There are still a lot of “radioactive things” which the US Government has never admitted to.
However, even in our nearby city of Chattanooga, Tennessee (for example …), there are many “Superfund sites” which are chock-full of hazardous industrial waste that the past generations of “industrialists” never cared about. For example, foundries poured tons of materials “into Chattanooga Creek” and forgot about them. Until Superfund discovered hundreds of feet of the stuff, and never actually managed to remove it all.
No, none of it was “radioactive.” But, only a fool would ever eat a fish from there.
Apartment complexes and “from the $200 thousands” housing communities are now being built over plenty of other such “sites,” and no one is advising the property owners of anything.

For myself – the STATES should provide the funding with the expectation that they will later be reimbursed for all LEGAL recipients.
In my local area the food pantries at churches and non-profits have been preparing since the government first shutdown to help ensure that American citizens don’t starve.

For example, I have a honor pass to get into Arlington National Cemetery due to having multiple family members buried there. I’m also a veteran and have others I know buried there.
Yet – I can’t use the pass to drive onto the grounds or even be in the car of someone driving onto the grounds of the cemetery due to not being willing to bow down and get one of their BS IDs. However, there is a minuscule amount of awareness on the part of the government, as they still do allow those without to WALK into the cemetery and walk the grounds to pay our respects as they at least have an inkling of what would happen if they banned us completely. It still is a highly aggravating situation that is greatly disrespectful…
I recommend a sanity check for the Daily Caller “journalists”. The Trump signs are all down in our neighborhood, and a Democrat recently won the Mayor race for the first time ever.

I concur with your thought Bessie and also pray that cures are found, but remain extremely skeptical of cures as the tendencies of big pharma is to create “treatments” that cost vast sums of money and often don’t actually provide a cure.
It’s especially galling as so much of the research is government funded and/or funded by non-profits through citizen donations and with all of the money that has been spent, cures should have long ago been created (and likely were in many cases, but held back because it wasn’t profitable in the long term).

As Daylight Savings Time has once again ended, giving way to Standard Time, some want to make it permanent. There is a suggestion that we should all feel good about helping save energy by setting the clocks ahead an hour.
Benjamin Franklin suggested it first, because: “Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise!” Supposedly, we will look at the clock and see it is time to save a candle. Daylight savings time was also adopted during the two World Wars, hoping to save energy. Doing something and knowing not the effect was considered better than doing nothing and being certain of it.
Spring forward and Fall back. It is a gimmicky ritual that may achieve nothing. There is no evidence Daylight Savings Time accomplishes anything. I rise to defend Standard Time. Let’s preserve and keep it.
I entirely agree. I lived for many years in a state, Arizona, which ignored the whole thing. We no longer live in the age of “candles.” Scrap it.
Lesser point: The ending-date of this contretemps has been moved far too late in the year, leaving schoolchildren waiting for their school buses in the dark.
The fall back date was moved this late in the year…because the previous fall back date was in late October…and many folks were of the opinion that it made little sense to move the clocks back right before Halloween…then the kids are trick or treating in the dark…so many parents supported moving the fall back date to after Halloween…which is where it now stands…the first Sunday in November.
That’s as ridiculous of a reason as I’ve heard yet for the insanity of changing the clocks (IMO).
When I was a kid we WAITED until it was dark to go trick or treating – it made it that much more fun.
Never said it was why the clocks were turned back ab initio…what I said was the reason the clocks don’t fall back until the first weekend in November.

There is a vast difference between reasonably protecting ones children and being absurd, while also allowing them to enjoy themselves on occasion.
If they’re concerned they can accompany them, which is what I did.
In today’s world, accompanying them goes without question, preferably by the father staying at all times between the children and the road, as well as staying near the road (thus while being very protective, also allowing them to to have their night without undo interference).

Rural citizens, many of whom farm but also hold down other employment for medical and retirement benefits as well as to supplement the farming income, rely on daylight hours to do farm chores. But I suppose that is why God invented flashlights.

In fact, one study indicated prisoners who were to be sentenced on spring forward Monday got harsher sentences.
Another indicated more traffic accidents occurred on the days following the change. Then there’s our circadian rhythm shot to boot.
