It is not common when both the sitting President of the United States and the Vice President attend the same funeral together, when it is not a nationally recognized dignitary.
Both President Trump and Vice President JD Vance will be honoring Charlie Kirk at the funeral service. It is a fitting and considerate reflection of great honor, worthy of Kirk’s impact.
My dear friends, there is so much background stuff happening we are all watching in the aftermath of the Kirk assassination, it is difficult to find the words for any outline of value.
I cannot imagine how challenging life is for Charlie Kirk’s family right now, and out of the greatest respect I feel the best thing to do is just do nothing except honor his faith, work and legacy. I have made the decision not to cover any of the controversial aspects, direct or ancillary, beyond what I have already shared.
Do I have opinions, yes. And when my brain is full of things I want to say – my prayers and life lessons have guided me to understand that is exactly when it is best to say nothing.
My inner voice tells me to remain silent on any of the ancillary subjects until Charlie Kirk is laid to rest with great honor and tribute. Then, when it is appropriate, to provide my personal thoughts on facets that may be valuable in context.
Feel free to share any subject matter in/around the storyline of this tragedy on any open thread where we can gather in fellowship. I know a lot of people are hurting.

I am sure that Charlie, at his now heavenly position, would recommend that POTUS & VPOTUS NOT be in the same location at the same time. They can’t fly together and, even though they are together for official Congressional appearances like the State of the Union, there is at least one person in the Presidential succession ranks that does NOT attend. I would hope that such a plan will eventually be implemented. Charlie knows how you feel, so you all really aren’t needed to physically attend. Things are just too volatile at this time.

When a person holds a strong belief because it supports their self image and world view they literally hear what they want to hear not what is actually spoken. If you show such a person a video recording of the event they will still deny the actual conversation and insist their version is the truth. You have to go at a very slow speed through the event making them agree after every sentence what was said and still they’ll act confused and have to have certain parts repeated several times and even when they admit they wrong they won’t change their opinion. Rob is the real McCoy! Many years ago, I had the privilege of knowing him when he helped another local Calvary Chapel Church that we attended while our pastor was moving, and we needed an interim pastor. I was one of the board members at the time and had many board meetings that led to a successful transition for a new pastor.
I’ve been on church boards most of my adult life, and he was by far the best I ever served under. He was also one of the first pastors to reopen his church right after Easter in 2020 when President Trump declared churches as essential. He was threatened to be arrested and fined, but he stood strong.

It has been a week and I haven’t heard one comment about why the roof of any adjacent building was not secured. After Butler it should have been SOP yet, nothing. Am I missing something?
