The USDA has announced that all SNAP (food stamp) recipients will have to ‘REAPPLY’ in the future to secure benefits. A REAPPLICATION is different, and more thorough, than a RECERTIFICATION which SNAP recipients currently are supposed to do every 6 to 12 months. The reapplication is geared towards reducing fraud and abuse of the system.
Unfortunately, the USDA has yet to announce a timeline. Brooke Rollins, the Secretary of Agriculture, would be responsible for such an endeavor. I would like to add that this should have been a Day 1 activity (for Secretary Rollins) but that might get me into trouble here!

I grew up reading all the Dr. Seuss books that my Mom could find on her trips to Vroman’s (along with other books for herself and everyone else in the family). One great book is about a moose, “Thidwick” which I don’t think gets enough attention, what with “The Grinch” character and “Green Eggs and Ham” and “The Cat in the Hat”. Kind-hearted Thidwick gets really imposed upon as other critters accumulate on his antlers, to hitch a ride. I don’t want to spoil the ending for anyone if you never read it but as for myself, after reading that book, I denoted certain developments as “Thidwick moments” which I observed in my own life and in the world at large.

The Danish government has set up a “night watch” in the foreign ministry, not to keep out the wildlings and White Walkers like the Night’s Watch of Game of Thrones, but rather to monitor Donald Trump’s pronouncements and movements while Copenhagen sleeps.
The night watch starts at 5pm local time each day and at 7am a report is produced and distributed around the Danish government and relevant departments about what was said and took place, the Politiken newspaper reported.
The position is understood to have been introduced in the aftermath of the diplomatic row between Copenhagen and Washington over Greenland this spring, when the US president threatened to take control of the Arctic island.
Politiken said the initiative was one of several examples of how Danish diplomacy and the country’s civil service have had to adapt to the new reality of the second Trump administration.
A source close to the foreign office told the Guardian: “It is fair to say that the situation in Greenland and the time difference between Denmark and the United States was quite an important factor introducing this arrangement during the spring.”
Rather than everybody having to reach immediately for their phones to catch up on news from the US, the foreign office said it had instead made a “collective effort” to stay updated on Trump.
Jacob Kaarsbo, a former chief analyst at the Danish defence intelligence agency, said the development showed, “as we have always known”, that the idea that the US was Denmark’s largest and most important ally was dead. “Alliances are built on common values and a common threat perception,” Kaarsbo said. “Trump shares neither of those with us and I would argue he doesn’t share it with most Europeans.”

Ukraine’s chief negotiator, in an exclusive interview, says conceding sovereign territory is off-limits in peace talks.
Volodymyr Zelensky, in the next phase of talks to end the war in Ukraine, intends to draw a red line at the most contentious issue on the table: the Russian demand for Ukraine’s sovereign territory. As long as he remains the nation’s president, Zelensky will not agree to give up land in exchange for peace, Ukraine’s chief negotiator, Andriy Yermak, told me today in an exclusive interview.
“Not a single sane person today would sign a document to give up territory,” said Yermak, who has served as Zelensky’s chief of staff, lead negotiator, and closest aide throughout the full-scale war with Russia.
“As long as Zelensky is president, no one should count on us giving up territory. He will not sign away territory,” he told me by telephone from Kyiv. “The constitution prohibits this. Nobody can do that unless they want to go against the Ukrainian constitution and the Ukrainian people.”
On the question of land, Ukraine is prepared to discuss only where the line should be drawn to demarcate what the warring sides control. “All we can realistically talk about right now is really to define the line of contact,” Yermak said. “And that’s what we need to do.”

World Trade Center worker who narrowly escaped 9/11 is beaten to death by three teenagers, cops say
According to arrest report seen by the Daily Mail, Borkum, who was homeless at the time, was attacked by three teenagers on three separate occasions that night.
After the third violent attack, the teens are accused of fleeing the scene on foot with Borkum being found by a witness, he died four days later from his injuries.
Marcavion Lacey, 19, Robert Pope, 16, and Justin Curry, 13, have all been charged with his murder. According to the report Curry was 12 at the time of Borkum’s death.
An obituary for Borkum, who is originally from Long Island, New York, said he worked on the 77th floor of tower one in a consulting position.
It said he ‘narrowly escaped death’ after his job ended in July 2001, as all of his colleagues died in the attacks on the World Trade Center that September.
According to the report, Borkum was found with a ‘large amount of blood pooled near his head, with blood also trailing the sidewalk’ last month.
