have lost a huge % of their herds the last 2-3 years. Pure supply and demand at work.
I just paid $3.29 for a pound of Publix brand salted butter. And Publix is not known as a particularly budget grocer 🙂
As to chicken: again, at our local Publix, whole chickens tend to be well under $3 a pound, and sales on breasts and legs and thighs are common. I paid 3.39 pound for nice skinless breasts a couple days ago.
Just sayin…..
The cattle herd has begun to grow.
It is interesting that the demand for beef has stayed moderate to high,
even though the prices went up, a lot, in the past (and still high now).
Wow! Fellow Buckeye: move over here to NorthWEST Ohio!
Eggs for $1.75 a dozen now, Milk for $1.70 a gallon, Butter $2.99 a pound or less, Half a ham 79 ¢ a pound, Chicken Breast (Boneless Skinless) $2.49 a pound, Canned Vegetables 49¢ a can.
Prices have dropped consistently since February!
The difference between Toledo and Cleveland.

The St. Louis Fed publishes a a series of graphs showing inflation over a wide range of products. The universal direction since January 2025 is down.

It’s the mainstream media. They’re only calm when they’re eating glue and crayons.
Chicken prices have dropped 18% since summer.

Housing makes up a 1/3rd of inflation weighting and is a lagging metric. Housing costs are declining and if not lagging the reported inflation would be less that 2.0%. Housing costs drop by 1% for every million immigrants deported.
“As a result Trump, amongst other things, lowered the cost of energy.”
Maybe liquid fuels, but electric power price continues to increase.
Who owns your utility company??
Electric companies are regulated at the state level. Also, keep in mind how many generating plants have been shut down or have not been built due to “enviromental concerns” over the past 20 – 25 years.
MAGA FABULOUS!
Pass the Cheetos and Winnamins!
👊👊🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Propaganda from the mouthpiece of the Clowns In Action is expected
I took a test in grad school to see if I should seek a degree in Economics. Lots of math!
My scores were not high enough. Evidently there were too many figures
…that didn’t surprise me.
The devil comes to kill, steal and destroy and Barack Obiden came with him.
Their plan to destroy the economy was just a continuation of all their other flavors of Genocide.
Thank You, Lord, for a President who breathes Prosperity. He learned it from You!
Was there a complete Oct & Nov dataset?
Every time the economy improves with a republican President, it’s “unexpected.” I can’t find the ultimate description of how much liberals sicken me. Such petty lowlifes.
A few tentpoles of the Left’s narratives collapsed unexpectedly.
They were counting on the “tariffs cause inflation,” “bad Trump economy,” “crisis of affordability,” “healthcare costs will double” “widespread layoffs,” “ICE is deporting hardworking Americans,” “war crimes” package of lies to hold together for a few more months. They thought they could ride these fables into the midterms.
