Yesterday we drove to Detroit for a morning concert by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. As soon as crossed the border by Toledo, we entered a realm called Planet Marijuana.
Billboards from several Marijuana companies (one called House of Dank, than which a more appropriate name for a marijuana hawker can hardly be found, as the drug makes not only one’s mouth smell like a garbage dump, but also turns the lungs and brain into dark, mildewed basements) appeared every few miles.
30 years ago, there was an “Outlet Mall” at this spot, where one could buy clothing, shoes, kitchen appliances, designer brands, etc.
Half of the place is now full of Marijuana purveyors, over a dozen or so, and the parking lots in front of each one were jammed at 9:30 in the morning!
These places are c. 10 miles into Monroe County, Michigan.
At the nearby gas station/convenience store, (which is why we stopped at this area to begin with) where Mrs. Ausonius bought some pop for us, a stinking, slurry-talking 40-something character with whiskers and plaid said to the Indian cashier: “Uh, yeah, git me some o’ dem rollin’ papers…’n’, uh, yeah, some o’ dem lot’ry cards!”
We had some extra time, so we drove deeper into Monroe County and found more Marijuana stores away from I-75 – and again, each store was jammed with customers before 10:00 A.M.
Appalled by the experience, I theorized that true Conservatives would not be found among the people crowding those stores.
Mrs. Ausonius was not sure, but did not want to stay in the area, as driving among the customers of such places would possibly be dangerous.
“Legalized Marijuana” campaigns have been remarkably successful across the country, with politicians willing to tax it and billionaire companies drooling to make money from the sales, and people convincing themselves that the drug is fairly benign in its effects.
If most of these customers are DEM voters, or non-voters, author Brandon Smith’s conclusion in his essay above may not be wrong about what would happen in a Second Civil War:
“…It’s hard to say what the end result will be, but I’m finding it difficult to see an outcome that doesn’t include considerable conflict and, unfortunately, bloodshed. And, to be frank, most of it is likely to befall the leftist side. For the sake of their own self preservation, I hope they realize they’re only being used to further an agenda, and their gatekeepers don’t actually care what happens to them in the end.”
He does not explain why most of the bloodshed would be from the Leftists.
But I suspect it will come from their being unable to think straight – or run or hide properly – because of their drug-addled brains, and from Conservatives knowing how to handle weapons in a crisis.
And Bjork Dream’s fear that America is killing itself?
To the burden of dealing with other addicts (e.g. alcoholics and illegal drug users), it seems we are fertilizing the use of Marijuana to add to the physical, psychological, and spiritual burdens already plaguing us.
Can President TRUMP’S dream of a Golden Age come to fruition with such a percentage of the population dragging America downward not just with their substance abuse addiction…
…but with their addiction to government hand-outs?
That may be the worst addiction of all!
Only if “our” government had policies over the decades that made for a prosperous society. Instead we have a government that is corrupt beyond comprehension. A government with evil intent that has made getting ahead impossible and falling behind a constant state of being. We have part of our citizenry in a constant state of despair with their only relief … getting high. This is where the blame lies…the government and those that are running it.
Blame the government?
There have been hard times for decades, most of us get an extra job to feed our families, we are not victims as God has enabled us to draw strength from Him.
There are numerous treatment options for the addicted.
Help them get help and then pray.

I put weed in the same category as alcohol. There are liquor stores everywhere too, and they usually have people lining up.
Drinking too much, or some even say at all isn’t best for your faculties and health. Neither is smoking pot.
Bad areas will usually be covered in liquor stores, nail salons, and fast food. Same-same to me if some of those stores are selling pot instead of booze.
Teach your kids to stay on track and stay away from both!

See my post above. It’s not the same. Where I live weed is legal and people are freely smoking it in public. Also when driving. I can smell it from cars parked next to me at stop signs. This is especially prevalent by the Black community.
They can’t kill ’em with abortions so they just let gangs kill ’em now.
I have a grocery store near me with a wine/beer bar in it and they allow their patrons to drink while grocery shopping and this is in a very Red county in NC. Good luck with the wino soccer moms. This store is where they all shop in my area.
Has there been any SUI incidents where shoppers rammed into each other head on? How about aisle rage where a drunken shopper stalks and intimidates other cart users? Has the store added horns to carts to alert others of making wrong turns, blocking the aisles, going too fast or too slow?
Our Whole Foods in our red state, had a bar. Until the plandemic..

