Like Billy Graham said, with all the love and comfort and joy they bring us, I can not imagine God not providing a permanent place for them to reunite with us.

Still unable to find homes for Momma cat and her one daughter, so I continue to have four cats here at home. The three kittens are still flying projectiles, especially in the morning when I get up! I remain alert so as not to trip over one as they have started rubbing around my ankles in the morning.
They still try to get into my bedroom to wreck havoc. I grow orchids in my bedroom and I do not want them to chew on the plants and the airy roots, as I am quite proud when they bloom for me every year around December. They sit in an East facing window and I mist them frequently. It appears to be a perfect place for them to thrive.
I am constantly putting them back out into the hallway. I think it is a game with them, to see if they can get away with it or not.

Coincidentally, or probably not, I ran across a small bit of information that a vitamin B deficiency (in general) can often be the cause. For whatever help that may be, amongst all the other loving advice offered, I will leave that for you, dear friend. Sending beaucoup hugs …and prayers….back north your way.
Nearing the end of October, it’s hard to believe. All the tiny birds which decorated our backyard throughout the summer have gone. And the prodigious numbers of squirrels seem to be collecting the bountiful acorns for storage somewhere. Since I feed them all, Chez Jones’ “cafe” is feeling quiet and empty now. Such are the seasons…a time to draw in. Take care, dear lady, and watch your step please.

Good afternoon Betsy. Beau is getting used to the kittens and yes, he has resigned himself they are part of the household.
In August I had my wellness checkup with my General Practioner. At my reuest, he checked my mineral and vitamin count with blood work. No deficiencies were found. I have been taking a B12 supplement for years along with the multivitamin and extra C, D3 and zinc. I told JWoo that I truly believe it is a type of neuropathy from the stroke March 2024 and the trauma of breaking my hip in April 2024. My researching indicated that stroke and trauma were listed as possible causes of the burning mouth and taste problems.
Also Alleycat recommended a book that I will look for.
I still have a lot of birds around, but part of my property is woods, and I also feed the birds 365 days a year and not just during Autumn and Winter. I’ve lots of Oaks, so the squirrels are gathering the acorns here right now.
I am enjoying this cooler weather and it looks like we may get some more rain this weekend. In fact they have issued a flood watch for 24 Texas counties, mine included.
Praying our weather does not get too awful, but we sure could use the rain. Blessings to you and your family.

Good morning , dearest Corny 😘☕🍁 I was so excited to learn what I was seeing in so many videos had a name. I knew there had to be one to describe what I was seeing. And it all makes sense to me.
One in particular I saw was of a piece of food dropped on a pavement, whereupon a little mouse emerged from his hiding place in a sewer opening and headed straight for it…
In the meantime, a crow who had also seen this food was quicker and flew straight to it. The mouse stopped and headed back.
But this crow had seen him, too. He tore off a piece and hopped over to the opening and dropped his offering, then returned to his meal. The tiny mouse reemerged to have his breakfast so beautifully delivered to him.
On having seen that, I knew God in His heaven is a provider for every creature He created. Life affirming and beautiful.

😢 This one really got me, Bets. We have slews of crows – a murder, so to speak! As we speak they are “stealing” our pecans. Truth be told, we no longer have the energy or health to harvest ourselves.
And…….it makes us happy to hear their actually joyful voices.
I am now reading 2 books regarding their empathy, intelligence, and allegiance. They mate for life. They decide if they like people or not, and act accordingly.
We must have passed muster, because they keep growing in number: and so far – no dive bombing!
We have crows as well!! Smart they are…
We, too, went through the “interview” process and were found acceptable. So the food I lit out for one and all…birds and squirrels…they like as well. When it is all gone and they arrive, they call. That’s my signal to replenish. After I throw it on the ground, these crows don’t wait half a second before they come down and feed. I’m not a foot from them. An. Immense amount of satisfaction in that.
I hear you loudly and clearly, sis. Aging is a bummer. I wish we had pecans I stead of acorns. I’ve never seen such a crop as this year, and they seem to have dropped earlier than I can ever remember. Our squirrels seem to prefer those still attached, and the ones off our Mexican pin oak rather than off the ole common oaks in the back.
The good Lord does provide,and I am only too glad to let all those He provides for pick and choose…as I know you are, dear friend.
(It’s the mockingbirds here which are our dive bombers. Their songs are many, various, and beautiful. But for some reason this year we have neither seen nor heard a single one I am very sorry to say 😔 Maybe next year…🙏🏻)

