He uses a combination of snoot in the face and bouncing on our bladders and it works every time. But it’s great to wake up to a soul that is so obviously happy to be alive and be with his family/pack.

Her morning habit is a bit different, she simply curls up on my shoulder and purrs in my ear until I finally wake up. Actually, its a great way to start the morning, especially on early fall mornings like now. She’s very polite about the whole thing . . . but still . . . 🙂
Gabby the cat sleeps with us also. When I go to bed she climbs up on my chest to get her attention and then moves down to the bottom of the bed a curls up and goes to sleep. She’s up and on her cat tower perch looking out at the bird feeders before we get up.
If I take an afternoon nap, she gets her attention and then curls up next to me to take a nap.

10:14 – down to renew my car license disc today at our local equivalent of your DMV. Can do it via online channels, but as part of my “therapy” (and cheaper), I sometimes force myself to confront the demon. – I can cope if the “system” is moving efficiently. “Hmmm, OK, there’s 5 in front of me = each takes around 7 minutes, sooooo………, Yah, I can deal with that.” (predictability) – Reality though (hence the dread and anxiety) often “tests” us unexpectedly. – Slide – closed for lunch. “O, and I also need to go to Grannies funeral” (again???). “Please use the next available “help” counter.” (This of course is all in my mind – from experience), and already I’m losing this one – Bing, pop, whirly wheels, bye bye mind. However sometimes we win and usually a few seconds after proudly displaying our new disc to the world, all is forgotten – until next time. 🙁
13:05 – Update! – See you later within 12 seconds. Firstly the signs are everywhere – a lot more than 5, and many have multiple “folders” – which can mean only one thing – bye bye.

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

There is a horrible consistency in all the Left’s pro-criminal anti-American policies. No bail, No prison, No death penalty, all work to make honest people miserable. Many more policies implemented to do the same.

This brings up an incident that made my day. My little grandson attends pre-school at a public elementary school in a suburb of Everett, just north of Seattle. Today I had to take him because of school bus problems. I took him to the office and got there just as the entire school began the Pledge of Allegiance, even including the words “under God.” After hearing how terribly anti-American the schools are, this showed that maybe they’re not as bad as I thought.

I sprayed it this spring and now doing it in the fall. Nice sunny warm day and there is heavy rain in the forecast for this weekend here.
Now, when I finish this can of Dr. Pepper Sherry and I are going to get the rack and wood laid in for the insert. Better now than when it gets cold.
Last week I went to Harbor Freight and bought new wheels with tires for the two wheel old wood hauler. So now both the new one and the old one are functional. So I can bring one load in and while Sherry is loading the rack load up the other one. Should speed up the process quite a bit.
Usually I like to wait until after the first hard freeze to bring wood in the house. But I used some of my wood the other day in the fire pit and it seems pretty darn clean of termites and powder puff beatles so I’m making an exception this year.

The recent Gaza peace deal, brokered by Trump, has not only opened a path to Israeli/Palestinian stabilization, but it has also detonated the core of Iran’s regional leverage. Hamas, once Tehran’s crown jewel among Sunni resistance proxies, is now in retreat. Its leadership has been decimated. Its military capabilities shredded. Under the terms of the deal, if it holds, it will be disarmed and replaced by a new, internationally monitored governing structure in Gaza.
Iran has lost its southern front against Israel, and with it, much of its regional utility. Hezbollah fares little better. Once feared for its firepower and entrenchment, it now finds itself under sustained and surgical Israeli strikes that have crippled its command structure. Once a regional power broker, Hezbollah has become a liability, dragging Lebanon further into economic ruin and international isolation. Iran’s multi-decade investment is being flushed down the drain.
Even in Yemen, the Houthis, long celebrated by Tehran as a revolutionary “resistance movement”, are on the back foot. International naval coalitions have curtailed their Red Sea piracy. Arab coalitions have kept them hemmed in. Iran can no longer sustain or expand its influence there. The Houthis are no longer a strategic asset, they are a faltering burden.

