I am pleased to see that Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, as reported by The Hill, has agreed with my plan to reopen the government, specifically to use the “nuclear option” to change the rules in the Senate to require only a simple majority to pass spending bills. As it requires merely a simple majority to change the rules, the Senate could then proceed to pass individual spending bills in regular order, such as the NDAA, which has passed the House and is ready for Senate passage. No more continuing resolutions would be required, and it should still take 60 votes in the Senate to pass one. The Senate should make this change immediately, to reopen the government.
Senator Fetterman is showing well, as Senator Charles Schumer, the Minority Leader, shows very poorly, these days. Fetterman would make a very good Minority Leader, himself, hopefully soon.
You know Halloween is just around the corner when Fetterman makes more sense than Collins or Murkowski.

First, a simple majority to change rules is not a good thing because every other congress is a different party and they change the rules, over and over, and over. Wouldn’t you think that rules, like our constitution, could be set up to endure most situations. As you know, changing the constitution(rules) is not an easy task and the Senate should be no different.
Second, “The Senate should make this change immediately, to reopen the government” presumes that the senate majority, republicans, are at fault here. Republicans have already voted 175 times or whatever to fund and open the government.
This is where the republicans need to change their rhetoric. Instead of saying democrats have shut down the government they need to say democrats are voting NO to open the government.
In a parliamentary body, the majority makes the rules of procedure. See “Robert’s Rules of Order.” In the U.S. Senate, 60 votes of 100 are required for cloture, to proceed to vote on a bill, a super-majority. This proposal does not end that, it just says that a simple majority is required for cloture on spending bills, which must be passed to fund the government. The Republican party cannot make the argument that it is better suited to govern, over the Democrats, if it does not support the government being open and running.

Roberts Rules as you note, does require two thirds vote for many things. Changes to rules and Bylaws are one of them. Note my reference link to a chart showing those motions requiring a two thirds vote.

What I am saying is, the Republicans can change the rules with a simple majority vote, so that the majority can prevail. Re the gambling indictments unsealed today involving rigged poker games and the NBA – a couple of observations:
1. There will certainly be more players involved. At this point some will be deemed victims/ witnesses, but the nature of the beast is that there is almost certainly a point-shaving angle to this. The OC participants don’t just want “better info” than the gambling public at large, they want to know that a particular game is going to end up the way they bet it.
2. It has always been impressive the degree to which the FBI and other federal agencies involved in these cases keep them secret. There has been nothing reported in the press — it would have been a firestorm if there had been — on this investigation, and the info is that it has been ongoing for years, involving activity in 11 states, and tens of millions of dollars.
This is a good example of all the “other” work done by the thousands of FBI agents who had no role in the hot-topic political investigations that led to demands to disband the Bureau.

I wish they would have more visuals. I saw a graph on X about the rising cost of insurance since Obama Care was instigated and it was significant. There is also a recent analysis that 2M illegals use Medicaid. This needs to be fixed and we Republicans will work with Democrats to, but we are not going to accept an additional $1.5T in additional spending just to work with them.

There is a great story to tell-Immigrants coming into our country illegally has been a problem for many decades. Clinton, Bush, Obama, and of course Trump has said we have to secure our boarder and control illegals immigration or we do have a country.
Deportation : Clinton 1M, Bush, 2M, Obama 2.8M, Trump(1) 1.2M, Biden 680K. We have been struggling with this problem for decades.
Then Biden opened the boarder and encouraged and assisted illegals to come in and we have an estimated 20M additional illegals as a a result. This has created a huge problem for our country and citizens.
These mostly unvetted illegals bring a huge cost to our country-increased crime and deaths, resource cost to our communities in terms of schools, medical, transportation, housing, food that we can’t maintain.
We are working to deport these illegals as our laws require us to do. This would go much more smoothly and efficiently with less conflicts if the cities and states would work with DHS.
Unfortunately, several governors and mayors are resisting DHS from enforcing our laws to get the large influx of 20M illegals deported.
Sorry, just rambling my frustrations that so many people in our country support sanctuary activities of some cities and states. Is it they want our Republic to fail or do they hate Trump so much they are willing to commit suicide.

So now she’s making conclusive statements which is not the way to go. But that’s just what I see as an observer.
That’s as far as anyone can say about this because there’s no conclusion to be drawn other than something is being lied about and the reason why is unknown.
The Trump administration is in a moment in time where he is dealing with HUGE matters on a global scale and consequence. It could well be that who/whatever is behind this is also necessary in some capacity for ending the deep state or global intel or whatever things which are suppressing global freedom around the world. Even in a vague sense, it’s not hard to imagine there could be reasons to cover Kirks death up.

The biggest thing to watch for is lack of evidence. A guy on American Thinker said it couldn’t have been a .30-06 because it would have blown Kirk’s head off. Maybe, maybe not. He didn’t present evidence of the bullet. A 150 – 300 grain soft point yes. A 110 grain full metal jacket no. I deer hunt with a very similar .270 with 130 grain Hornady pointed soft points which are some what hard and easily kill a deer but leave both a small entry wound and only a bit bigger exit wound. Not much meat damage at all.
I do agree with him both bullets would pass through the victim. My point is where is the evidence of not just the shell casing but also the bullet type and weight? You want to convince me one way or the other give me evidence.