One of the things I miss most here in the desert, of course, is water. I grew up on the ocean – quite the shift to mountains and sand, though they obviously have their own beauty and serenity.
Yesterday, we took a drive with the pups halfway up “our” mountain. Ripped a tire to shreds on the way down and spent the day awaiting rescue from AAA and a neighbor/friend to bring us home.
But…..the little stream where we had a picnic and a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate the anniversary of our first date had cool clear running water and was almost worth the ensuing hassle! 🍾 🥂 🍾 ❤️
Afternoon. dear lady. Sorry to hear about your tire problem . . . that long wait (whew). I’m workin’ on my vintage Alfa, getting it ready for some beautiful Hill Country driving now that the weather is getting cooler. When my great friend and mentor had his car shop, he taught our little tribe of friends how to work on (now vintage) Italian cars. Now we’re a bunch of geezers . . . who can work on our own old cars. ‘Tink sends you a gentle good ‘afternoon purr. Now that the weather has changed she regularly climbs onto my shoulder to sleep. She’ll do this all winter, I suspect. She’s now 5 years old and shows no signs of once having been a feral kitty. Despite shredding a tire, congratulations on celebrating your first date’s anniversary !!!! Love the fact that you get to do that, love.

Before computers, my dad (a master mechanic) taught me what to know about carburetors, distributor caps, batteries and electrical systems, etc. I could keep a $50 car going with a popsicle stick!
But……life has intervened. My husband has taken 2 bad falls this month. It happens. Thus AAA. Thank goodness for them. My dad loved Alpha Romeos! Such beautiful automobiles.

