Albert Kahn
(1869-1942)
American architect known as the “architect of Detroit”, dies at 73
Biography: Albert Kahn was an American industrial architect, best known for designing much of Detroit as well as several major industrial plant complexes. Most notably, Kahn designed the Ford River Rouge automobile complex, which at the time of its completion in 1928 was the largest integrated factory in the world.
After immigrating to the United States with his family in 1880, Kahn settled in Detroit. His career began as an apprentice at Mason and Rice, an architectural firm. By 1895, Kahn established his own practice, Albert Kahn Associates, where he emphasized the use of reinforced concrete in industrial buildings. This allowed for expansive interior spaces with abundant natural light, thus improving working conditions.
Kahn played a role in the growth of the automotive industry in Detroit through his architectural designs. He crafted facilities for the Packard Motor Car Company, and later, one of his most notable projects was for the Ford Motor Company. His work on the Highland Park Ford Plant in 1910 and the expansive River Rouge Complex in 1917 enabled the implementation of the assembly line production method.
His architectural expertise reached international soil when he aided the Soviet Union in the 1930s, aiding their first Five-Year Plan by designing over 500 industrial plants. Kahn’s firm grew to employ thousands, including notable individuals such as his brother Julius Kahn, a structural engineer who developed the Kahn System of reinforced concrete, and architect George D. Mason.
Kahn also contributed to various sectors beyond the industrial realm. He designed buildings for academic institutions like the University of Michigan, military installations during World War I, and numerous commercial and civic structures. His work, marked by practicality and the creative application of new building materials and techniques, has left a lasting mark on the field.
The firm he started, Albert Kahn Associates, endures to this day.

Biography: Meir was both Israel’s first and only female Prime Minister (1969-74), having been elected after serving as Minister of Labour (1949-56) and Foreign Minister (1956-66).
Described as the “Iron Lady” of Israeli politics, Meir was an active Zionist who was one of the signers of Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948.
Biography: Golda Meir was an Israeli politician who served as the fourth Prime Minister of Israel. Born Golda Mabovitch in Kyiv, in what is now Ukraine, she emigrated with her family to the United States in 1906, settling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Meir’s involvement in Zionist politics began in her youth and continued as she moved to Mandatory Palestine in 1921, where she became an active participant in the Zionist movement.
Golda Meir was one of the signatories of Israel’s Declaration of Independence in 1948, a pivotal moment in her long political career. Prior to her premiership, she held various key positions in Israel’s government. She served as Minister of Labour from 1949 to 1956, during which she played a significant role in the development of the newly established state, overseeing housing and infrastructure projects to accommodate the massive influx of Jewish immigrants.
In 1956, Meir became Israel’s Foreign Minister, a position she held until 1966. During her tenure, she was known for her efforts to build relations with newly independent African countries and for her role in covert operations, including Operation Moses, which brought Ethiopian Jews to Israel. As a politician Glenn served 4 terms as the Democratic Senator for Ohio and in 1984 ran for the Democratic nomination for President.
In 1998 Glen became the oldest person in space at 77 aboard the space shuttle Discovery.

This is from today’s European Conservative site. The article discusses problems within the French educational structure which is struggling to deal with dramatic changes brought on by the growth of non-French immigrants. I post these comments from the article because I think they also illuminate similar challenges to our own educational practices.
Teachers are, understandably, reluctant to draw attention to the fact that many new arrivals and even children whose families have been in the country for multiple generations are unwilling to integrate—thus feeding into a cycle that sees children continue to fail.
To make matters worse, this omertà is easily exploited by Islamists, who have a concerning and growing influence over the French education system. As the OID report notes, schools have become a “strategic target” for radicals to “impose their political and cultural codes, cultivate resentment among young people, and subvert society.”
A state-commissioned report on the Muslim Brotherhood earlier this year confirms this fear, warning that the movement is pursuing a long-term strategy of “entryism” into French society. Islamists use associations, mosques and schools to spread political Islam and undermine secular values. Education was identified as one of the priority fields, with dozens of establishments and networks flagged as being in its orbit.
Research suggests that these attitudes are becoming deeply embedded in younger generations. Among high school pupils, 65% of Muslims reportedly place the laws of their religion above the laws of the French Republic, compared with 30% of Catholics. Muslim children are also increasingly willing to prioritise religious explanations for the world over scientific ones. One recent survey shows that 81% of Muslims aged between 18 and 24 believe that “when religion and science disagree on the question of the creation of the world,” religion is “usually right.”
All this makes French schools a breeding ground for ethnic divisions and conflicts. A poll from earlier this year found that, among all pupils, 16% would refuse to form certain relationships with Jewish students. That number rises to 52% for children whose parents were born outside of Europe. Even more shockingly, 71% of students who had witnessed antisemitic violence and whose parents were born outside of Europe believed the violence to be a positive act.
That such views risk becoming normalised shows that France’s problems go far beyond just academic underachievement. A lack of proper integration threatens to destabilise French society.

You know I was thinking about Christmas and how so many no longer decorate the way they use too. And I thought boy has Satan done his job. This is pagan or that but if one person notices a star on a tree or house and asks why is it there, its worth the effort. If someone sees a nativity scene in a yard and asks the meaning, its worth it. If someone should ask why do we celebrate Christmas and we can explain, its worth it. Commercialism may have high jacked this blessed time of year but its because we have quit fighting. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good day.
We don’t decorate outside like we used to but inside it’s Christmas in about every room of the house.

Well it seems Buckley is not the bad ass boy he thinks he is.
I let him out into the dog run last night and he turned right around and came back in. When I looked out to why he was acting that way I saw there was a big ole possum right up next to the fence feeding on seed that had fallen to the ground from one of the feeders I have attached to the post of the fence. The possum was outside the chain link fence and Buckley was inside but Buckley obviously didn’t want anything to do with that possum.
We have three possums that stop by for a feed at night. Two full grown adults and one youngster that is probably a yearling being about 1/2 the size of the adults.

COMMENTARY FOR 1 JOHN 5
Brotherly love is the effect of the new birth, which makes obedience to all God’s commandments pleasant. (1-5) Reference to witnesses agreeing to prove that Jesus, the Son of God, is the true Messiah. (6-8) The satisfaction the believer has about Christ, and eternal life through him. (9-12) The assurance of God’s hearing and answering prayer. (13-17) The happy condition of true believers, and a charge to renounce all idolatry. (18-21)
13-17 Upon all this evidence, it is but right that we believe on the name of the Son of God. Believers have eternal life in the covenant of the gospel. Then let us thankfully receive the record of Scripture. Always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that our labour is not in vain in the Lord. The Lord Christ invites us to come to him in all circumstances, with our supplications and requests, notwithstanding the sin that besets us. Our prayers must always be offered in submission to the will of God. In some things they are speedily answered; in others they are granted in the best manner, though not as requested. We ought to pray for others, as well as for ourselves. There are sins that war against spiritual life in the soul, and the life above. We cannot pray that the sins of the impenitent and unbelieving should, while they are such, be forgiven them; or that mercy, which supposes the forgiveness of sins, should be granted to them, while they wilfully continue such. But we may pray for their repentance, for their being enriched with faith in Christ, and thereupon for all other saving mercies. We should pray for others, as well as for ourselves, beseeching the Lord to pardon and recover the fallen, as well as to relieve the tempted and afflicted. And let us be truly thankful that no sin, of which any one truly repents, is unto death.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
