I appreciate this information. Pres. Trump was not nominated apparently before the deadline so he couldn’t win it this year anyway, but their backhanded insult to him was pure nastiness. They think their self importance as the ones choosing the recipient of this award makes them some sort of high and mighty special. They aren’t and their ‘prize’ is not either.
While I agree that it would be so like the Nobel committee to snub President Trump, I also note that the deadline for this year’s nominations was Jan 31, 2025 — the same month PT was sworn into office. Which means that most of the winner’s accomplishments would be for 2024, before he was even voted into office or sworn in.
Just saying, PT’s multiple global peace initiatives happened after the January 31 deadline — so we might be jumping the gun to expect him to be the 2025 winner. (Not that I’m holding my breath for 2026, but if he is passed over next year, there’s more justification to feel he was snubbed.)