The difference is that weed intoxication is not enforced. I smell it coming from cars on the road and they are not being stopped. It’s being freely smoked in the public. At least this is the case where I live. I was hit by a car full of weed smokers. The driver was not charged with weed intoxication!
Just remember how they SCREAMED about tobacco cigarettes! Blocking cigarette smokers from entire city blocks!

What you state is IMO a western societal issue.
Nearly the exact scenarios play out in our hometown in British Columbia.
We used to witness this in Washington State on our weekly or so visits to buy gas.
Down here in Palm Springs the disconnect from reality is something to behold.
There were massive parties over the Halloween weekend, and a particular community was spending money and many were driving around in “ flash cars “ with delight.
A few blocks west towards the mountain the apparent wealth on view was everywhere.
A Private golf course an exclusive tennis club etc.
Then south on our walk, the desperation was evident..the sickly stench of pot,, numerous truly homeless, obviously seriously hard drug addicted and mentally ill folks sat or wandered in a stupor.
Many of us have observed a gradual erosion of decency..it is certainly spreading…
What is Gods plan?

Have always been obsessed with Palm Springs –well at least the Springs of the past–love the mid century houses and the lush lush vegetation/plantings. Would have loved to be there when Frank and Bob were there! Now it is majority LGBTQ and all the depravity ,debauchery and despondency that lifestyle brings.
We have been traveling down from British Columbia since the eighties.
This may be our last trip..
The town has no soul..

You are quite right! Eventually something will collapse: perhaps if government hand-outs are reduced, the ability to buy booze and brain-bombs will prevent at least some people from ruining their lives.
Re-opening mental hospitals for the truly incompetent would also make the cities safer and cleaner! As has been noticed and proven, right now they often “self-medicate” with alcohol and marijuana and other such things.
A Christian Renaissance is certainly needed as well!

I agree, but they must be operated more competently and humanely than our nursing homes. I do not know the answer to that unless we do have a massive Christian revival in this country.

I’ve first hand experience in the Mental Hospitals. Not really a hospital for healing… Some of the residents come from good families and have brain malfunctions. Recent revelations make me wonder if vaccine injury and/or demon possession is the root affliction for some.

I don’t think you understand that whatever is going on with the pot, a single vape (maybe laced with pesticides or maybe just super high 90 percent TCH) can destroy a high performing, promising college junior’s brain and put him on an Alzheimer’s unit with permanent brain damage, for life. No one has any idea what lurks in a vape cartridge. Known and unknown narcotics/ experimental chemicals from CCP chemists are the norm. No one knows what those vape cartridge components are made of either. The growing techniques such as LED lights that run cooler and can be placed closed to the plants have caused them to mutate. Hybridization does not help nor do microplastics from growing containers and from bottles of liquid fertilizer aren’t good. My daughter was told the same thing her freshman year at University of South Carolina. Praise God she graduated and still kept her faith and conservative ideas.
I am quite familiar before and after the legalization of the “ pot industry” oddly I have never smoked the stuff nor taken it in any form.
Booze was my drug, hasn’t been for many days now.
Grower’s we knew pre legalization would often “ lace” the weed the grew with “ crystal” the youngsters at the schools only wanted their stuff..one wonders why.
Upon legalization many “ legit growers” spent millions here in British Columbia building incredible production greenhouse facilities.
The last one was sold several years back to a tomato grower for we are told 10 cents on the dollar.
Folks prefer buying the untaxed, higher strength pot at the local Indian Reserve or at the local pot shop if they can’t get to the reserve.

I was reminded of a National Geographic report about Russia in the 1990’s, after the Fall of Communism.
A Russian official said that Russia would suffer the terrible effects of Communism for decades, among those effects was widespread Alcoholism.
Life under Communism was so awful and hopeless that escaping “into the bottle” was too often the “solution” to surviving under Communist rule.
The official said that at any given time in Russia…half the population was drunk or not completely sober!
The official lamented that Russia (at that time) had no plans for dealing with the problem.
And so…given that Life in America is not close at all to Life in Communist Russia, what is causing the suicide and substance abuse problems?
I wonder: is it because people believe the agitprop from Communist DEMS that Life here really is full of hatred, bigotry, racism, capitalist oppression, etc. etc. etc. ?

