After JFK was shot, somehow I ended up at a performance of a requiem performed by the Detroit Symphony conducted by Paul Paray, by Dvorak if I remember correctly. It was an experience that moved me forever. After that last note, it was as if everyone in the hall had stopped breathing, it was so quiet.
Paul Paray also was part of the French resistance during WW2, living his best life.
I love the Brahms and Mozart Requiems, and the St. John and Matthew Passions by Bach. Sometimes I will put on the St John Passion on Good Friday.
Today however, it is still too raw. It will take some time before I can absorb some of that incredible music once again.

Music preferences are so personal…but truth be told, Ross, I am passionate about older classical music. It has always sustained me. I know there are others out there, but I think we are few. I am partial to Dvorak, but Bach is the composer whose works I would take with me should I be consigned to a desert Island. They feed the soul.
I understand precisely. There are many for whom this terrible murder and the attendant shocking vitriol has left unmoored and flailing. However for me, it is all the more essential that I submerse myself in such music. But I am selective as to which I seek out.
Mozart’s Requiem is too heavy and sorrowful. But this one, this performance, offers such hope when everywhere it seems harder to find. Tears? With every listening. But as I’ve always considered tears to be wordless prayers, I offer them with abandon.

I was just told that we have more press interest in Sunday’s celebration of Charlie Kirk’s life and legacy than there is for the Super Bowl.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is about to be proclaimed to the largest audience in the history of humanity.

We are watching a breath taking display of the awesome power of Almighty God-out in the open and undeniable. Of course there will be many who do deny His power, but they will witness it.
The Book of Job, in chapters 38-42, describes in such vivid detail the enormity of God’s unlimited power over ALL of creation.
God’s “conversation” with Job had a great impact on Job, but the word’s God spoke are meant for us as well.
The scale and scope of today’s memorial service is a miraculous display of God’s power. May hearts and minds be changed!
No one will have excuse… all will know and will come into His Presence for personal accounting!

I want to address some of the discussion about the lack of an exit wound with Charlie. I’m usually not interested in delving into most of this kind of online chatter, and I apologize this is somewhat graphic, but in this case, the fact that there wasn’t an exit wound is probably another miracle, and I want people to know.
I just spoke with the surgeon who worked on Charlie in the hospital…
He said the bullet “absolutely should have gone through, which is very very normal for a high powered, high velocity round. I’ve seen wounds from this caliber many times and they always just go through everything. This would have taken a moose or two down, an elk, etc.”
But it didn’t go through. Charlie’s body stopped it.
I mentioned to his doctor that there were dozens of staff, students, and special guests standing directly behind Charlie on the other side of the tent, and he replied:
“It was an absolute miracle that someone else didn’t get killed.”
“His bone was so healthy and the density was so so impressive that he’s like the man of steel.
It should have just gone through and through. It likely would have killed those standing behind him too.”
In the end, the coroner did find the bullet just beneath the skin.
Even in death, Charlie managed to save the lives of those around him.

How Great Thou Art was good, but the rest isn’t my cup of tea, but it seems it was Charlie’s favorite type Christian music and that is what is important.

I know I’m in the minority, but watching this I’m beginning to remember why I stopped going to the contemporary service at church. I’m very happy it’s inspirational to others, but I would really like to hear more from people like those young men talking about how Charlie influenced them.
I don’t think the Charlie Kirk Show is going anywhere. I think that will happen as they adapt to no longer having Charlie Kirk there five days a week for hours at a time.
TPUSA will likely also do much of that at their events. We all know it will be next man and woman up.
This really is/was a revival and I’m hoping that the void so many are feeling is being filled with God’s love. I think that is why it is faith forward. It’s who Charlie was.