That metric is 24.7% as of August 2025 and includes those without a full-time job, those seeking work, and those earning below a living wage of approximately $25,000 annually. It is a metric that provides a more comprehensive view of unemployment beyond the traditional statistics reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
I haven’t even got to the acceleration of AI/robotics/automation to replace U.S. workers in the U.S. yet.
But unfortunately, both the left and right wing news outlets focus on whatever the latest domestic scandal or foreign problem is instead of putting their spotlight on both party’s political representatives who sell out U.S. citizens and their progeny to monied interests and have for a long time.
Of course, those outlets are owned by monied interests who have no intention to put the spotlight where it should be. As the old meme says, keep the American people in the dark and feed them manure.
So the now decades-long denuding of the U.S. population by politicians working with monied interests to increase their wealth as fast as possible no matter the harm done to U.S. citizens and their progeny continues.
Republicans love to go on about the debt but the fastest way to solve the debt problem is to have near full employment of U.S. citizens at sustainable wages with great benefits. A symbiotic relationship between labor and investors. Why? Well, tax revenues skyrocket as almost all U.S. citizens who can work do so at ever increasing sustainable real wages while non-entitlement social spending declines to almost nothing because it’s not needed much anymore. Combined with smart tariffs feeding Treasury and smart government policies fostering and retaining invention/innovation competitive advantages inside the U.S. while working to return the industrial and manufacturing base back to the U.S.; removing the foreign spying in the universities; etc. all moves the U.S. toward that good goal.
But the Republican’s best thinking was instead to maintain the existing long-standing problem, rather than fix it, and push the consequences of it onto the backs of poor U.S. citizens.
Yes, the Democratic Party is marred by moral depravity; ignorance; and deception. I could never vote for such. But they did understand that poor U.S. citizens who lose their job because they get sick shouldn’t be denied healthcare. I will give them that. So when it begins in 2027, the Republicans are going to have to own what they did to a material number of U.S. citizens and their families and how they failed to return prosperity to that 24.7% of U.S. citizens who desperately need it the most right now.
And the other party will likely benefit. The problem remains. May the good Lord help us all.

I simply don’t understand how the US is being overrun with foreign labour. My experience is that the doors are closed. Perhaps you can’t be a God loving conservative to qualify.

I mean no disrespect to any person anywhere Dan. It’s just that the U.S. is already overrun with foreign labor as the BLS admits in their May 2025 report that in 2024, foreign-born workers accounted for 19.2% of the U.S. civilian labor force, an increase from 18.6% in 2023. That’s one of the primary drivers, among others, that 24.7% of the U.S. workforce is now “functionally unemployed” per the LISEP metric.
True, the percentage of foreign-born workers in the U.S. civilian labor force is now diminishing in some small measure under the presidency of Donald J. Trump and I’m looking forward to see what the change is in future BLS reports. However, it is predictable that the percentage will climb back up rapidly after his presidency is over as both parties legislatures profit from the monied interests who accelerate their wealth through this practice (and other practices undesirable for U.S. workers).
Plenty of blue-collar and white-collar foreign-born workers continue to manage legal employment in the U.S. through all sorts of programs like J-1, O-1, F-1 ODT, etc. and that includes the H-1B visa program which is still in operation despite the recent change to it.
Again, no offense intended and I pray that you are blessed with a wonderful opportunity right where you live.
None taken. I always enjoy perspective. I am a manager for a construction company. I’m sad to say it but a bigger and bigger part of our workforce is of very recent immigration to Canada. It isn’t that we don’t want Canadians, it’s that we can’t find any that want to work. I really believe that the West is struggling with a whole generation of lazy brats who don’t want to get up early and get their hands dirty.
I’m guessing the US is experiencing similar problems.

Once you get to a certain percentage of certain groups on a job they practice protectionism by making outsiders miserable, refusing to properly train, even putting them in life threatening situations. The bosses don’t want to rock the boat and they just go with the flow unless they are forced to change by costly organized theft – stuff like that. Most workers know what they’re looking at and refuse to place themselves in a no-win environment since it’s going to look bad on their resume for whatever short time they survive the environment. JMO from experience of myself and others I know.
The problem isn’t a nation of “lazy brats.” The problem is that mass offshoring, mass outsourcing of work, and mass in-sourcing of foreign-labor over decades has destabilized the U.S. domestic labor market to the point that the full-time employment opportunities at sustainable real wages that increase at the level of inflation or better over time with full benefits has become a unicorn for about half the nation’s citizens, including educated adults and seniors who need sustainable full-time work with benefits but cannot find it.