They broke the contract. If you are a middle-class kid, upper or lower, and you care about school, get good grades, and are a nice person in your community and stay out of trouble, you will no longer:

Get a job out of college: see the above. “No, no… we don’t have anything for you… these jobs go to non-whites and immigrants with $! and connected parents/racial NGOs”
Get a wife & have some kids: Women basically hate men in America now, and aren’t offering anything even close to being a wife and child carer. Large amounts of young women are only offering to suck your financial resources dry, while never being satisfied with anything and always demanding they do less and you do more (because anything they do is SOOOO HARD and SOOO IMPORTANT. Until the borders are sealed and the cartels are liquidated, and there are well established laws around the provision of informed consent, and vapes are outlawed as unreasonably risky to human health, and we establish a clear legal the right to sue and recover damages from dispensaries for providing a medical product but failing to vet their customers for vulnerabilities to harms like mixing pot with psychotropic meds (sales that should be illegal), just like we can sue doctors for medical malpractice, how about we take a pause?
You can grow your own, smoke your own. Fine. Selling it and ruining a 19 year old’s life, putting him on the public dole in a long term care facility at taxpayer expense for the next 60 years, not fine.
And I’ll add this much. In my tour of various Chinese cities, I saw not one homeless person on the streets, much less a homeless drug addict. There are no pot dispensaries. There are not, as far as I could see, really any liquor stores either. The only addictive product I saw being used was cigarettes among some very lower class cab drivers.
Their streets are completely safe.
That’s probably because China executes drug dealers, and probably drug users too, because it is a collectivist society.
I’m not endorsing killing drug users. I am, however, A OK with executing drug dealers at three strikes, here’s your firing squad. You kill or permanently disable people by selling them drugs you know puts them in the way of bodily harm, you die. Thou shalt not suffer a murderer to live.
Bottom line: when the Chinese looked at our society, all they saw was a soft underbelly and corruption. And they attacked.

So, the topic of the day is not only the generations who have learned only entitlement, but the masses who support this system. Every one of them believes that Jesus did not say, “Give to every one who asks,” but that he said “Go, petition your government to take from anyone who has more than you, to redistribute to your satisfaction.” (How dare the Republicans limit SNAP etc. to minimize fraud? How DARE they!!!! How un-Christian!) To even question whether mass nanny-state is the appropriate role of government is anathema! (It’s not.)
Giving from your heart? Your own personal heart, your own personal giving from your own assets? Not a thing.
This mindset is waaaaaay bigger than those who benefit from the system; it’s everyone who has been indoctrinated that this is how a Christian nation behaves.

Coming from a recently retired Detroit health care worker, I often complained to higher ups regarding employees reeking of weed both inside hospital and in employee parking structure. Their response was 🤷♀️

Because the patient had died while my doctor friend was simply present on that floor, he was being accused of malpractice!!!
And so, my friend had to hire a lawyer and spend thousands of dollars to have his name removed from the lawsuit!!!
He wanted to counter-sue the family, their lawyers, and the judge, to cover his legal fees and lost time (yes, he had to appear in court) but was advised that he would probably lose!
This is just one reason why malpractice insurance and health costs are so high: the costs of such idiocy get passed along to the rest of us!

In the body of the story the polls state that 55%, of those polled, believe the story bi-line above to be true with democrats being the majority of those inclined to agree that violence CAN BE JUSTIFIED. No matter if the numbers are right or not, this is a strong indicator of sentiment and which party is all in on the violence. More disturbing is the fact that this indicates the SUCCESS that the democrat party leadership, politicians and celebrity supporters are having in indoctrinating their lemming followers to accept violence as the solution.
It was also noticeably absent that the public encouragement to commit violence was coming from the Marxist-democrat party supporters and members.
It was also noticeably absent from the the article the breakdown percentages of those making up the group that believed violence can be justified … i.e. the article did not expose that the democrat majority among those supporting violence was massive.

Democrats shut down the government because they hate President Trump and want to waste more of YOUR dollars after putting the nation on the path for an unsustainable $38 trillion in debt. Any new continuing resolution must extend past January 15 to avoid a Christmas omnibus loaded with earmarks. My friends in the House want to extend a CR at least until March 31. Any spending bills we eventually pass should be closely aligned with the president’s proposed budget to deliver for the American people and bring fiscal sanity back to the nation.
