A few months ago, Kroeger closed three long-time stores in my zip code. The theft was so blatant and rampant that the corporation decided it was less expensive to just shut down the stores. A Safeway near me has the ice cream pints locked up. You have to press a buzzer to get an employee to unlock the freezer door. When I asked why such an extreme measure, was told the store was losing $4000 of ice cream per month due to theft.
There are now security guards at the grocery store entrance, but … if you can make it past the guard and get out into the parking lot, apparently you’re home free (which proves your point…)

The local news today had video of “hungry” adults and children from rural Maryland who were lining up for hand-outs.
Everyone in the video – including the children – qualified as either obese or morbidly obese!
Some sad kids were easily 50 pounds overweight, rolls of fat showing through their shirts and spilling over their belts.
The adults were similar to worse: I had to wonder if the videographer was not subtly making a statement about his assignment to document “the hungry Americans.”
