As the backlash mounted from affiliate television stations, eventually Disney Corp who owns ABC announced they were suspending Jimmy Kimmel effective immediately.

By suggesting a “comedian” be fired, the administration is offering ABC (Disney) shareholders a compromise to avoid having the broadcast license revoked. A compromise I think is too generous.
I propose the better solution is not to compromise and pull the license. But the administration decided to play nice in this case. Probably in deference to the shareholders.

The FCC has stated that “rigging or slanting the news is a most heinous act against the public interest.” The Commission will investigate a station for news distortion if it receives documented evidence of rigging or slanting, such as testimony or other documentation, from individuals with direct personal knowledge that a licensee or its management engaged in the intentional falsification of the news. Of particular concern would be evidence of the direction to employees from station management to falsify the news. However, absent such a compelling showing, the Commission will not intervene.
It would seem that ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN are guilty of almost daily news distortion and should come under greater scrutiny going 4ward… perhaps licensing fines for presenting known falsehoods, suspending a license and/or the anchor for 30 days or longer

Popular misconception by lay people … ABC has __no__ such license, excepting for those few AM, FM or TV stations they might own outright SEPARATE from affiliates who subscribe to ABC programming …

Kimmel should have been cancelled years ago after appearing in full blackface (arms, chest and face) as Karl Malone on the Man Show maybe 20 years ago. Not just once but multiple times as it was one of Kimmel’s regular skits. Not very funny and as offensive then as it is now. Amazing the Hollywood libs gave Kimmel a complete pass on that one.
I never once watched his show.
Even so, I strongly object to the claim that he was a comedian.
I wonder if Kimmel actually meant and believed what he said? Two days ago at work I observed a huge discussion about whether Tyler Robinson was MAGA. The opinion-flak was so dense I didn’t even bother trying to get a word in to the contrary. I just assumed, like RussiaGate and everything else, that the Truth would have to emerge eventually. That a MAGA guy would take a shot at Kirk was so contrary to logic, I just left the cafeteria shaking my head. The assertions were so dispositive and emphatic it seemed like my colleagues were desperate to cling on to the belief that the Left was completely the side of non-violence … and most were architects and engineers (careers where facts matter). However, if that was the only thing Kimmel heard and he didn’t do his homework (and didn’t turn on his critical thinking) I could see him coming out with a monologue like that. This comment is not to excuse what Kimmel said, he was rightly fired, but just to show how impenetrable the Left’s echo chamber is. It is totally scary IMHO.
Hold them to their own standards. They open the window, we’re just passing through.
I’m old enough to remember people being fired for speaking against the vaccines, for speaking against trans books in schools, for merely saying “all life matters” after the Floyd riots. I remember and remember. Yeah we F’ing remember.