RE: Dishonorable Generals and Admirals As we see US military generals and admirals anonymously slithering to the press to dishonorably voice their petulant disapproval of Pete Hegseth’s entirely necessary reforms in the Department of War, I think now is an excellent time to explain to civilians how this is all actually supposed to work.
Once upon a time, every senior officer and NCO knew what I am about to say, but apparently that is no longer true. So for everyone’s benefit, I’d like to describe, step-by-step, how an honorable, senior, U.S. officer or NCO deals with orders they disagree with:
1. First, determine if it is an unlawful order. Basically, for an order to be “unlawful,” it clearly and unambiguously needs to violate the Constitution or the Law of War (which includes stuff like the Geneva Conventions). An example of a clearly unlawful order is: “Go kill those innocent civilians and chop off their ears for my trophy case.” Every US military member, from privates E-1 to four-star generals, is obligated to ignore such an order and report it to the superiors of the person giving the order. This is a tough call, as you may face court martial and have to defend yourself, but it is the right thing to do, 100% of the time. Part of military bravery is having the guts to ignore unlawful orders.
2. But here is the thing—you better be damned sure that order is “unlawful.” Merely disagreeing with an order does not make it “unlawful.” So let’s move to Step #3 when you are dealing with a LAWFUL order with which you disagree.
3. When you receive a lawful order with which you disagree, you have an ethical obligation to tell the person giving that order WHY and HOW you disagree. (If you do this 99 times without results, you are still obligated as a professional to do it that 100th time as well). Explain to your boss in calm, dispassionate terms why you disagree with the order and precisely what negative results you believe will accrue by following that order.
4. A good military boss will listen intently to what you have to say, and may in fact change his/her lawful orders based on your input. However, they may also say: “I hear you, I understand your concerns, but you do not have the same big picture that I do, and you need to follow my order as written.”
5. If you are the subordinate and you get that latter response, you need to adopt that order AS YOUR OWN, AS IF IT WAS YOUR OWN PERSONAL ORIGINAL ORDER and carry it out to the fullest extent possible. That means you never, ever, EVER say to your subordinates “Well the Old Man told us to do this and I totally disagree with it, but we have to do it anyway.” A good leader NEVER does this. Instead a good leader tells his/her subordinates “Here are my orders, here is why we are executing these orders, and I expect you to execute them with precision and enthusiasm.”
6. Whatever reasons your boss told you are why the order needs to be followed, you need to adopt that same rationale as if it originated in your own brain, and you need to enforce the order with the same enthusiasm as if you dreamed it up yourself.
7. Then, execute the order zealously and do everything in your power to make sure that order is successful.
8. And if you cannot do #3 through #7 in good faith, your ethical obligation as a senior leader is to go to your boss’ office, slam your rank down on his/her desk, and officially resign from service. Anything less is the mark of a gutless coward.
This was once a very, very BASIC principle of military leadership. However, somewhere along the way in the hateful, neo-Marxist miasma of the Obama/Biden Administrations, this concept of basic military honor was lost. Instead of having senior military leaders who follow lawful orders from their chain of command, we have star-wearing cowards who think they know better than the Constitutional will of the American people they are obligated to serve, and feel it is OK to undermine their Constitutional leadership by wailing emotionally to an unethical press.
This is a disgusting, despicable trend that must be reversed. Instead of senior leaders who do their duties, we now have a significant number of senior military leaders who anonymously crawl on their bellies to a dysfunctional press that hates the will of the American electorate, all in an effort to ignore and overturn the lawful authority of their Constitutionally-elected leadership. When this happens, this is not so much a betrayal of the elected leadership as it is a betrayal of YOU, the American People.
This is a horrific crisis in military leadership the likes of which the US military has not seen since Benedict Arnold. We must identify and eliminate these cowardly uniformed traitors lest our Republic fail due to their malfeasance.
To that end, I applaud Donald Trump, Pete Hegseth, Sean Parnell and the rest of the DoW team for forcing our senior uniformed leaders to fulfill their duties, and fish or cut bait. So the next time you read an anonymously sourced article from senior military leaders undermining our Constitutionally-elected leadership, realize that those anonymous sources are betraying their oaths and their duties as military officers, and give their opinions the zero weight those opinions deserve.
Finally, give thanks to the team of Trump and Hegseth for ripping out this evil rot by root and stem. Our national survival depends on their success.

Here’s the deal. You know that virtually all of the flag officers in all the services are graduates of a Military Academy. The rot in honor and integrity in the officer corp will continue until the standards are enforced right from the beginning and the bad ones are culled from the herd as they’re exposed.

More frequently and openly it seems that blue state officials are ordering law enforcement to AVOID enforcing the law. I have seen instances where ‘stand down” type orders were given. Or “do not respond to this call” orders if ICE officers were being attacked and even shot at. One thing that has become evident for those watching the forecasts is that they don’t have a clue to where Melissa is going. At least now the NHC has done a massive revision and gotten far more realistic about the speed of intensification.
Yesterday a whole lot of ink was wasted talking about the storm turning north in Hispaniola or Jamaica and how that would be such a disaster. Now look at the track forecast, if you can even call it that. Pathetic. The GFS and Euro models are equally screwed up.
This is what I think is the best forecast so far.

Looks like we are down to three scenarios for Melissa in the next 5-7 days.
A is most likely, B moderately possible, C seems really unlikely.
A hurricane, but weaker one could meander, stall, or sit by Jamaica producing extreme rain and flooding in scenario B, before crossing eastern Cuba.
Scenario A would require the storm staying sheared Thursday-Friday, missing an opening from a cold front, then going back west or even southwest of Jamaica this weekend. In that scenario, “sky is the limit” for intensity with the storm. From there, could be a major impact to some part of many parts of The Bahamas as a major hurricane middle of next week.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Duchess, I saw a terrible article of a little 8 year old girl who was abused so horribly in so many ways by her parents who are now under arrest.
When she was found and freed she said, “This is the best day of my life.”
And that broke my heart…tears to imagine.
