We had adventures this Caturday morning and didn’t leave the property!! Praise The Almighty for lighting quick reactions BEFORE my first belt of organic light roast Ethiopian coffee (that I scored from a song!) I heard a cacophony outside, thought is was the Idahoan Transplant Neighbors bitin’ass pack(s) of “champion” Jack Russel Terriers had dug out of their enclosure again and found a neighborhood rooster for a good ol fashioned mauling.
It wasn’t until the howling started that I realized it was coyotes celebrating a kill about half a football field away in the inky early morning dark.
My mind jumped to jinxys shorter than expected legs which would not outrun wiry, mangy vagabonds. This is war, Sis.
Oh geeeeee!!! There is nothing that can make you jump like sudden animal sounds. I’ve been awakened many times in Wales by them. Also before coffee, though mine has been just run of the mill stuff (well done on your find ☕👍🏻) We’ve got coyotes in our neck of a civilization which has slowly pushed them out of theirs. I’m so glad it wasn’t Jinxy….
Our Jack Russell, Penny, wasn’t a “champion” breeding wise. She was the runt of her litter who was the first to make a fuss of my husband and so came home with him immediately. Gentle and loving all her days. She thought she was a cat I think, we had so many. She was a “champion” to us, and we miss her still 💔
Dadgummit, that’s the second excellent comment I’ve had evaporate this morning. Oh well . Not all Jacks are mean, just these that took a few chunks out of yours truly when I was trying to advise my neighbor on a blackberry hedgerow. 98% of dogs love me. Somehow I always end up on the wrong end of that pesky 2 %.
I do think that while all breeds have their characteristics and quirks, owners can play a big part in behaviour. Animal lover as I know you are, can’t imagine any taking a dislike to you 😘

there are bad apples of any breed. And more importantly, bad owners. Jacks are waaay too smart and predatory to have running around in barely supervised packs of eight or nine.
And these come from Californian “Best In Show” type people so Lord-Knows-What kind of genetics we are dealing with here..
That’s the thing about breeding. Too much. It’s why we have dogs which have so many physical problems. My sis in law’s carriage driving partner judged at Crufts in the UK and is quite outspoken about this. Jack Russell are excellent ratters and were bred for it. Little dynamos. Penny was an exception…and being British, oh my, she loved her tea. We always left some for her in our morning cups. Her pointed snout allowed her to get ever last drop.
Pitties are labeled “dangerous dogs” in the UK and banned. I wouldn’t have one, especially if I had small children. But having said that, those who love and own them do say they are sweet…
And rightly as you say, owners can be the biggest culprits…too many bad owners…special place somewhere hot for the worst.

Yesterday, this bad boy, Zane Grey, disappeared for 4 hours. He is the only one of our 8 kitties allowed outside, but that is just with us to go feed burros each morning and then back in. He somehow wandered off and had us searching the desert, tromping through pastures, washes etc: calling till we were hoarse. A lot of prayers and some tears later, he waltzed up with his chirpy little meow.
There are so many coyotes, hawks, javelina, even a mountain lion or two, around here, it’s hard not to fear the worst.

We didn’t have predatory animals. Nevertheless, the stories I made up and the tears…showed up after a week when we decided we’d never see him again (which actually happened to two of our many…half feral Polly and her paramour, the father of her litter and brazen taste tester of the best cheesecake I ever made, Buster).
But here he came, like your Zane…None the worse for wear but hungry, chipper, and bouncing.

Says we could get up to an inch of snow here Monday at my central Indiana home. Won’t stick long though since the ground and road surfaces are still too warm.
I have having two different peacocks come by and feed on the seed and cord I put out for birds and critters. Those birds are two of several that got away from some place around here early in the summer and I’m wondering if they can survive the winter since their native to tropical environments. I suspect this winter here will see some of the coldest days we’ve had in a while. Last winter we had one day of subzero temps and that was the first time we had that in several winters. I suspect this winter will be significantly colder than last.
I also have two possums that are regulars stopping by to feed around midnight every night.
We’re going to need a lot of snow because this part of Indiana is running at more than a 6″ deficit precipitation.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

A Norwegian born expressionist painter, Edvard Munch lived a tumultuous life, which was represented in his paintings. As a child, he was often ill in the winter, and kept out of school. To pass the time, he spent his days drawing. He also had a troubled childhood, as his mother died of tuberculosis after the birth of his youngest sister, and his favorite sister died of the same illness nine years later. His father was also a bit of a religious fanatic, who would read Edvard and his sisters ghost stories and the stories of Edgar Allen Poe. The vivid ghastly tales, combined with his poor health, the young Munch was plagued by nightmares and paranoid visions of death, which he would later incorporate into his artwork.

The Supreme Court sided with President Trump regarding not issuing SNAP benefits.
However sideshow Bob Ferguson Governor of Washington State ordered full issuance of SNAP food assistance on Thursday, November 6th, 2025.
In addition people on SSI had some workers issue cash assistance so they could use it for food.
Washington State needs a through Audit.
My younger graduated from high school here (parochial). I have seen the textbooks they use for math. The kids are supposed to do the problems and check the odd ones in the back of the book. When our kid was having difficultly understanding algebra (7th grade), hubby and I started doing the problems also. Roughly 1/3rd of the ‘answers’ in the back were incorrect (we have both completed college calculus). The teacher had been using the curriculum for years and did not know. When our kid got answers ‘wrong’, we verified and sent the teacher the work so he could correct the teacher’s version.
The kids are also taught common core, and are not memorizing anything useful. We weren’t letting our kid use a programmable calculator, which the other kids were using. Typically took him 2 hours to do 50 algebra problems that the other kids were doing in half an hour by just entering numbers and letting the calculator do the work (don’t show your work, just the answer). I tutored a 7th grader who knew no math facts because his school let the kids use a calculator for the easy stuff starting at the beginning of 2nd grade.
And the word problems: the PhD’s writing the books deliberately ensured the kids have no concept of accounting. The rest of the class learned from the text that the base price of an item or group of items sold should be referred to as the ‘fixed cost’ and the amount to be charged for any items any additional would be the ‘variable cost.’ Unspoken part of the math problem: profit is not allowed.
Washington needs an audit by people who learned math and accounting from non-communists.

Menagerie, I wanted to share with you that I entered a fall coloring contest at the rehab facility where I currently reside. I chose a pumpkin as one of my 3 allotted entrant pictures. I channeled my inner Connor and took 3rd place on it.
I also took 1st & 2nd on my neon painted haunted house. I channeled Connor on it too.

Thanks Mo for the kind words of encouragement. This is from health issues diagnosed after a hospitalization in February thanks to that kind gift from China called COVID. I could say long term care and rehab, but I am also working on my discharge plans.
