I have been giving this some thought and here is my 2 cents. White boomer democrats leading the no kings protests are shaped by their 1960s–70s activism. That era locked in their progressive ideals, and many haven’t budged since. Pew Research says 60% of Boomers who were democrats in their 20s still are, and 65% of those over 60 rarely give the other side a fair shake. For them, opposing Trump feels like a moral mission, and switching sides would be like betraying everything they fought for.
Many of us see these boomers as stuck in the party line, even when it doesn’t add up. Kids can tell boys from girls without a second thought, but many democrats push gender fluidity because it’s the party’s stance. Same with immigration where democrat views have flipped over time, tracking party messaging. This comes from trusting progressive outlets, fearing pushback from their crowd, vying for job security, and maybe even justifying past choices they’re not ready to call mistakes. Yesterday’s protests had them chanting the same slogans, craving that sense of belonging from the 60s-70s. It’s a mindset that struggles with ideas that challenge a lifetime of convictions.
For the dem boomers the party is a religion, they are not going to change as they cannot seek fulfilment unless they are part of the group and told what to do.
A lot of these old democrat boomers were spitting on the troops returning from Vietnam.
The fever at that time against being drafted created the lowering of voting age to 18 as it was 18 year-olds being drafted so they wanted to have a voice in having to fight in non-congressionally declared wars, and it also led to the ending of the draft and creation of the all-volunteer army.

They are like zombies, and there is no cure. They would rather die than admit they are wrong, even though deep down they may know they are wrong. I have a sister who fits this description to a T.
Damn shame because in their youth all those hedonist hippies sure could tell a girl from a guy and were all about that “free love”, sexual revolution and the pill.

Here’s the problem though – it is the young people who are of the Antifa, BLM, socialist/communist mindset – their thought process and political mindset are now set into these beliefs and will not be able to outgrow them, just as the lefty boomers could not outgrow their political ideologies as in both cases, they have allowed those beliefs to define their world, their ‘reality’
and to counter those will be the current young people of the Turning Point approach, who also will not outgrow their mental foundation (speaking from experience as when my friends and family went lefty I was ‘saved’ as they said back in those days).
I knew back then the plan by my lefty friends and family was to get government jobs, whether federal, state or local and to take over the education system. Don’t think for one moment those are not the same plans for today’s Antifa, BLM, communist minded young ones.
The interesting reason some friends gave was because they would be financially secure for life, i.e. govt. pensions. That repelled me so much, could not understand how anyone would not want to go out in the world and create something with their own hands and initiative. So develop independent creativity in young one’s too, in order to foster a joy in individual thinking instead of hive mind thinking too.
Do all we can to encourage the young ones in our family and associations to find the healthier path while they are still shaping the foundation for their world views.
I don’t know if this is still the case (I got out of the Army in 1968), although I suspect it is, but service to our country gives us some “privileges”. One of them is a position at the head of the line for government jobs. We still had to interview and test at fairly high levels of competence because that was the norm back then, but we got moved to the front of the line nonetheless. An easy path to take. I personally did not take that path, nor did I follow the path that I chose for myself when I enlisted in the Army.
I so agree with your assessment, Bessie, about the Turning Point approach. Charlie Kirk and his organization were/are making a huge difference. These days I am so grateful to my parents for providing me with the solid foundation of a religious upbringing in the Christian church. I fall back on it now more than ever; my point being that the young people touched by Turning Point will carry that foundation into their families and provide it to their children. Every day I pray for the salvation of our children. They are our hope and our strength in restoring our Republic and restoring our unique culture. The evil one has provided them with great challenges (drugs, social media, gaming, the poisoning of their minds).
Speaking of which: has anyone watched the Turning Point presentation from Oklahoma University the other night? Russell Brand was the featured presenter. I would love to see the insights of others on him and his presentation.
