I worked with one of Merrill’s Marauders for several years. He had some experiences, that’s for sure. The father of a former work colleague was also a Maruader. I attended his funeral. Like your Dad, they were just young guys at the time who probably had no idea what they were getting into, but they did what needed to be done regardless. The greatest generation – for sure.

Twelve O’clock High. One of the best WWII movies out there. Everyone should watch this film to gain an appreciation of just how heroic these young men were.
In a former life, Situational Leadership training was taught using the Twelve O’clock High movie. The crux of which was assessing, ready, willing and able status of a group and individuals.
Bomber Command is also a great movie covering similar events.
The first season of the TV show is great, with Robert Lansing as General Savage. Command Decision is another great movie. Strategic Air Command is also great but the ending was a bit of bummer.

But we also live in an age where English has been severely condensed such that so many people are used to “texting” in abbreviated shorthand with others and using only a small fraction of the vocabulary that was used by our boomer and earlier generations long before the dawn of digital personal communications.
As a result (IMHO), some comments posted herein express incomplete or incoherent thoughts or do not specify clearly as to what statement or idea the comments are directed.
This is **not** a problem unique to CTH; one can see examples of this in every comments section under news and blog sites and within every social media app that’s online.

About in 2020 or 2021 I was reading that people would start to die in 2-3 years. They were right. It was about that time the young athletes started having heart issues and dying on the fields.
It still continues to this day , the problem is it’s never reported by the mainstream . I have extensive data with thousands of names of young children who have died after taking those jabs , many who have survived have had to have amputations of limbs due to blood clots .
Most people like 4th amendment for example don’t have a clue and it’s a shame.

Our wonderful President is exposed to more people and locales than anyone, so he has to take that into consideration. It’s his decision to make.

I filled up today in Central Ohio for $2.06 per gallon for regular unleaded. This is a boon for main street and a major reason the Fed is behind cutting rates. The summer ozone and volatile emissions requirements make summer gasoline more expensive. It’s not a matter of “less driving” as much as the colder temperatures slow the evaporation of gasoline, leading to less vapors. To comply with summer temperature requirements, refineries need to use extra refined “light ends” which end up costing more to process, and can lead to short term scarcity in early summer if not enough low volatile gas is available.
Yes, I kind of remember hearing about summer gas vs winter gas several years ago but didn’t really remember the explanation.

Just opened up a discussion on tariffs and who is paying it. In this case, small/limited runs of PCBs submitted over the internet to a Chinese fabricator. The boards and often boards with components pre-installed (chips, transistors, etc) are then shipped to you in the USA and you track the shipment like any other. Flies from Hong Kong to one of several airports around the country, it is processed through customs or whatever, and somehow gets handed off to USPS or FedEx or whatever carrier and gets delivered to your door. No more de minimis exemption and yet somehow it is delivered to my door and there’s no notice for me to pay anything at the post office. No “C.O.D.” no anything. My GUESS is that the shipments are being accepted by a Chinese company in the US and whatever fees are paid by them. (Importers always pay the tariffs) which then hands it off to the carrier I selected when I did the web checkout.
But there’s a “smart lefty” in the discussion that denies Chinese control over US ports and the labor union opposition to the Chinese use of automation and he starts creating fictions. He says “no tariffs because it’s free or no cost or no value.” If everything received is like that? Does anyone believe the Customs people will accept this? I don’t. Then he made the claim “it’s a prototype.” Is there any such exception for that? I don’t think so. Government works in objective ways, not subjective ways. They measure costs and value as essentially one and the same but if everything was “no value” that could be a problem if they asked the buyer “how much did they charge?”
This guy wants SO bad to explain away “I didn’t pay anything for my Chinese PCBs” and is willing to assume that the maker lied and the government doesn’t care. And isn’t it more likely the importer is the most ordinary thing we already know about? That a foreign entity legally operating in this country is the importer tasked with handing imports off to parcel delivery carriers?

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a law banning sales of one of the most popular types of handgun in the United States.
The law bans new sales of “semi-automatic handguns that can be easily converted to a fully automatic machine gun with the use of a simple ‘switch,'” according to a statement from Gabriel’s office.
It covers handguns manufactured by Glock, as well as similarly designed pistols, that use a “cruciform trigger bar,” which lawmakers said makes them easily convertible to fully automatic fire.
The bill’s authors argue that although the easy conversion of Glock-style handguns into machine guns has been known for decades, firearm manufacturers have failed to address it.
“While most handgun designs cannot be modified in this way, the select few manufacturers whose guns can be modified have refused to adjust their designs to prevent modification,” according to the statement from Gabriel’s office.
“As parents and lawmakers, we refuse to stand idly by while our schools and communities are being threatened by illegal machine guns,” he said. “This common-sense legislation will ensure that the gun industry is held accountable and that we are doing everything possible to protect our communities from mass shootings.”

Since the same phrasing is being used every time they repeat this latest lie, it must be coming from Democrat talking points being passed along inside the MSM. It is utter BS.
We have seen Trump’s 20 points for some time now and are familiar with them. If there was any truth to what the Democrats are saying, then some document containing their “basis” must exist and it must date from before Biden and Blinken left office and before Trump and his people came up with any plan of their own. If such a document existed, then we should be able to compare the two and see for ourselves if there is any similarity. But I don’t recall ever seeing their plan before and they are not sharing it how. Liars is all they are. Their hatred for Trump grows every day.

Perhaps Hegseth could start recruiting replacement troops from North Korea where the overweight or obese percents are close to zero.
I’m guessing that’s not as bad as it sounds. Really fit – muscled – people are labeled obese under BMI. Also, if it’s support personnel not combat troops it maybe doesn’t matter as much.
The problem is that Hollywood Hegaeth has said it matters for all troops.
My pop had way high above field rank. And yet, he still had to make his 166 pounds for inspection every year. It was tough for him because he was large-framed for his height, but back then no one cared. He had tons of muscle but struggled to cut all excess fat or fluid to make the weight for his height. He could do more push-ups and pull-ups than Hegseth, but he still had to make that specific poundage or not be approved for duty.
I hope the standards have been fine-tuned better than then, for people of different bone structure like Pop, but I’m glad some standards are being reimposed.

That’s how Trump won in 2016. It was a massive same-day turnout for Trump that blew their minds and sent Clinton to the liquor store. They had no idea it was coming. If those same votes were early votes, they would have stolen 2016 as well.
As long as we allow early voting, mail-in voting, ballot drop-boxes, etc, this is how they steal elections.
Although same-day voting was how Kari Lake lost. The Dems made sure that there were tech problems with the voting machines only in Republican districts on Election Day.
